For Americans, the P45 is a "pink slip" in the UK. You get/got it when your employment ends and you'd either give it to your next employment or exchange it at the unemployment office for a UB40 (bonus fact) to claim benefits. Used to, anyway. I was in the US for 25 years and got some strange looks at the job center when I asked about a UB40 along the lines of "We don't have those any more, granddad".
The Peel P50 is a three-wheeled microcar originally made in 1962 on the Isle of Man🇮🇲. It was listed in the Guinness World Records as the smallest production car ever made. Originally with no reverse gear, Peel P50’s have a handle at the rear allows the very lightweight car to be manoeuvred physically when required. Designed as a city car, it was advertised in the 1960s as capable of seating "one adult and a shopping bag". The vehicle's only door was on its left side and equipment included a single windscreen wiper and one headlight. Standard colours were Daytona White, Dragon Red, and Dark Blue. The company produced 50 P50s and only 27 are known to still exist, one of which was sold for a record US$176,000 at a Sotheby's auction in March 2016.
DUDE WHAT? I just looked it up, and these only weigh 130lb. You could literally ship this as a regular package (at least with the company I work for), it wouldn't even need to be on a pallet if you could somehow package it well enough

You're wrong, sorry. If you watch the episode of Top Gear where Jeremy Clarkson drives a Peel P50, you will know that this car has no reverse as Jeremy in the episode has to lift the back of the car to reverse it. The only way the Peel P50 can reverse is if you modified it to reverse. Otherwise, it has absolutely no way of reversing other than picking it up from the back handle it has.
I feel like this is a precursor to those Power Wheels cars we all had as children, I had the yellow jeep wrangler. Except this runs on gas and not a rechargeable battery 😂
I’m pretty sure this was invented at a time where if a car was small enough it could be driven with just a motorcycle license, and that is why it exists.
Because of Jeremy Clarksons' episode on Top Gear, showing this beautiful car off people fell in love with it so much, the value went up very fast. That beauty now costs close to $17,000 to own it. The peel p50 is on my list of cars I want to own. I like being different. Great small car.
But according to the British I'm quite sure you only need a motorcycle license for driving the three wheeled Relaiant's so technically it's a three wheeled motorcycle since it was made in the UK
Are you suggesting clarkson wouldn’t agree? He actually introduced it as the smallest car in an episode of top gear and drove it around the BBC studios.
@@yes-id4yt aha! I looked it up, I remember it now, it’s more like he is wearing it than inside it, how did the mass production go though. The P50 was only made for a few years in the 1960’s but since clarkson showed it on top gear it revived interest and production has restarted.
Imagine a very slow and controlled roll? Just slowly tips onto it's left side. The gas pours out all over you and you burst into flames. Excellent engineering.
Another 3-wheeler built from no-more-needed airplane parts is the "Messerschmitt Kabinenroller". And if you want a real BMW watch the "BMW Isetta". I think Steve Erkel had one of these vehicles.
I much prefer the looks of the Messerschmitt KR200 and the FMR Tg500 to the Peel P50. The FMT Tg500 had a top speed of 78mph, which the Peel could never get near. Saying that if someone was to gift me a Peel P50 in mint condition I wouldn’t say no, as they are major collectors items now. Such cool little cars
