@@SSJdavey i wouldn't say its length, people generally mean what was in the package. RE3 orginal was short but had loads to do that made or ecnouraged you pick it up again. What if i go this path, what if i say this, what if i run from nemesis here then kill him here? etc. I believe in my humble opinion is why they tacked on that weird multiplayer game. They knew you were getting half the meal you should have gotten.
@@SSJdavey Similar to what Lost Remote said, I think it is inaccurate to say that the RE3 Remake’s problem was simply being “short”, since a lot of the pre-RE4 games were also short. Instead, I would prefer this analogy to illustrate a better way to describe it. Metaphorically, RE3 Original is a massive multi-pathed puzzle escape room, which could take anywhere from 60 minutes to 10 minutes to complete (depending on whether you already know the solutions or could figure them out faster). Meanwhile, the RE3 Remake is a theme park’s haunted house attraction with just a single path, the end of which can take anywhere from 12 minutes to 20 minutes to reach (depending almost entirely on how fast or slow the person chooses to walk forward). The former can technically be ended more quickly by a speed-runner, but it has the potential to keep a newcomer entertained for longer, provide more in-depth challenge, and encourage later revisits.
I used to play Outbreak and Outbreak 2 online, it was so much fun. We seriously need an RE game with online multiplayer option, not all of us like scary single player games and it's calming to have friends with you
I played those hours on end after school when they were released. You couldnt communicate online so you had to use gestures. so many funny moments and friendly stupidity. good memories.
Out of all the RE3 Remake’s positive reviews, I think this is one of the best and fairest ones I have seen. You articulated why it was an enjoyable game for you quite well, while also respectfully stating why those same elements are not as well liked by other fans. *I think my favorite aspects of the RE3 Remake were its…* 1.) Portrayal of Carlos 2.) Improved Hunter Betas 3.) Spencer Memorial Hospital segment 4.) Dodge mechanic that actually works 5.) Reintroduction of the Lickers (though, I would have preferred more than a couple of glorified cameos) 6.) Pale Heads becoming canonical enemies 7.) Various soundtracks that were new/reimagined 8.) Few expanded subplots like with Dr. Bard 9.) Added connective tissue with RE2 Remake, such as the Marvin and Kendo scenes. *From a standpoint of story and characters, the main things I missed from the original were its…* 1.) Opening battle scene 2.) More detailed epilogue of Raccoon City’s destruction 3.) Subplot about Nikolai killing his fellow monitors 4.) Nemesis’ partially damaged form 5.) Nemesis shooting down the rescue helicopter with his rocket launcher, late in the story at the clocktower 6.) Some alternate scenarios offered by the original: Brad being finished off by Nemesis, Jill exploring the RPD, the optional boss fight with Nikolai in the chopper, and Barry being able to save Jill as an alternate ending. *I think the story/character elements, where my feelings are more mixed, include these…* 1.) I like both portrayals of Nikolai for different reasons. 2.) While I like the new Tyrell, who is clearly given a bigger role, I think his character could have been even more unique if he retained a few implied traits of his original counterpart. For example, the original seemed to imply that Tyrell was another secret monitor working for Umbrella’s higher-ups, whom Nikolai betrays. If that was incorporated into the remake’s more expanded Tyrell, that could have been the groundwork for a neat character arc, where he goes from a secretive enemy to repentant ally. 3.) Regarding Nemesis’ portrayal outside of gameplay, I think some of their approaches could have worked better in a different context. For example, Nemesis throwing Jill around in the cutscenes could make sense, if the remake’s Nemesis was more explicitly established as having the personality of a sadistic serial killer, who loves the thrill of the hunt and toys with his victims. He even sort of does that during OG RE3’s gameplay, when he has Jill in his grasp. 4.) What if Nemesis started out wearing a trench coat that looked like his original counterpart? But then, once Nemesis gets defeated at the clocktower and his suit torn to shreds, his next appearance could have him dressed in that cobbled-together suit resembling body bags and “Caution!” tape. Once the second mandatory boss fight begins, Nemesis tears off those rags to reveal his classic shirtless form, with the multiple tentacles. *I have also been able to show Baffled Buffon my own rough redesign of Nemesis’ face, but TH-cam seems to not be allowing me to post comment links, so I would need to tell you where to find my original comment with the link.* 5.) Regarding the remade Nemesis’ beast forms, I think it would have been better to save those for the very end. Over the course of the final battle, players could blow off his arm, head, and chest cavity. Each bit of damage reveals more of the parasite, until Nemesis finally looks like the original’s final form. 6.) About the new Hunter Gammas, I love the way they are designed, as enemies by their own merits. But given that RE3 is already supposed to have the Gravedigger(s), I think that reimagined Hunter Gamma design could work better, as a new Hunter-based enemy in RE Revelations, while the RE3 Remake’s Hunter Gammas are designed more like the shark giants in “Bloodborne”.
@@SSJdavey I just rediscovered where I first left the link. Basically, look up this TH-cam video uploaded by Baffled Buffoon titled “THE DIRECTOR SPEAKS OUT!! Welcome to Raccoon City Resident Evil reboot commentary trailer reaction”. In the comment section of that video, you should be able to find a comment chat, between me and B.B., where I posted the link in one of those replies. It is a link to a Google Slides document I made, where I summarize how I would envision Nemesis’ introduction, within a hypothetical RE3 movie adaptation. My imagined facelift for Nemesis is somewhere in the middle of those slides. Also, there are some plot differences in my version of the story, such as Enrico and Kenneth both still being alive when the Raccoon City Incident begins (that way, Brad can have his scene with Marvin as a zombie, while Nemesis still has S.T.A.R.S. members to kill).
The worst thing about this game is the lack of Barry. Og 3 had one of the few appearances from Barry. He flies the helicopter that saves you. You can also let Nicolia escape, those are the 2 biggest mistakes in 3make.
The "vision" for this game was just: "ok we have this multiplayer game (resistance) being made but people are complaining theres no singleplayer. So lets just slap together a half assed campaign for RE3 and charge 60$ for what basically feels like 30$ experience and cut half the content from the OG release including the famously loved clocktower sequence etc." Not to mention the outrageously priced collectors edition that didnt even have that much effort put into it.🙄
Basically, they made an action game with near zero replayability.. Every time I think about the more action-packed segments that really lended themselves to this new fast-paced, twitch gameplay... I remember that the majority of my playthrough is going to be spent in cutscenes and heavily scripted events.
Dunno dude, I've replayed it a couple times and eager to go for another round, the game was clearly made for action movie lovers in the style of Aliens, Terminator 2 and Predator, embracing action in horror but also good cinematography. It's my favorite RE so far, even if not the scariest.
The game just needed to be longer and use live selection. It didn't have to be a lot, maybe 3 or 4 big choices that effects where Jill goes and where Carlos goes. Imagine sending Jill to the RPD instead of Carlos? Or Carlos fighting at the Clock tower and getting infected? Other that that, I don't mind the changes such as Carlos in the RPD, the Brain suckeres nest and meeting Nemesis and The Umbrella Soldiers earlier, but they should've kept the clock tower and we should've had more time with bipedal stalker Nemesis. Also, Gravedigger. Even if only for one boss fight, it would've been a good addition. I think the beast Transformation of Nemesis was cool, but only for the waste disposal fight. Considering its just a repeat of the tower fight, it felt a bit cheap repeating that fight but with Zombies and electricity added on. And going straight from that fight into the final fight was pretty underwhelming. We needed a big bulk of story between that and the final fight.
@@SSJdavey Thank you. I think maybe one or two more missions with Carlos would've been fine. Perhaps 4 in total altermating between choices. Obviously with it being Jill's story you don't want too much Carlos, but I liked his sections in the game, tbh.
Bro the clock tower being cut was unforgivable. When you play the game it feels like there’s supposed to be another section before the Carlos hospital sequence and it was just cut for no reason. And like you said, it was stupid to have a repeated boss fight AND the final fight back to back. Honestly I hate what they did to nemesis. When he turned into the giant licker he just became another boss and lost all intelligence. They should’ve kept him in humanoid form a lot longer. They should’ve gave us a lot more areas to explore downtown. The game should’ve ended with dead factory and not another fucking lab, that was just pure laziness. Their goal when making this game was to use as few new assets as possible and as many reused re2 assets. As for Carlos in the RPD, it was stupid and made no sense. Why would this doctor guy they’re looking for be at the police station, specifically in the stars office? Like that whole part of the game was stupid. They never even explained how the hole in the wall got there on the 3rd floor
These were a few ideas I had, for how the live-selection mechanic could have been replicated and used to the remake’s advantage: *1.) Either leave Brad behind or persuade him to still accompany you, after he is bitten.* If you do the latter, then Nemesis will finish off Brad in the parking garage, rather than him merely succumbing to infection. Also, when the Brad zombie appears at the RPD, an alternate cutscene will show Marvin get surprised and injured by a Nemesis parasite emerging from Brad, rather than Brad “talking”. *2.) Decide whether it is Carlos/Tyrell or Jill/Mikhail/Nikolai who visits the RPD or Raccoon Park.* If Jill’s group enters the RPD, she will be the one who meets the Licker, contacts Dr. Bard, etc. Nemesis will later intercept Jill at the RPD, allowing Mikhail to sacrifice himself there. Meanwhile, Carlos and Tyrell stay with the civilians on the train, which now gets derailed by a Gravedigger’s burrow. Once the civilians are killed by Sliding Worms and Drain Deimos, Carlos explores the original’s park area and finds his unique items there, instead of at the RPD. Finally, whether Jill arrives at the clocktower from the park or RPD will determine which section of the clocktower she is able to enter first. That would mirror the original’s decision, where Jill can enter the clocktower at different points, depending on whether she jumps out or applies the cable car’s emergency brake. *3.) Indirectly decide, whether Nikolai can instantly steal the vaccine sample from Jill and sticks around, or if he needs to look for the vaccine and rushes to board the escape chopper.* If the player keeps the vaccine sample in Jill’s inventory, then the cutscene of Nikolai stealing it plays out as normal. But if the player makes Jill store the vaccine away in an item box, then a frustrated Nikolai will just drop Jill into the pit and leave, without bothering to collect combat data. This makes him reach the chopper soon enough to commandeer it, initiating that optional boss fight from the original and setting up Barry Burton to save Jill. *4.) Allow players to create an alternate fate for either Carlos or Nikolai in each of the two possible ending paths.* During the confrontation on foot between Jill/Carlos and Nikolai, the player can get Carlos killed by not quite shooting Nikolai fast enough. This triggers an alternate epilogue where Jill angrily finishes off Nikolai with a second gunshot, but his accusation that she “cannot pull the trigger” still haunts her. In the confrontation where Nikolai attacks them with the commandeered chopper, Nikolai can either be shot down or fly away to escape Raccoon City’s destruction, depending on how long the fight drags on. This is similar to Nikolai’s other alternate fate in original RE3.
Just a small correction, in classic RE3 it is not just illusion, Nemesis has scripted apparitions but he also actually stalks you when you are downtown (after the first encounter with Carlos).
Thats great, always happy with a correction - I was certain he always appeared at the same times/ places after key events and would patrol only limited areas from there
Nemesis appeared with event triggers but it was so awesome your first playthrough you didn't know where he would show up. After awhile you could figure it out or listen to to the demonic horror of the music shift when it got super heavy and dark. You knew then he was just next door or get to far in the room with the main camera off the door and he is going to come in.
@@lostremote2400 thats what humors me. people think the original is some multi-playtrough game. You can literally go through it twice and have seen everything. Nemesis appears in all his scripted areas and the areas he chases you will change slightly...mostly based on the camera angle hiding the door he comes through lol
I agree. As a OG RE veteran, i can appreciate retellings. But let's be honest, no one bad mouths re3 remake until you start comparing it to the original. But that same thing can be applied to re2 remake, as that had a lot removed as well. RE3 remake, in my opinion, plays very smooth, gives us the better versions of the main characters, gave us a better hospital area. and the story of the incoming missile is better. Though yes, i was upset many areas were removed. I wanted to see the park and dead factory. I also didnt mind the nemesis redesign though i wish we had the 2nd form where he's still humanoid. The final fight, aside from inferno mode, was fairly easy and a direct call to the alien queen from Aliens. Marvin getting bit was cool as was giving us the licker. Kendo was cool. but i was bugged that we never got to go find out what happened to Dario. There we no crows or spiders, very little dogs, no blue herbs ink ribbons. way too many safe opportunities. the game was fairly easy which is a let down. I do understand that the whole point is to escape the city which is why the game moves forward fast. The original game had too many dumb moments of puzzle solving that didnt make sense for what the goal of the game was. But all in all, i didnt mind the re3 remake. on its own itsd ok. I just think as fans we wish it had more.
Agreed the platinum is much more easier compared to RE2 remake, that’s just a harder game in comparison to RE3. The only difficulty thing about RE3 is the inferno difficulty and nemmy stun locking you. I honestly just beat code veronica last year… I’m not sure what’s harder that or 0 (you know the lack of a inventory box and the buddy system). Honestly CVX is just a hard resident evil in general to me.
@@NinjaSlayer996 Yeah, I struggle with both games but they're all I got left of the mainline entries. I don't think I'll even try Operation Raccon City or Umbrella Corps. I guess I could also do the new gen trophy lists as well
@@SSJdavey Yeah I think the game is fun too. I just don't have good enough internet to play online. Or else I would. Also I used Darkness's Everyman's guide to the game. It helped me so much with my hardcore s+ runs
@@SSJdavey Just realize those were actually the Drain Deimos. They weren't that scary in the original infact they made me laugh the way they would waddle. But damn in the remake they terrified me and made me think they were mutated spiders at first.
The original RE3 gave us the iconic Nemesis & yet he was treated like a joke in this remake. Mr X was more of a Nemesis than Nemesis & wasn't changed into a Licker dog. The game being fun still does not exscuse it's huge shortcomings. It only hold up to pissing me off each time I go back to it.
Not gonna lie, I absolutely loathe this game with a passion, too much cut content, way too many cutscenes/walkie talkie/quick time event sections. Nemesis relegated to basically the same scripted boss fight multiple times. Graphics and gore was toned down from RE2 Remake. There's no replay value, practically no unlockable outfits. I found Jill to be a pretty unlikable potty mouth and Carlos just let's her walk all over him. Also you mentioned that maybe there were deadline issues, this is not the case RE3R and RE2R we being developed at the same time by two different teams. This was the game they wanted to make. OG RE3 was the game that got me in to the series and after seeing how good the RE2R was I was so excited for this game, by the time I'd finished it I actually felt insulted and offended. It left a very sour taste in my mouth and the 1, 2 punch of this game and Village killed any personal interest or investment in future RE titles.
@@SSJdavey Gameplay wise, I strongly dislike 1st person games, I find them very disorienting, uncomfortable, and over used. Not being able to see the character I'm playing as makes it really hard for me to connect with them. It doesn't help that Ethan is very bland and just kind of.... there, as far as personality goes. Reattaching limbs with a bit of liquid, but not knowing that he's mould at the time will never not be dumb to me. If they guy can just shrug off losing limbs, any concern for his health or tension I may have felt goes completely out of the window. Enemies weren't really scary (apart from the baby) and I just couldn't take any of the four lords seriously. They all talk WAAAY too much. My eyes rolled into the back of my skull when I heard that 'Boulder Punching' line from Heisenberg. A mutated monster I can converse with is not scary & kills any mystique they may have had. It just comes across as goofy to me. Story wise, Mia isn't exactly a likeable character from all the stuff she did in 7, (which I've tried many times to play through, but lose all motivation &/or interest to keep playing about an hour in). So I have no desire to save her and find it hard to feel any sympathy for her. Rose is divided into collectable parts and can be revived so again, there's no tension, consequence or sense of urgency if her death can just be undone like magic. It all results in a perfect storm of characters I don't know or like, with a gameplay style I really don't enjoy and a lack of connection to the main series, apart from the last minute, ham-fisted retcon, with Miranda inspiring umbrella and the presence of Chris (Who's character also wasn't great in Village). I'm at least glad 7 exists because it brought back the survival horror aspect to the series, but 7 & 8 just aren't resident evil games to me. No doubt, action has a place in RE, I'm not against it completely, but I prefer it when action is the side dish and horror is the main course not the other way around. Resident Evil is a lot of different things to a lot of different people and that's cool, but everything that I loved about the franchise personally is long gone, the series to me, feels like it's been infected with it's own G virus & overtime has mutated beyond all recognition, similar to Birkin in RE2. It's kind of like that old thought exercise with the boat, where you keep replacing parts of it over time, until eventually, every part has been replaced. Is it still the same boat even though it has the same name and is treated as the original? Sorry for the long reply, and I hope I didn't bore you, but I wanted to give you a proper answer. Thank you for your reply and question. Even though I didn't enjoy RE3R, I did still enjoy your video 🙂🙂
I really enjoyed reading this and learning the rationale behind your opinion With the 3rd person mode coming to village in October does that give you an incentive to give it another shot even though the plot/ characters wont be improved?
@@SSJdavey Thank you for reading through it, it was admittedly pretty long winded response. What do you think about Village and how it ties into the series? Do you think it was a step in the right direction? I know I'm in the minority with my opinion, so I'm always interested to hear other RE fans perspective. Yes, my ears did perk up when I heard 7 will feature a 3rd person option and I will definitely give it a try. I've completed every other main-line game and even learned to speed-run a few, so I would like to be able to at least say I've completed 7, and the same for 8 once I've purchased it. Fortunately, I'm taking my disheartened feelings towards RE and channelling it in a productive way by creating my own survival horror game 😁
I loved how it tied in, my jaw was on the floor reading the files in the lab area. Explaining how the sisters worked, how the lycans were created and how Spencer was her protegee was all gold for me. I lapped it right up! For me 7 was the step in the right direction the series needed, 8 was 4s item management/ economy which I love but with puzzles and exploration which I adore from the earlier entires so it felt like a great fusion. Over on my podcast In PS We Trust: a PlayStation Podcast we gave it our game of the year last year! Making your own game, I'd love to check it out when you're ready to show it 👌
The best aspect of a good horror RE game is giving the player not enough resources to destroy everything, but just enough that they survive through the skin of their teeth. Too much ammo & healing reduces difficulty, which reduces the demand on the player to perform mechanically and intelligently via resource management. I find the best resident evil games, REmake 1 & REmake 2 make the player consistently stressed and barely able to survive which creates a more fulfilling experience beating that difficulty and reaching the comfort of safe room music, new loot, and a well earned ink ribbon save. REmake 3s level design and resource management isn't as excellent as the last 2 remakes in this regard
Its hard to call it a 'great game' when it was a carbon copy of RE2 as it was intended to be DLC. So when you take that away you are left with the same exact thing you played the previous year, with less content and a abysmal performance from a developer that should have known better and knew what fans wanted. It was not this.
@@SSJdavey for most people ive spoken with it was the same thing right down to the user interface. and that conversation starts with mostly "i didnt like.....". Its obvious it had problems behind closed doors but the damage has been done. 😬
It was such a waste of potential. There was definitely a lot of stuff that was cut, forms for Nemesis and the gameplay and story were failures. Maybe if the game had been DLC and they'd been honest about what it was(instead of lying in the marketing) selling it for $15 or $20 then there'd be less to complain about. But they didn't. They marketed and sold it as a full game for $65-$70 for less than three hours of content and zero replay value.
I get that view point and alot of people feel the same, I replayed the balls off this entry due to its quick run time and I enjoyed it for what it is but I think your right they should have been more open about what there vision was and priced accordingly
@@SSJdavey yeah, I know some people love it for what it is. I just have a lot of bitterness because I believed the marketing after being impressed with RE2R that I preordered the game for $70, plus the 'classic costumes' pack and eagerly followed each trailer or interview in the months leading up to the release. I vividly remember the interviews promising players would and could 'explore more of Raccoon City than ever before.' and that Nemesis would be dynamic in pursuing the player far more than Mr X did in RE2R. Then none of that was in the final product. To say I was shocked, disappointed and livid when I realized I'd finished the game in one sitting in two and a half hours(and I took my time trying to explore) would be an understatement. When I learned that Dev 1 hadn't even been bothered to do most of the work and the game had been outsourced so Dev 1 could work on RE Village and found all the cut content(some of it is still in the game data) that disappointment grew exponentially. I'm glad they've learned their lesson from RE3R(they were originally going to outsource RE4R too) by bringing it back to Dev 1 and not cutting as much content or rushing the development, I'm just sad it came at the expense of the legacy of one of the greatest of the original trilogy. RE3 original was my first RE game and it still holds up after all these years. I don't see RE3R being able to claim the same in ten years.
I recently played 2&3 remakes and beat village just 30 minutes ago on hardcore difficulty. 3 seems to be just a shell of its former self. It’s very short and too linear while the nemesis boss battles were meh. It also suffered from no multiple paths. Which if true to the original, it would of had multiple endings and replay value. 2 is better than 3. However, village beats both. Village is like basically an expansion of part 4. I’m gonna play 6 and biohazard next.
7 (biohazard) is one of my favourites, its more like the original trilogy in terms of its design wheras as you stated 8 is more like 4, I think you'll enjoy it. 6 is a divisive one, some adore it while I think it hangs around way too long for its own good Hope you have a great time in them regardless 🙌
Tried my best to get into 8 but it had no horror at all just fps with zombies instead of enemy soldiers. This was also pressed home during the chris section, running and gunning with action music. It wasnt a fear factor rescue mission it was a take no prisoners bumrush. It was good, dont get me wrong just wasnt scary but was advertised as scary with a bit of body horror.
I found the atmosphere of 8 great but it dissapates when you engage in combat. The chris section is proper action, its just another day on the job for him at this point and I think that's what they tried to convey 🤷♂️
I found it to be horror like. Being in the catacombs when that mechanic monster that’s huge breaks through the wall and begins chasing you was pretty scary the first time.
This game is honestly one of my favorites in the series, I absolutely love the classic Re3 but I also really love what the remake does as a survival horror game and as a different take on the original game. I think the game is amazing for what it is and what capcom was able to do with the re formula just like RE2R, both 2 and 3 truly do make for thrilling speedruns and I find myself endlessly coming back to them to casually play through and speedrun them.
I think it's also a bad game. Even if we put aside Original (which is also a flawed game but stil in "good tier" regardless), game is full of reused assets, boring maps, cinematics and scripted events. I mean some of them could very well put into game as playable content. Why we don't fight Nemesis properly in a boss fight sequence? Writing wasn't good either. Nemesis never kills Jill when he has the chance. Everyone swears to Nemesis from the beginning, and when this combined with Nemesis' only presence being in cutscenes and Scripted events, he is not a good or scary villain anymore. Take out Nemesis from 3, what's left? Literally nothing.
Holy that was a great and really fair review ,I wouldn't expect to see one from a person that loves the og re3 .I adored the game ,although it was much different than the og ,it was so fun.Your last phrase perfectly summarizes the whole RE3R situation ''Everyone seems to hate this game, because of everything it's not,but I love it for everything it is'' .Honestly that's how games should be viewed in all cases.
It was a bad game and a bad remake. That would have been fine except it was incredibly patronizing in what it offered. Meager offerings of what the old game had and some of the most terrible dialog ive heard from any characters mouth in recent memory. Its a real knife twist when speaking about this how hostile it becomes or a misdirection/falsehood fest as to why it was a heap. Thank you SSJdavy for wanting to have a actual discussion about it.
I love heading everyone's opinions and no-one is right or wrong, it's good to discuss 👌 What was wrong with the dialogue? Nothing stood out to me as bad, I thought it was quite charming (carlos anyway)
@@SSJdavey I agree with him with the dialog, it feel like if i was watching one of the Resident Evil movies of Paul Anderson, hell, even Jill looks and sound like Alice from those movies
@@mateoreyes6921 it's all subjective in the end but I feel that's like comparing apples to turds, both the acting and directing in this game was phenomenal, it was made by a team from Platinum games, the ones that made Bier Automata, Bayonetta, Vanquish, MG Revegence and it shows. This Jill Valentine is a badass in the lines of Sarah Connor and Ripley, I feel a lot of fragile ego men wanted a passive girl like in those rail gun shooters from the Wii, breaking a zombie's neck with her thighs.
@@user-zf1jf8zd8s if you like it feel free my dude. but dont lie to the Jill | Re faithful and tell us its a good game. that's dana carvy's piss becoming taster's choice joke.
I was bitterly disappointed in RE3make. The original is my personal favourite in the series, and I just can't excuse the rushed job the developers did with this game, in order to cash in on the success of its predecessor. As flawless as the RE2 remake formula is, part of me wonders if the game may have worked better if the developers used the same approach as the RE1 remake. The fixed camera angles really did create some fantastic atmosphere, and it made Nemesis more terrifying. This game just had no soul. Seemingly designed as a brainless shooter for for speed-runners to flaunt their skills.
Yeah I covered tormented souls last year which was essentially old skool resi design. If you want mass market you can't go back to tank even though it would be the hypest thing ever for me and the old school fans. A dlc chapter with tank controls like re5 did with lost in nightmares would be perfect as a compromise
Going back to your RE3 Remake review, I think a wider range of fans could have been satisfied, if the remake replaced/added these locations (and offered these kinds of story choices, which I brainstormed elsewhere in this section)… *Location Replacements/Additions* *1.) Have the uptown area be an explorable place Jill can backtrack to, connected to the downtown area by the subway entrances.* To give Nemesis more subtle buildup like in the original, have Jill flee her apartment space after Brad’s warning, then immediately hear the sounds of a large creature smashing into her emptied room and searching it. *2.) Cut out that set-piece on top of the building under construction (and give its role to the clocktower).* Jill can initially believe Nemesis was killed in the sewers instead, by a white Gravedigger collapsing rubble onto Nemesis and seemingly eating him. In turn, the effort that went to the construction site could go to recreating the clocktower, on top of which the battle against Nemesis wielding a flamethrower could take place instead. *3.) Bring back the Raccoon Park, only now it is a location which either Jill or Carlos get to explore, before they reach the clocktower.* Also, the final confrontation with a brown Gravedigger could either still take place in the park or take place in the new warehouse area underneath the hospital, after Jill and Nikolai initially confront each other. *4.) Replace the NEST 2.0 Lab with the original’s Dead Factory.* Jill reaches it by driving an intact vehicle out of the hospital’s warehouse and onto a sectioned-off roadway. The vaccine synthesis puzzle could function like the original’s (in)famous water sample puzzle. The final boss battle is also set in a junkyard behind the factory, made to look like the aftermath of that battle between T-103 Tyrants and U.S. soldiers. *(POSTED EARLIER) Optional Choices That Had Potential* *1.) Have Jill decide, whether to leave the wounded Brad behind or encourage him to stay with her.* If the player chooses the latter, then Brad gets finished off by Nemesis, and his zombie self will instead surprise Marvin by sprouting a parasite (rather than “talking”). *2.) Recreate that one set-piece from the original, where an “earthquake” causes a metal container to slide in Jill’s direction.* Rather than an onscreen prompt, though, it plays out more like the remake’s rolling Toy Uncle head set-piece, only with two possible escape routes. *3.) Players could decide to have Jill/Mikhail/Nikolai visit the RPD and Carlos/Tyrell stay with the train passengers, as an alternative to vice versa (which also influences who explores the park and how Jill enters the clocktower).* If the player picks this alternate scenario, then Jill meets the RPD’s Lickers and contacts Dr. Bard. Nemesis stalks them again in the RPD, provides one additional chase (where players can down him to gain the original’s alternate shotgun), and then gets hit by Mikhail’s explosive there. Meanwhile, Carlos and Tyrell see the train get derailed by a Gravedigger’s burrow and its passengers consumed by Sliding Worms. They become the ones to explore the park, en route to the clocktower, and their unique items appear there instead of at the RPD. Finally, whether Jill explores the RPD or the park will determine how she enters the clocktower, similarly to how Jill in the original can enter it differently (based on a choice made in the cable car). *4.) Depending on whether players keep the vaccine in Jill’s inventory for Nikolai to steal, they can decide whether Nikolai tries to depart early in the chopper, leaving Jill and Carlos in need of Barry Burton’s rescue.* If players left the vaccine sample in the item box, then the cutscene will show Nikolai immediately leaving Jill for dead, to look for it and escape rather than sticking around to watch Jill fight Nemesis. Right before the final boss battle, Jill and Carlos are attacked by Nikolai in the chopper. Like in the original, players can either shoot him down or waste enough of his time that he flies off, not wanting to get nuked. Either way, we then get the alternate Barry ending. *5.) Carlos could get killed by Nikolai during the default ending’s standoff, if the player shoots him but does not do so fast enough.* An alternate ending cutscene plays out, where Jill flies herself out of Raccoon City alone, while being haunted by Nikolai’s words that she is too “weak” to pull the trigger.
That really is this game's biggest issue (aside from the length): it's a remake of Resident Evil 3. As a reimagining of one of the best games in the series, it falls flat in far too many areas. However, as a game on its own, its a lot of fun with plenty of great moments. While the game certainly isn't perfect and has its issues, I think it would have been better received by the fandom overall if it wasn't called Resident Evil 3.
RE3 is a way better game than RE2 and it always will be. RE2 doesn't have much interesting action and too much time is spent inside RPD. RE3 is the best RE game I've ever played, and I consider it perfection in terms of setting (exploration of zombie war torn RC), boss fights and mercenaries. RE3 Remake would have been a way better game than RE2 Remake if it had been made the right way. People who made RE3 Remake don't deserve to write screen plays nor make video games.
@@SSJdavey I just never liked RE2 like I loved RE3. I like the RE3 characters, the setting, weapons, boss fights, action, the mercenaries and the option to change the course of the story better. And I also love the fact that RE3 is the first RE game that focuses on Jill only with a small Carlos playable segment. What I don't like about RE2 is that Leon and Claire's campaigns are 90% identical, the same goes for RE1.
7:34 Actually they are 4 and the one that's not shown (oil additive) is the biggest pain in the rear to get cause its too far and its full of enemies at its location. But as a fan of the classics who played them 1998 and 1999 when they first came out my personal opinion now is that RE2 Remake is the best Resident Evil game ever created. Some insignificant enemies are missing but its not big deal. It represents everything a Resident Evil game should be! I kind of love RE3 Remake as well. Its a decent game.
I recently saw "Stray" and they created an large variated exploration city route and its funny that an indie company are more superior than a company like Capcom that they make an cheap "Remake" with reused assets from the previous game (RE2R) lol
Like I have said since I beat this back on ps4 pro in April 2020, RE3R would have made for a good live action or animated RE3 movie but it does not hold a candle to the og RE3 when it comes to value and substance. RE3R is a good game but it is missing 70% or more of what made the original 1999 game the banger that it was. Still love playing it and I will say that I believe they got Jill right in RE3R.
I don't understand why they didn't even bother to bring back the damage system with the recent update, at least. What a missed opportunity to improve (even a little) this disappointing remake. Meh, anyway, can't help to like it still... but damn if you're gonna pay full price for it, better get the original RE3 and a PS1 (or emulator) instead. It's GALAXIES better.
I imagine that would be quite a bit of work to add it in at this point, it would make a massive difference if they did do it. Its something I hadn't considered but now you mention it - its a missed opportunity
3 things that would have made this a better REMAKE: Barry The Mercenaries Original game’s soundtrack In the case of the latter, they did so in the previous REMAKE as a DLC, so it’s a shame they didn’t do it again.
I enjoyed 3make a lot and I think I prefer it to 2make. I liked the increased number of enemies and ammo in the 3make. And I really liked the Nemesis battles. I didn't like mr x much in the 2make. Mr ex was like a slightly scarier more annoying Mr Peterson from Hello Neighbour. Both were great games but 3 was a slightly better game for me. Fans of the original moan about what has been left out of the 3make but I think the 3make still feels like a resident evil game and does a lot more better (from a gameplay point of view).
While RE4 Remake is my favorite of the remakes. RE3, both the original and the remake, are two of my favorites. I've always loved RE3 more than RE2, and the same goes for the remakes. I love what they did with Carlos and Jill's characters. Their growth over the game is fantastic, and being someone who loved the OG Carlos and had wanted him in another game for 10+ years, I was happy to see him again. I still want him to return, alongside Jill, for another game. I'm tired of Chris and Leon. I don't want another game with the Winters family. Just give me older Jill and Carlos killing B.O.W.S. A lot of people say that Carlos wouldn't fit anywhere in the story of the new games, and I just don't get that argument. He didn't strike me as a character that would just drop everything after Raccoon City and hide away. I could totally see him forming either his own off the grid type task force to help other people who've been affected by Umbrella or joining Jill in her fight.
Hey mate. I'm about to pop into town and get £30 voucher from game to use. With that £30 I can buy Village and Res 3 ( £8 bargain ) and have a fiver spare because currently there's a capcom sale on. I've not been gaming much this year so these 2 I've yet to play ( played Res 3 when it first came out years ago ) and after these 2 hopefully I'll be back into gaming so I can buy the new Res 4 remake. Village seems to get great reviews. £17 seems a steal for it. ✌️
Very good video sir. Now, to nit pick: - OG RE 2 has the best soundtrack - The rail gun was dumb, the more puzzle-based encounter (charging the batteries) of the original Nemesis battle was a better finale, and felt more believable since the giant gun was obviously too heavy for a person to carry
Having her lift the gun and manage to shoot and aim the thing was an incredibly hard part of the action peices to take in. With how overly forceful jill was in the story you get the idea it was created '''''with those type of people in mind''''' but it just came off as incredibly stupid. That thing looked like a tank canon. Wish i could lift tank canons like that when i was in the military hah.
7:18 Another great video again! You get bonus points for the Chess reference because I love chess. This might be me being dreadful at video games, but I still found it a struggle to get the timing down for the evade mechanic in RE3 remake. I still liked RE2 remake the best because it is just a rudimentary quick time event to use defensive weapons, but you need to get the timing down for each enemy in RE3 remake to dodge correctly. The dodging is still better in RE3 remake than in the original RE3, but I found myself failing more often than not 🤣
Its just practice with re3 remake, I nailed it when I was going for the platinum, felt mega rusty on this run I missed loads on the early game and got mauled 😆
there would be a very lengthy list of things the game would need if they would. I dont think they should at this time, just use the funds to make other games and projects.
I think I'm in the minority here, but of course I got the game for $30. For that price its a perfect fast paced playthrough that contrasts the RE2 remake which requires more careful planning.
As much u agree with your review and like RE3 I would still love a nemesis edition or director cut just so that it can reach its full potential imagine what a few more areas clock tower park maybe factory or some of the cut content such as cinema library shops imagine how much more raccoon city would feel tragic heart felt and lived in the very location deserves to be thoroughly looked through but just adding some more areas like the park or clock tower would be enough the town is akin to silent hill it deserves to be explored and not to mention nemesis needs more moves weapons and chases in gameplay there no reason why we can’t get one if we raise our voices together capcom will deliver do petitions make videos and use the hashtags #RE3NemesisEditon#RE3Director Cut
I can't see it happening, God I'd love for it to exist but I think it was a one and done approach with re3 unfortunately 😕 I'll still join you though! #re3nemesisedition #RE3directorscut
@@SSJdavey thanks for comment I love your channel loved seeing all the re reviews series thanks for joining it anyway I would love one just so it can meet it’s full potential but thanks for the response love your channel keep making vids ❤️ hope re3 anyway 🤞😂
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Yes the game is not great, but I'm pretty sure I had 2x more fun playing it than re2 remake. I think re2 remake felt very dry with the grey visuals and insane lack of music
I am surprised you didn't mention the mercenaries mode. It started in the original. I think its removal was a big mistake especially since CAPCOM made this game more spectacle and action heavy. They could have added more UBCS characters. More modes would have been good. Take out Re: Verse. Heck, I was expecting another ghost survivors where you escape Raccoon City as Brad Vickers.
I love this game for what it does, but compared to RE2R it comes a bit short, feels like they thought giving a lot less was better when they gave so much on the previous one. Also, what a missed shot, they didn't included Outbreak in the game (even remastered), it would've been perfect, especially in RE3R. Anyways, RER is still the best one imo but I'm loving and enjoying the remakes. Bring back Outbreak!
There was some really good elements of this but i found some of Re2 remake a bit over rated so there was a risk that this was going to be a decline. It deserved so much more, but I will say I could replay and replay this game when it came out, so I guess it was fun and very neatly packaged. I’d have before wat more meat, but yeah nice for timed runs
I think the remake for 3 is my favorite of the series. I just replayed the game but this time on my computer (upgraded all my stuff to be able to play newer games like Gotham Knights and Cyberpunk for example). And tbh, I don't like calling this a remake cuz it's more of a straight up reimagining. The things I love about the game are the visuals, the characters. And just how immersive the game was. The game mechanics. Jill is easily my favorite character next to Leon. Carlos was awesome in this. I never played the original, so, idk how he was in the original and I think I heard somewhere that Carlos died in the original. But I loved Carlos as a character, dude was awesome. He felt like a badass and when your fighting that horde, that's awesome. The world feels insanely immersive with how beautiful the game looks. And the dodge mechanic made you feel like a badass. And I loved the pacing. It's fast and it's quick. The game is in your face firing on all cylinders and I like that in games sometimes. While I love the game, it does have some issues I think. I wish there was a couple puzzles. The first RE game I played was the RE 2 remake, and I played thru the series afterwards. And I loved some of the puzzles in that. And I wish Nemesis was more like Mr. X and felt like a constant threat, not a scripted situation. Mr. X felt like a constant threat, someone to fear. Nemesis felt like a random ass living weapon chasing you at specific points. And I wish the game was longer. It would've been awesome if the game was longer, cuz then you could've spent more time in the game. And if the game felt more open world, that would've been cool too.
@@SSJdavey I haven't played it yet. I ordered something for my computer to help with my new processor that came in already, but the other part hasn't come in yet so I haven't played Gotham Knights yet. From what I've seen, it looks great.
@@SSJdavey Maybe would happen in 10 years You know, i was just thinking, what is going to do Capcom after the Re 4 remake, make remakes of 5 and 6, make a remake of the remake of the first Re?
I think it all depends on what kind of experience you want as they are very different. Re3 remake is an action game wheras the original is survival horror (but with a more action packed flair compared to 1&2)
Not sure how I wanna put this but… as it own stand alone game outside of RE, I’ll say the remake is a meh experience. Looking at it as a resident evil game, it’s a horrible remake. I don’t know what the B- team had going on as far as deadlines and stuff but it seems really rushed and a graphically downgrade compared to the RE2 remake. From what I’ve heard I have somewhat high hopes for the RE4 remake b/c the A- team is helping develop it so, it has that going for itself. Apparently the team who worked on the RE3 remake was fired 🤷♂️
Nemesis was not nemesis. Jill was not Jill (easiest character in the whole set of games to get right: smart, confident, pretty but not anymore). This remake was not a remake. Puzzles were gone, sections cut, outfits cut or changed for unexplained reasons. QTE's that affected different parts of the game? gone. This did not need to be a full price of $60.
ms jill was also a bad mark for me too on the game. i get it devs want to try new things but what happened with jill is like if princess peach suddenly came out smoking a cigar welding a automatic weapon. It doesnt jive well for what is established with 20 some odd years of games and expanded stuff to go on.
I actually think that what sucked the most about RE3 Remake is Nicholai for so many reasons. First of all, he doesn't do anything to cover his track like he does in the original and acts like a dickhead amateur for no good reason and he constantly underestimates Jill which is really dumb on his part because he never did it in the original, second, it's never explained how he survived the train derailment, third he mocks Jill about some bullshit that she can't pull the trigger, when in fact he failed to pull the trigger on her literally three times. Nicholai's voice acting is good, but he as a whole character sucked because he made no sense. In the original he can be smart enough to fly away in the chopper while here he stays behind to for some reason mocks Jill, and he destroys the vaccine which he could have sold and made money out of it. Nicholai is just stupid in the remake.
@@SSJdavey He was perfect in the original, but he sucked in the remake. He never underestimated Jill in the original game, and he also actually shot at her instead of hesitating to pull the trigger. But the best part about Nicholai in the original is that Jill didn't know he was the enemy until Carlos discovered it and told her. Everything Nicholai did in the remake was wrong and it made no sense. And also, how is he recording the footage which shows his combat data?! Where is his camera?! So stupid! Sure, he wrote a PC log at NEST 2 but he allegedly also recorded Jill fighting Nemesis at least twice.
With the ps5 versions I was going to replay them anyway, but now with this review I’ll look at 3 for what it actually is, an action game and not compare it so much to REmake 2 which was my goty for 2019
Thats the best idea, re2 and 3 are worlds apart in every way, I hope you find some fun in replaying the game without the expectation of a survival horror experience. 2019 was a great year for games, my favourite ones were re2 and death stranding 👌
@@SSJdavey especially considering that I actually enjoy 4-6 because I knew what they were, 4 an innovative masterpiece, 5 the best 2 player co-op game ever (imo), and 6 a silly co-op game with surprisingly deep combat
@@SSJdavey what I ended up doing with 3 is actually not what I expected, it became the first game I ever speedran to completion for the platinum. I beat it in 1:24:29
I’ll take RE3 remake over Village any day. Village is just too campy and not scary at all. RE2 and RE7 are still the scariest in the series for me and that’s what I’m in it for mainly… the spookiness!
They really need a resident evil that is completely open world. You have to find your way out of the city, and multiple options on how to handle any mission or encounter. Add expansion dlcs to the outskirts of the city, nothing would beat a massive gta style city with zombies, being hunted by nemesis, dodging lickers all the while trying to complete the goals needed to get out of the city.
@@SSJdavey RE3 Remake left a bad taste in my mouth for so long especially since the original was my all time fave as a teen. I was so bummed to see it didnt get the love re2 remake got, but analogy of it being more of a summer blockbuster type helped put in perspective for me - so thank you
Worst is many casual and gen Z gamers who haven't played the og, contribute to this sales, that's why capcom feel "safe" by releasing 2 and 3 remake and they again butchered the 4
The jury is out on 4, we'll have to wait and see I honestly don't think capcom can win with it though, it's so loved by so many people it's going to be tough for them. Personally I don't hold 4 in the same regard as most so I'm fairly confident I'll enjoy it 🤞
Original re3 I'd rank above re1 original but when you chuck remake in the mix for me it would go: Remake, 2, 3 but that would be close between 2 & 3 for me. 3 has the nostalgia factor and that's pretty powerful (for me anyway)
I can’t tell the different in Framerate either 🤣 I thought I was the only one 😅 I’m surprised as your a fighting game pro thought you would be frame prefect 😅
With the mods on pc I honestly love re3 for how quick speed running can be an the fact that it runs perfect, on console that’s a different story it was good but definitely a downgrade over re2 even for pc but atleast on pc you can touch up re3 an make it look how you want it too and for that I play on occasion for a speed run and then never play it again
@@SSJdavey well, Nemesis is a joke. It is supposed to be the big star (ironically haha), a real threat, but it is not. I saw a video comparing the original Nemesis with the new, from an enemy developing perspective, or something like that. Man, the original one is a masterpiece, it is complex, the developers really thought about it. This one is nothing compared to that.
@Gisela Andrade that's fair, even though both are scripted out the wazoo he felt like a real stalker in the OG especially in Racoon City. Such a shame we breeze through that section so fast
I still can’t believe how much I paid for this game, and literally ran out of stuff to do like 4 days later.
Personally I love a short experience I wasn't put off by that but I can see how it's length/ lack of modes would be a real turn off to many
@@SSJdavey i wouldn't say its length, people generally mean what was in the package.
@@SSJdavey
Similar to what Lost Remote said, I think it is inaccurate to say that the RE3 Remake’s problem was simply being “short”, since a lot of the pre-RE4 games were also short.
I would love to see a remake of the Resident Evil Outbreak games. Seeing those characters and levels updated would be awesome.
The dream 🙌
@@SSJdavey Hopefully it'll be a reality one day.
I used to play Outbreak and Outbreak 2 online, it was so much fun. We seriously need an RE game with online multiplayer option, not all of us like scary single player games and it's calming to have friends with you
They just need to bring outbreak back, that's the dream for me!
*I think my favorite aspects of the RE3 Remake were its…*
1.) Portrayal of Carlos
2.) Improved Hunter Betas
3.) Spencer Memorial Hospital segment
4.) Dodge mechanic that actually works
5.) Reintroduction of the Lickers (though, I would have preferred more than a couple of glorified cameos)
6.) Pale Heads becoming canonical enemies
7.) Various soundtracks that were new/reimagined
8.) Few expanded subplots like with Dr. Bard
9.) Added connective tissue with RE2 Remake, such as the Marvin and Kendo scenes.
*From a standpoint of story and characters, the main things I missed from the original were its…*
1.) Opening battle scene
2.) More detailed epilogue of Raccoon City’s destruction
3.) Subplot about Nikolai killing his fellow monitors
4.) Nemesis’ partially damaged form
5.) Nemesis shooting down the rescue helicopter with his rocket launcher, late in the story at the clocktower
6.) Some alternate scenarios offered by the original: Brad being finished off by Nemesis, Jill exploring the RPD, the optional boss fight with Nikolai in the chopper, and Barry being able to save Jill as an alternate ending.
*I think the story/character elements, where my feelings are more mixed, include these…*
1.) I like both portrayals of Nikolai for different reasons.
*I have also been able to show Baffled Buffon my own rough redesign of Nemesis’ face, but TH-cam seems to not be allowing me to post comment links, so I would need to tell you where to find my original comment with the link.*
5.) Regarding the remade Nemesis’ beast forms, I think it would have been better to save those for the very end.
I'd love to see your redesign if you can tell me where it is?
@@SSJdavey
I just rediscovered where I first left the link.
Oooo more stars members surviving sounds interesting!
I'll try and find it 🤞
I loved the remake, sadly it was just too short
It was, could have done with a bit of busy work, it would have helped the game solve alot of my issues
You realise that all re games are short
Re 2 was very short just felt longer because all the back tracking, still both great games

@@LadyOfTheEditsdifference is that RE3 Remake cut half the content the original game had
The worst thing about this game is the lack of Barry. Og 3 had one of the few appearances from Barry. He flies the helicopter that saves you. You can also let Nicolia escape, those are the 2 biggest mistakes in 3make.
How did I miss dunking on the lack of Barry!!! Barry is my boy and I've failed him 😭

The "vision" for this game was just:
"ok we have this multiplayer game (resistance) being made but people are complaining theres no singleplayer. So lets just slap together a half assed campaign for RE3 and charge 60$ for what basically feels like 30$ experience and cut half the content from the OG release including the famously loved clocktower sequence etc."
Not to mention the outrageously priced collectors edition that didnt even have that much effort put into it.🙄
Was it just a statue of Jill for the collectors edition? I remember RE2s was great
RE3 (2020) is a RE fun game just not a good remake.
Well said 👏
@@SSJdavey thanx
Basically, they made an action game with near zero replayability..
Every time I think about the more action-packed segments that really lended themselves to this new fast-paced, twitch gameplay...
I remember that the majority of my playthrough is going to be spent in cutscenes and heavily scripted events.
Its a damn shame there isn't the opposite to spice up extra playthroughs
Those live selection choices would have been perfect 🙌
@@aft5264 all great points 👌
These were a few ideas I had, for how the live-selection mechanic could have been replicated and used to the remake’s advantage:
*1.) Either leave Brad behind or persuade him to still accompany you, after he is bitten.* If you do the latter, then Nemesis will finish off Brad in the parking garage, rather than him merely succumbing to infection.
Thats great, always happy with a correction - I was certain he always appeared at the same times/ places after key events and would patrol only limited areas from there
@@SSJdaveyOr the game fooled me 😅
But I'm not saying he walks around the city in real time like Mr. X in RE2 Remake though
I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure I researched it when I covered RE3 original (that was a year ago now so my memory is hazy)
Perfectly said 👏
Theres no harm in wanting more either, I get where people come down on 3 remake but it is what it is 🤷
I just got the platinum trophy for this game on ps4. It was pretty easy inconsideration to 2. Now onto either 0 or Code Veronica

I need to get the platinum on re2. Might go for it soon 🤔
@@SSJdavey Yeah I think the game is fun too. I just don't have good enough internet to play online. Or else I would.
Also I used Darkness's Everyman's guide to the game. It helped me so much with my hardcore s+ runs
I mean the things in the powerstation were pretty damn closer to spiders lol I know they weren't but same shit. Fuck that place
Haha they were cool enemies, that section was scary the first time through!
@@SSJdavey Just realize those were actually the Drain Deimos. They weren't that scary in the original infact they made me laugh the way they would waddle. But damn in the remake they terrified me and made me think they were mutated spiders at first.
They were bigger on re3 og but more memorable in remake, great section of the game
He gets the opportunity to stalk you in the original RE3, wish theyd expanded on that here in remake 😭
What was it about village that didn't connect with you? Was it the increase in action from 7?
I really enjoyed reading this and learning the rationale behind your opinion
With the 3rd person mode coming to village in October does that give you an incentive to give it another shot even though the plot/ characters wont be improved?
Completely agree with you
Its hard to call it a 'great game' when it was a carbon copy of RE2 as it was intended to be DLC. So when you take that away you are left with the same exact thing you played the previous year, with less content and a abysmal performance from a developer that should have known better and knew what fans wanted. It was not this.
to me it feels completely different experience in every way outside of basic control/camera from re2.
Content wise its way lower
The problem with this remake was not the graphics but the content of the remake itself unfortunately.
6 is a divisive one, some adore it while I think it hangs around way too long for its own good
Hope you have a great time in them regardless 🙌
@@cherokeefit4248 the factory was a good ripping time yeah.
I hardly ever revisit for speed runs but I couldn't help myself with 3make, just a fun ride!
I can see your point of view, in all fairness we do have a fight with nemesis in his first form on top of the building when he has a flame thrower
I try my best to be fair and get my points across - glad you enjoyed it 👌
It was a bad game and a bad remake.
I love heading everyone's opinions and no-one is right or wrong, it's good to discuss 👌
What was wrong with the dialogue?
If they used the same approach as RE1 remake the game would be incredible. Unfortunately those days are long gone 😭
@@SSJdavey Still a market for it. some tank control games actually still are being made for horror. Or use the amazing hybrid revelations formula.
Yeah I covered tormented souls last year which was essentially old skool resi design.
If you want mass market you can't go back to tank even though it would be the hypest thing ever for me and the old school fans. A dlc chapter with tank controls like re5 did with lost in nightmares would be perfect as a compromise
@@lostremote2400 You didn't have to use the tank controls in the remake, if you didnt want to. A great move by Capcom.
@@SSJdavey They sure are. Great review by the way.
Going back to your RE3 Remake review, I think a wider range of fans could have been satisfied, if the remake replaced/added these locations (and offered these kinds of story choices, which I brainstormed elsewhere in this section)…
*Location Replacements/Additions*
*1.) Have the uptown area be an explorable place Jill can backtrack to, connected to the downtown area by the subway entrances.* To give Nemesis more subtle buildup like in the original, have Jill flee her apartment space after Brad’s warning, then immediately hear the sounds of a large creature smashing into her emptied room and searching it.
The final boss battle is also set in a junkyard behind the factory, made to look like the aftermath of that battle between T-103 Tyrants and U.S. soldiers.
*(POSTED EARLIER) Optional Choices That Had Potential*
*1.) Have Jill decide, whether to leave the wounded Brad behind or encourage him to stay with her.* If the player chooses the latter, then Brad gets finished off by Nemesis, and his zombie self will instead surprise Marvin by sprouting a parasite (rather than “talking”).
Completely agree, it had big shoes to slip on and with a completely new take I can see why its a bitter pill to swallow
I love original re3 and re2 it's a hard choice between the two for me both amazing games 🙌
Stray really is something special, I adored that experience ♥️
@@SSJdavey its the "Resident Evil" that i wanted (i mean set in a city) w

3 things that would have made this a better REMAKE:
Barry
The Mercenaries

In the case of the latter, they did so in the previous REMAKE as a DLC, so it’s a shame they didn’t do it again.
Barry makes everything better 👍

Thats a great price 👍
I enjoyed 3make a lot and I think I prefer it to 2make. I liked the increased number of enemies and ammo in the 3make. And I really liked the Nemesis battles. I didn't like mr x much in the 2make. Mr ex was like a slightly scarier more annoying Mr Peterson from Hello Neighbour. Both were great games but 3 was a slightly better game for me. Fans of the original moan about what has been left out of the 3make but I think the 3make still feels like a resident evil game and does a lot more better (from a gameplay point of view).
I've never played hello neighbour, worth a look?
@@SSJdavey not really. it's different but not a great game.
✌️
Village is great and will be a good intro to re4 when you get to it 👍
Very good video sir. Now, to nit pick:
- OG RE 2 has the best soundtrack
- The rail gun was dumb, the more puzzle-based encounter (charging the batteries) of the original Nemesis battle was a better finale, and felt more believable since the giant gun was obviously too heavy for a person to carry
Og re2 has a great soundtrack, I'd chuck CV and RE1 in the mix as contenders too but re3 just hits different for me (probably nostalgia)
@@SSJdavey Yeah, definitely RE 1
Having her lift the gun and manage to shoot and aim the thing was an incredibly hard part of the action peices to take in. With how overly forceful jill was in the story you get the idea it was created '''''with those type of people in mind''''' but it just came off as incredibly stupid. That thing looked like a tank canon. Wish i could lift tank canons like that when i was in the military hah.
Same with a 19 year old teenager with no training using a minigun with no recoil at all, but RE2 is perfect I guess
@@aletheia2742 Nah that bit is dumb as well.
We need a remake of the remake. This game imo didn't do justice to the franchise as a whole.
Resident evil 3 remake 2, it doesn't roll of the tongue but I'd buy it 🤣

there would be a very lengthy list of things the game would need if they would. I dont think they should at this time, just use the funds to make other games and projects.
I think I'm in the minority here, but of course I got the game for $30. For that price its a perfect fast paced playthrough that contrasts the RE2 remake which requires more careful planning.
I paid full price and I really enjoyed it too, we may be in the minority but there's a few of us out there who like it for what it is 😅
As much u agree with your review and like RE3 I would still love a nemesis edition or director cut just so that it can reach its full potential imagine what a few more areas clock tower park maybe factory or some of the cut content such as cinema library shops imagine how much more raccoon city would feel tragic heart felt and lived in the very location deserves to be thoroughly looked through but just adding some more areas like the park or clock tower would be enough the town is akin to silent hill it deserves to be explored and not to mention nemesis needs more moves weapons and chases in gameplay there no reason why we can’t get one if we raise our voices together capcom will deliver do petitions make videos and use the hashtags #RE3NemesisEditon#RE3Director Cut
I can't see it happening, God I'd love for it to exist but I think it was a one and done approach with re3 unfortunately 😕
I'll still join you though!

@@SSJdavey thanks for comment I love your channel loved seeing all the re reviews series thanks for joining it anyway I would love one just so it can meet it’s full potential but thanks for the response love your channel keep making vids ❤️ hope re3 anyway 🤞😂
Glad you've been enjoying them, can't wait till October to put a few more out for REVerse and Rose's content 👍
@@SSJdavey oh yer rose dlc looks fun can’t wait
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Yes the game is not great, but I'm pretty sure I had 2x more fun playing it than re2 remake. I think re2 remake felt very dry with the grey visuals and insane lack of music
Its definitely a game I'd replay just to have a bit of fun whereas re2 i feel I have to commit to it, to really concentrate (on hardcore anyway)
I'm not into mercenaries tbh, I played it back on re3 original on ps1 but only put my toe back in a handful of times across the series
No, Bad Game and Bad Remake.
How is Gotham knights? I'm morbidly curious about it
@@SSJdavey I haven't played it yet. I ordered something for my computer to help with my new processor that came in already, but the other part hasn't come in yet so I haven't played Gotham Knights yet. From what I've seen, it looks great.
They should remake this remake
Isn't going to happen I'm afraid
@@SSJdavey Maybe would happen in 10 years
You know, i was just thinking, what is going to do Capcom after the Re 4 remake, make remakes of 5 and 6, make a remake of the remake of the first Re?
I really, really hope they don't remake 1. Remake was perfect for me
CV or outbreak next surely!?
I just beat this game. It was amazing I enjoyed.
Mine crashes every 10 mins I can’t even play it
Weird! Is that on ps5?
Hey I was wondering if this game is good if I have never played the original re3. Was thinking of getting it, or should I just play the og
I think it all depends on what kind of experience you want as they are very different. Re3 remake is an action game wheras the original is survival horror (but with a more action packed flair compared to 1&2)
@@SSJdavey gotcha thanks
Not sure how I wanna put this but… as it own stand alone game outside of RE, I’ll say the remake is a meh experience. Looking at it as a resident evil game, it’s a horrible remake. I don’t know what the B- team had going on as far as deadlines and stuff but it seems really rushed and a graphically downgrade compared to the RE2 remake.
From what I’ve heard I have somewhat high hopes for the RE4 remake b/c the A- team is helping develop it so, it has that going for itself. Apparently the team who worked on the RE3 remake was fired 🤷♂️
Yeah from what I heard the B team were put on re4 and then binned off (probably following the reception to 3make)
Nemesis was not nemesis.
Hes overly confident and that causes his demise (or thats how I see it)
@@SSJdavey He was perfect in the original, but he sucked in the remake.
Dont care i love re3!!
I beat it in 1:24:29
Re3 remake sucked so bad
You're not alone on that opinion, I think that's the majority view tbh
Holds up amazingly
OG re3 is my favorite game of all time and i love the remake as a game but as a remake i hate it
Bro I'm fine with this game cuz I got it for 10 bucks and nemesis is badass
Bargain!
I’ll take RE3 remake over Village any day. Village is just too campy and not scary at all. RE2 and RE7 are still the scariest in the series for me and that’s what I’m in it for mainly… the spookiness!
House benievento in 8 was pure terror but outside of that I agree its not really scary
2 and 7 are great choices 👌
They really need a resident evil that is completely open world. You have to find your way out of the city, and multiple options on how to handle any mission or encounter. Add expansion dlcs to the outskirts of the city, nothing would beat a massive gta style city with zombies, being hunted by nemesis, dodging lickers all the while trying to complete the goals needed to get out of the city.
I'm not sure on this tbh, i guess it worked in The Evil Within 2 so it's doable 🤔
Compare to 2 this is just pure trash
Its a step down that's for sure
I just wanna know should I get the game?
It depends, I would say yes but in the review I cover it from all sides so you can make your own decision
what an accurate review of re3 remake
Cheers Sean I'm glad you enjoyed it 🍻
@@SSJdavey RE3 Remake left a bad taste in my mouth for so long especially since the original was my all time fave as a teen. I was so bummed to see it didnt get the love re2 remake got, but analogy of it being more of a summer blockbuster type helped put in perspective for me - so thank you
It as a game isn’t good at all
Not even a great game. Its average. Y'all hype games way too much.
I enjoyed my time with it 🤷♂️
"bad" is a huge understatement, let's say this remake is garbage
The games is missing so much and no dlc for game that was full price
Worst is many casual and gen Z gamers who haven't played the og, contribute to this sales, that's why capcom feel "safe" by releasing 2 and 3 remake and they again butchered the 4
The jury is out on 4, we'll have to wait and see
I honestly don't think capcom can win with it though, it's so loved by so many people it's going to be tough for them. Personally I don't hold 4 in the same regard as most so I'm fairly confident I'll enjoy it 🤞
the original by itself is a great game but id just call it "good" when u compare it to 1 and 2
Original re3 I'd rank above re1 original but when you chuck remake in the mix for me it would go:
Remake, 2, 3 but that would be close between 2 & 3 for me. 3 has the nostalgia factor and that's pretty powerful (for me anyway)
@@SSJdavey yeah 3 is better than the og 1 but 1 was so innovative when it came out so i put it first, but yeah i agree lol
They should have released a director's cut
That Rumour has been going for ages I highly doubt they would but I'd love it
I can’t tell the different in Framerate either 🤣 I thought I was the only one 😅
I’m surprised as your a fighting game pro thought you would be frame prefect 😅
Absolutely not 😆
Spence can tell and he'll turn to me and say "surely you can see that" and I'm sitting there like 😬
@@SSJdavey I think it’s because we are old 🤣
😭
With the mods on pc I honestly love re3 for how quick speed running can be an the fact that it runs perfect, on console that’s a different story it was good but definitely a downgrade over re2 even for pc but atleast on pc you can touch up re3 an make it look how you want it too and for that I play on occasion for a speed run and then never play it again
The mods make me wish I played my PC more, I'm such a ludite with PC's I tend to stay clear of mods 😅
@@SSJdavey it’s actually really simple, for re3 and 2 anyways I don’t really mess around with other games
Jesus loves you everybody. There's always a reason to keep going
100%
no matter how dark it gets there are people that care about you, you aren't alone x
I liie Resident evil 3 more than 2.
Re1 remake is still king of remakes
Couldn't agree more 👌
I liked 2 and 3 it's all good.
Same here 👌
This game kicks ass.
Whatever comes from europe is 100x the quality
I should have put his voice as German, they are the best for quality, the French.... not so much 🤣

Positive thoughts on RE3 RE? Take your dislike. 0/10
Great game? Great? Man, there are so many insane people in this world. It is not even a good game.
What didn't vibe with you?
@@SSJdavey well, Nemesis is a joke. It is supposed to be the big star (ironically haha), a real threat, but it is not. I saw a video comparing the original Nemesis with the new, from an enemy developing perspective, or something like that. Man, the original one is a masterpiece, it is complex, the developers really thought about it. This one is nothing compared to that.
@@SSJdavey as far as I remember, is this video right here:

@Gisela Andrade that's fair, even though both are scripted out the wazoo he felt like a real stalker in the OG especially in Racoon City. Such a shame we breeze through that section so fast
