For me, it was the removal of the tilt view/head option that made this game absolutely unplayable. It was so natural feeling in Umbrella Chronicles that to remove it from Darkside Chronicles made me feel like my character was wearing a neck brace.
Most people I know who played this game on PS3 hate it, but the Wii players seem to like it (Myself included). I wonder if the IR point mitigates some of the bad motion design of this game? Great review btw!
it's probably just the difference between people who are Wii gamers and people who are PlayStation gamers. the PlayStation gamers are more critical well the Wii gamers are more forgiving of flawed game design
Could be something in that, the Wii had some absolute bangers but also a lot of shite, if that was their only console at the time it must have been a hard life
I think this game is absolutely worth getting through the sickening camera. There's just so much here to enjoy that you just have to man up, get yourself a bucket, and just go for it.
Excellent video.I feel very similar to your thoughts, I really wanna complete this game but the added motion shake is sickening and i can't bring myself to do it. Also, maybe it's just me but i feel the backgrounds items feel less detailed than the actual backgrounds, i feel there was more cohesion in the previous title. The other thing i didn't enjoy as much as UC was the gunshot sounds, to me they sound way flatter than in UC and didn't have that "kick" that makes getting a headshot so satisfying.
I agree with you, UC feels like it knows what it is more than darkside. normally I'd offer some words of encouragement to try and help you through the game but with the motion sickness there really isn't much I can do, it's pretty damn bad especially towards the end of the game 🤷♂️
Oh god i thought you were gonna show Vegeta monologue and after Krauser's, just before it finished i noticed it was Krauser's voice all along how did that happen-
I'm kind of torn if I'm honest, my heart would say Jill valentine needs to return, pick up with her after the events of re5 maybe her dealing with the trauma of her experience following weskers control. Could have some psychological themes as well as traditional RE enemies/locations. But my head tells me 9 is going to conclude the ethan Winters story, pick up with his daughter and Chris to round out their story. I'd be happy with either as long as they limit my resources and make choice consequential
Your review and my opinion are one example of how two fans can share almost all of the identical praises/complaints about something, yet still have vastly different overall views on a product... I think I played this game before Umbrella Chronicles, and when I returned to DC after playing UC, I too noticed the much shakier camera and criticized that. However, the shaky cam did not become a notable annoyance for me personally, until after I sought to score high numbers of critical hits on higher difficulties. Otherwise, I had no issue playing the game, so it was just a nitpick at worst for my experience. Maybe it was the fact that I played DC before UC and got used to the unstable camera earlier on. Maybe the Wii version I played functioned slightly different from the PS3 port you played years later. Maybe the TV arrangement I had was less disorienting. Or maybe certain things inherently affect me more/less than it does others. I do not know. On the other hand, I see that the shaky cam was much bigger problem throughout for you. So understandably, that same problem seriously botched your whole experience. We both agree that the shaky cam was needlessly problematic, while also agreeing on so many of the positives this game has over Umbrella Chronicles. But because of how little/much that one problem affected the overall experience, I ended up loving Darkside Chronicles as my favorite RE spinoff, whereas you walked away from it feeling disappointed. I can see why, so that is another reason I wish DC’s camera still functioned more like UC’s, even if I still had tons of fun in spite of it.
This came out in 2009 and had much better graphics than the Umbrella Chronicles of 2007 on the the original Wii. Yes, watch the herky jerky motion at 10:30 to decide if you want to go through that. I don’t know if the South American scenes are original or from Code Veronica as it’s the only RE game I haven’t played, but it did impress upon me that this is a world wide virus. And one of the criticisms of RE5 is that it takes place in daylight, but this does as well and has huts just above water similar to sections in RE5. The fish were tough to hit as they rocket propelled out of the water and small. As my introductions to the RE universe, I didn’t feel like I learned much about it from them. Yes, Umbrella is evil, I got that. It felt more like for those that already know the RE universe and this filled in details.
I like that they gave Brian Irons more in this game, because he was just an asshole in RE2 Remake. They took all his evil and put it into one file, making a player who didn’t know all about him (I never got to play RE2 original all the way through until after I played the remake) not understand he was evil. Here it not only made him creepy, but a boss battle, which I liked, since I think it makes the character seem like he’s an actual character. Also, and I don’t know why, he was pretty handsome for a evil bastard. Like I think he should be called Daddy Irons, which I agree, most of the characters here are really attractive. I also like Red-Brown haired Claire, because I feel it makes her stand out and not look like every other blue eyed RE character (I’m tired of the same basically qualities most RE characters have, as in blue eyes, pale skin, and usually brown or blonde hair). I think it’s a good game with some flaws.
@@SSJdavey I don't like that she kills her brother. There was always that uncomfortable closeness the two had in the orginal even when she caringly cradled his corpse it sold the creepy twin vibe.
@@SSJdavey That, and Leon and Claire are so damn likeable - with arguably their best actors wrapped up in one game. RE2 and CV are my 2 favorite games too so probably that, even the slight re-do’s of classic OST tracks. Escape from the Lab and the Alexia boss battle themes’ covers are standouts. A shame we never got to see a RE3 campaign done to this extent in UC.
If you don't like on rails stuff you probably won't like them, could always give them a go though. They are cheap enough to pick up 2nd hand if you have a wii knocking about
They could have re-used all the assets in this game for like a Mercenaries 3D 2 and I would be so happy. All I've ever wanted is like RE3 mercs remade and they fucking skipped that in the remake and It pissed me off something fierce.
I love the plot in this but the gameplay is TRASH. Speciale when you get locked between a checkpoint and one of those "what the fuck am I supposed to do" bosses. Like i get it i have to shoot something but stop smacking me in the face BIRKIN
I wish the older games of 2 and 3 were remade with these character designs, hate the remake designs of 2,3, 4 is ok but not as good as the orignal, and if the remakes came in ps3 era with these visuals we could gotten something on level of re 1 remake instead of good but not as good as orignal re 2, and 4 remake and the god awful piece of trash re 3 remake
A full remake of Biohazard 2 or 3 should have been made instead. No one plays Biohazard for the story. Also here's an unpopular opinion. Steve sounded and acted generic in Darkside. His original counterpart was fine.
I find it hilarious how UC and DC are better retelling of RE1/2/3/CV than the RE2/3R. I hate how much more fame, and success and mainstream RE2/3R got over RE1R. RE1R is literally the video game standard for remakes, not the Resident Evil standard, no, the entirety of video game remakes should strive to be RE1R. But because of “muh grafiks bruh” RE2/3R have become so popular with people who don’t give a fuck about RE, people who maybe play RE once a year or so, and now Capcom’s gonna give every remake from now on the RE2/3R treatment and not the RE1R treatment. This is why I have no faith in RE4 remake or any other Resident Evil remake, and I wish they just give up on retconning the entire series. The RE2/3R are literal trash when compared to the originals they’re ripping off, unless you’re one of those that equals a better engine, amazing graphics, and your desired control scheme as a better game despise all the bad things. These remakes are in my opinion, mainly for those people just getting into the franchise, and for those who aren’t fans but will just buy the games and give them a try because “muh grafiks.” Resident Evil has long been mainstream, but now it’s fucking gone mainstream. Just like cod, it’s been ignoring the original, hardcore fan base since what, RE5? And now they give us games like RE7/2R/3R that are just enough, just enough to get the og fans to salivate, when deep down these games are as mainstream as they could be. At least RE5/6 were unapologetically Resident Evil, RE2/3R feel like they’re just ripoffs of much better games, as if RE’s best friend showed up to class without the homework and RE was like “here fam just change it up a bit…” and RE7/8??? Can’t see why people give them so much praise. RE7 has literally no connection to the franchise, like all the connections seem like they were just thrown out there in the very end. You can literally remove all RE references from RE7 and could start a brand new franchise off of it :| and that shitty cheap tie-in at the end of RE8???? Like bro. You’re telling me for over 25 years of games, and how many decades of in-universe lore and yet we’ve never heard of Miranda or whether? Or the mold…? Kiss my ass fam. And on top of that it’s Ethan that discovers all this??? Someone so unimportant, even though they make him seem like the next Wesker, but like he literally ends up just dying and okay??? So much for him I guess. Mia and such?? God damn. And then on top of that Chris’s sudden change in character… guys, for all you guys that suck the cock of RE7/8, this ain’t storytelling done right bro… it just isn’t. Sure the older games had their mistakes, plot holes, dumb crap, and convoluted storyline, but these new games??? These are just shit stories, they literally, to me, feel like high school RE fanfic…
Unfortunately I had no choice but to reupload this video as YT decided to put a global block on it a week after it went live 🙃

I'm not sure why that is, the move controller does the same job as the wiimote so I don't know what difference it would have 🤔

My only problems were with Alexia's changes.

In the original they had mega incest vibes, they definitely banged and that was scary 😨
I just got some Tic Tac's today, Coca-Cola flavored ones that are Limited Edition...🤘🏼😋💯✔️
