Did you forget Sepang? Yes, in early days (1999) he did a decent layout. This one is a 'bit' different but al least, seems wider enough for some overtake. I hope so... :)
Nice track... i saw some points where you could probably try an overtaking maneuver.... although this track may look boring i think there are some possibilities of overtaking because there are long straighs
Remember though that this was a 2-seater F1 car with a passenger on board, so he always does the corners a lot slower than normal to not injure the passenger's neck (I definitely noticed it in Melbourne this year when that car ran). So i'm sure in the race lap times and cornering speeds will be far quicker.
I wish Tilke would learn to put some camber in corners... almost always flat! :/ Looks like a challenging track, though I don't like those super slow chicanes.
heavy braking zones mixed with fast flowing corners make the best race tracks. yas marina is a great circuit for f1 just looks at last seasons race. although i have just realise you made that comment 3 years ago lol
Nice circuit! God I miss the sound of the V10 engines in F1. In fact, the sound of this engine reminds me of the Renault V10 engine on the Williams that carried Ayrton Senna to the grave.
The back straight is the longest on any track in the world. Having been to the circuit and been round the track, I'm pretty sure it will make for some decent racing. Only aerodynamic issues could scupper the F1 overtaking.
Tilke.....one word: FAST CORNERS, please. :P I can count fast corners on his tracks on one hand.... actually he made only one well known hard corner, in turkey.
When I saw the first 3D renders of this track about an year ago or something, I thought it looks just like a video game called Trackmania. And it still does.
I couldnt agree with you more 374349, The best new circuit I have seen in ages is the one in Portugal, Portimao. Now thats what circuits should be like! F1 have tested there.
in addition, some sections are almost like a street circuit, fences close to track, buildings so near... nothing wrong if it weren't a permanent road course.
He has a guest in the back of the car! Watch the beginning and you'll see a second person, They don't want to take unnecessary risk with a guest on board!
seems like a nice, innovative track, should be interesting to watch. also, the track should be very dusty because of all the construction around the track. should make it dangerous.
first left hander after the grid taken at 120mph, second left hander FLOWING into right hander gets you up to 170mph followed by a slower tricky chicane coming into a hairpin leading to the longest straight where you top out at around 200mph down into the hardest braking zone pulling 6G's. the onto the second longest straight coming up to a left handed flowing chicane again take at 120mph. then shortly after is a very fast long right hander at 160mph into the final hotel complex.track is awesome
there are some flows to the track design i mean the chicane at before the hairpin in section 1 is pointlees because that takes away the overtaking into that bend. Perosnally as a driver i think its a great track to drive But can i see overtaking?
Impressive grandstands, I'm sure it'll look great in the dark... Shame the racing that'll be on offer will be so dull - given the hundreds of millions of dollars that have gone into making this circuit you'd think they'd come up with something better than the Hungaroring in the desert...
A couple thoughts: Very short run into turn 1 means KERS cars won't gain as much of advantage when the lights go out. Expect action (offs/brake lockup) through the right handers 15/16/17. And many of these turns look off-camber. Done on purpose to induce wheelspin coming off the corner? I don't know, maybe it's just the camera playing tricks. Interesting circuit and I agree that the facilities make it at least interesting to watch. Tilke still hasn't gotten it exactly right though. :(
In my opinion it's another typical stop-start Herman Tilke track except with more character than the likes of Bahrain, but it'll be interesting to see what the drivers make of it. A quick layout change that would make it more flowing is cutting out that silly chicane after turn 3, since it follows onto a slow FIA friendly hairpin anyway.
Grass and pieces of tarmac outside the track everywhere... where are the times a driver was OUT when he made a big mistake? Uninspired, I agree with that word.
No! I agree that i think they should make tracks like interlagos that had so many overtaking and it was flowing! they need to make tracks that have late entries into corners that allows the f1 car to make a move up the inside look at jenson button on the weeknd into turn 1 its a late turn into the corner and he took advantage. Herman Tilke is making to many driver circuits but not overtaking circuits!
I think you'll find that most F1 circuits have more run-off areas than a modern airport now. I still think the grandstands etc are stunning. The circuit left me a bit cold. Maybe at speed, it will be better?? I hope so. Kers cars will piss over the others. It looks very point and squirt.
yes thats the way you cruise and then you push a bit and then push again a bit until you find a pace :) look at schumi after 3 years of doing nothing he is at top10.. i wish the best for senna and i think that he will prove and honor the name that he carries
I don't think it is that much less safe compared to a normal pit lane with an armco either side. I'm pretty sure there will be safety measures incase of an accident in the tunnel. The circuit doesn't look that boring compared to say, Valencia and I there looks like quite a few opportunities for overtaking.
i am so pissed off right now. why is it so hard to come up with a GOOD track design which is suitable for overtaking, has some trees and stuff around (you might not notice, but that really makes a difference) and at least 2 challenging corners?! even i can do that! and im sure all of you can. althought i have to say, it's better that sepang/shanghai/valencia/new hockenheim.
Atleast then they'll have passing and go flatout for the lap long. With the current minimum lenght for FIA grade 1 circuit license (requirement for F1) at "4 km unless a succesful race or similar event has been held on that course" there would be few options though: only Talladega, Daytona, Indy, Pocono, Rafaela and Monza have ovals of that length used for racing, all others are test tracks.
It's a giant go-kart track. The drivers will probably say it's fun to drive on but not among their favourites, while it'll be a snoozefest on TV. Even the back straights are too short. for passing.
Anyone else randomly get this video recommended in late 2020
It's a Formula 1 two-seater. David Coulthard was driving and he had a passenger with him. :)
It definitely sounds like it's got one of those mid-late 90's V-10's in it.
it is actually one of the twoseaters of the MinardiF1X2 Team, just with some different livery. That car is based on the 97 Tyrell F1.
the new circuit in Portimao , Portugal is one of the best in the world....amazing track ...you all should see that....
Those slow corners mixed with the very vast, longs straights is what makes Yas Marina so unique.
wow what a pit exit!!
and wat an awesome track to finish off the season
hopefully bruno will be driving in an f1 car next season
Did you forget Sepang?
Yes, in early days (1999) he did a decent layout.
This one is a 'bit' different but al least, seems wider enough for some overtake.
I hope so... :)
What we all want is tracks with gradients, thats why Interlagos, Spa and Monaco are so loved, the only new track i like is Turkey.
It's a two seats - GP2 car with a reanult V10 engine.
What an amazing track!!!!
He is hitting top gear and top speed. It's probably the perception from a wide opened empty track.
the pit lane exit is crazy man!
Nice track... i saw some points where you could probably try an overtaking maneuver.... although this track may look boring i think there are some possibilities of overtaking because there are long straighs
whoa, in the first seconds you could think that this has some 80s f1 turbo engine in it :D
Tilke will build some comfortable, air-conditioning, well-illuminated 5 km ovals. In Asia, of course.

Can't wait for the F1 Race
u gotta give tilke credit for bahrain gp. that circuit is awesome
its a 2-seater arrows f1 car and it can reach speeds of 180 mph +, not much slower
Herman Tilke kills F1 with his circuits. I want classical tracks like Spa, Silverston, Imola, Suzuka ect..
It is an F1 car - a two-seater Minardi.
I saw that and that made me wonder even more. If I was in that back seat I would want him to go as fast as possible.
thats a really cool track
No, it's modified old Minardi. With V10 engine of course.
fantastic circuit
Tilke.....one word: FAST CORNERS, please.
:P
I can count fast corners on his tracks on one hand.... actually he made only one well known hard corner, in turkey.
When I saw the first 3D renders of this track about an year ago or something, I thought it looks just like a video game called Trackmania. And it still does.
A1 ring is actualy half a Tilkedrome. Therefore I say bring back the Österreichring, the name of the track Herman turned into the A1 ring.
wow, thanks chuck.
Oh man! Great news about Kimi. I hope you're right about it. I can't wait to see Kimi back to Maca.
I couldnt agree with you more 374349, The best new circuit I have seen in ages is the one in Portugal, Portimao. Now thats what circuits should be like! F1 have tested there.
The pitlane exit is a strange layout, should be interesting to see how the drivers cope with it!
Great track.
in addition, some sections are almost like a street circuit, fences close to track, buildings so near... nothing wrong if it weren't a permanent road course.
He didn't race Gp2 this season he raced in the Le mans Series and the Le mans 24 hours
Yes A1 Ring... a race in Austria would be the best.....
p.s.: I 'm from austria ...xD
remind me to watch this next time i am having trouble sleeping...
Anyone know what engine is in that car? Almost sounds like a detuned V10.
Btw - we need you Bruno in F1 next year!
He has a guest in the back of the car! Watch the beginning and you'll see a second person, They don't want to take unnecessary risk with a guest on board!
Looks like a great facility.
seems like a nice, innovative track, should be interesting to watch.

There won't be one as far as I know it's illegal to sell alcohol in that country.

A1 ring is the only track he's done properly.. and it got taken of the calender...
there are some flows to the track design i mean the chicane at before the hairpin in section 1 is pointlees because that takes away the overtaking into that bend. Perosnally as a driver i think its a great track to drive But can i see overtaking?
Yeah, real great but I wonder when they're ever going to build and utilize sun panels.
Wonder what time did he go?
4 minutes?
LOL!
I think there were too many chicanes but looks like it will be an exciting one. Love the Pit exit
die strecke ist mal richtig geil^^
am meisten gefällt mir die stelle,wo die unter dem hotel fahren und besonders die BOXENAUSFAHRT !!!!
Pit exit looks interesting, but that's about it. With all the buildings surrounding the track it reminds me more of an airport than anything else.
Lol thanks for your input too, I think that the squarebarrel finally Got It!!! hahaha
Impressive grandstands, I'm sure it'll look great in the dark...
Shame the racing that'll be on offer will be so dull - given the hundreds of millions of dollars that have gone into making this circuit you'd think they'd come up with something better than the Hungaroring in the desert...
love the pitlane exit
Ahh it dosnt look that bad, its got a bit of promise, couple of 160s. Like the section before the hotel/bridge thing. Look forward to the race.
I miss Ayrton
zajebisty tor! beda super wyscigi!!
Very long pit lane exit!!
Slow of course. It's only an installation lap on a track that is very dusty. That's like riding on ice. No marshals to mop up a race car :p
A couple thoughts: Very short run into turn 1 means KERS cars won't gain as much of advantage when the lights go out. Expect action (offs/brake lockup) through the right handers 15/16/17. because he's supposed to feel the track
i think the track is awesome, but maybe the racing will be dull for the fans
Grass and pieces of tarmac outside the track everywhere... where are the times a driver was OUT when he made a big mistake? Uninspired, I agree with that word.
No!

Next year there will be pitstops. Don't they have to put new tires on?
Hermann Tilke, spoiling the F1 championship since 1996
sounds like the mid 90s v10s
Why is he going so slow? It looks to me that he should be going a lot faster.
estan mirando al campeon del mundo 2010 fuerza bruno
@bubi8894 That's because the engine is a detuned 1997 Renault V10 ;)
Very nice track and view but the pilot was kind of slow, F1 ?????
Tilke should have been banned from designing tracks after he did Bahrain.
I think you'll find that most F1 circuits have more run-off areas than a modern airport now. I still think the grandstands etc are stunning. The circuit left me a bit cold. Maybe at speed, it will be better?? I hope so. Kers cars will piss over the others. It looks very point and squirt.
hes sclowing down the car 2 early on the turns
"longest on any track in the world" you would have to be a SPA to say that! xD
God damn, these new sandpit tracks are so uninspired. Hoping that the last race of the season can prove me wrong but count me sceptical.
looks real wide, should be plenty overtaking
yes thats the way
you cruise and then you push a bit and then push again a bit until you find a pace :)
look at schumi after 3 years of doing nothing he is at top10..
i wish the best for senna and i think that he will prove and honor the name that he carries
That car sounds better than todays F1 cars.
sounds like the old Renault V10 and Bruno isn't even stretching it.
That's fine since F1 cars are giant go-karts.
it looks like if they built a track around an airport terminal... it looks cramped but the track itself looks promising
I don't think it is that much less safe compared to a normal pit lane with an armco either side. I'm pretty sure there will be safety measures incase of an accident in the tunnel. The circuit doesn't look that boring compared to say, Valencia and I there looks like quite a few opportunities for overtaking.
who is the guy at the back?
It is AJE sport gp2 car is it not?
looks like a kers track. mclaren will go strong in this
F

After my chicane redesign I don't think I could do worse...
@aussiecricket100 That's because there's someone in the back of the car so he's got to be really cautious.
Probably because he has another person and the car handles differently. He also probably doesn't want to crash with a passenger.
No, that's a Renault RS9, from 1997. Well, that sounds like it. Could be a 1998 Supertec tho :P
why would he do that, considering those tracks are already established?
It's a giant go-kart track. The drivers will probably say it's fun to drive on but not among their favourites, while it'll be a snoozefest on TV. Even the back straights are too short. for passing.
It is slow when you compare it with non tilke designed international circuits.
