In todays episode we start the classic mini for the first time in 2 years. and we begin to learn about the little teething problems and plan to rectify them.

And Here you will be able to follow my classic mini restoration from start to finish! It is an Austin Mini Mayfair 998cc registered in 1986. I bought the car with 2 months MOT and it was running although the slave cylinder had gone. My plans for the car are to restore it to my standards just like my Orange one if not even better... if thats possible. More videos on the way of the classic mini so be sure to subscribe and keep up to date.

Tom, Wow what a build up lol, I wish Someone could have taken a photo of your face when she first cranked over it was priceless. When you told me the amount of time you spend editing your videos i was stunned but i can see why they take so long now! I need to take some ideas from your videos and improve mine a lot! Binged most of the episodes today, in the midst of restoring a classic mini of my own. Planning on getting it ready by next summer. Your episodes have given me a lot of inspiration of things to have in mind, love it! Really enjoyable stuff. Hopefully i'll be able to take the car on a road trip from Sweden to UK, back to it's origin and to a meet.

Hey Phillip! thanks mate! at the moment its a full stainless steel LCB manifold. at the moment there is no link pipe or exhaust on the car hence why it sounds like a V8 Hemi Engine haha!! thankyou for your positivity aswell!

Wow what a way to get thr engine started. One to remember forever. Good to see the guys together. What an experience. The heater matrix comes with different sized and spaced outlet pipes depending on the age of mini as i also found out. Any ideas in the pipeline of what car is next?
Dale! it was a really good day and like i say the people i have met through youtube and made friends with weather in this country or thousands of miles away is worth way more that views and subscribers! I'll certainly remember the day it started anyway! as for whats next im looking at MG's or maybe VW what do you recon?
Totally agree. Met some really good guys and hope to meet many more. VW's and MG's sound good to me. Had a look around and test drive in a 1956 morris minor last week.nearly bought it but just didn't work out but watch this space 😁

Love your video man! I'm from Quebec, the french part of canada (sorry for the bad english), I just discovered your video and i've binge watch them those last few day haha! I'd love to buy a mini but they're pretty expensive here in canada! It's sure a dream of mine to restore one of those little toy someday! Keep on the good work and have a good day!

The absolut cheapest plated in here are about 6000£, and rolling shell are about 2300£! In Quebec (don't know about the rest of canada) the rules about car are pretty strict and you need to passe big and expansive mechanical inspection for a car that haven't been plated for a while, so it's a big project to start with a rolling shell!

Hi, I’ve just brought a mini Mayfair. What do you recommend I do first ?
Try and find all the bad areas... I.E rust, parts that have failed ... if you plan to keep using it make sure its safe but if you want to do a full restoration, strip the car and take silly amounts of pictures so you remember where everything goes :)

Normally id have no issue in telling people how much this car stands me at. However I've realised speaking money can also bring plenty of negativity as well as being positive. I would be more than happy to speak about this on a personal level but I don't feel comfortable broadcasting this on youtube. But to give you an idea... I have been exceptionally anal with this car and not used a single crusty bolt on this car. So you can imagine its been more expensive than usual.

Hi mate, Its not got one on at the moment its jut got the LCB manifold on so should be quieter when i fit the proper exhaust :)
The mini sound's like a beast Tom great job mate. Just two points the side indicators should have O rings fitted between the holder and the lamp also get an overflow pipe fitted to the top of the rad leading down under the sub frame. Nice to see all the mini guy's get together helping you out look forward to seeing the next episode mate cheers Rob

I did notice the different between the 2 white t -shirts and I did say 7 . The Mini ticks over really nicely and at least the heater matrix was easier to fit compared to a modern car which normally means taking most of the dashboard out

How could you tell to advance or retard the timing?
If the car sounds like it’s going to stall advance the timing of it over runs when you turn ignition off, retard the timing
