It might be worth getting a second opinion on this one; I used to live in Japan and the "Panasonic nanoe" technology is EXTREMELLY popular. Not saying that means they are great (ive never had one), but it means they have probably been under scrutiny. Also the government rules in Japan for anything like this "can" be very tough. Again not saying your wrong, but a second opinion may be worthwhile
its often built into their heat pumps, i have a couple. i have to turn the nanoe off because it makes my throat sore. it reacts with human tissue and your breathing it in.
I just want to say that as a commercial HVAC guy I have worked on a lot of medical, institutional and industrial buildings which all have their specific ventilation/IAQ requirements and I have never seen any “air cleaning” device on any of the systems serving any of those buildings. It’s common for marketers to talk about these things like they are everywhere in commercial buildings but that is not the case. I can also say with a fair degree of confidence that they would never be designed in as a substitute for conditioned outdoor air ventilation. The standard for high occupancy/high contamination structures is conditioned outdoor air and filtration. Any engineer that spec’d something instead of that to control air quality would wind up getting sued. These might be specified as an additional measure sometimes but I’ve never seen it and it is definitely not the standard approach for commercial buildings on the us.
Admittedly, there is a “problem” that these types of products seem to solve and that is “how do you improve air quality in existing buildings that weren’t built with health in mind?” A blown up filter housing for a merv 13 plus could cost $1200 or more to retrofit, an erv with no specialized controls could cost $2000. Many houses don’t have effective ways of removing kitchen fumes and there’s a lot of moisture-based issues that you Can’t fix without improving your structure. These types of products give contractors an opportunity to capitalize on post covid iaq anxiety without having to do the legwork of actually solving problems. For a in and out hvac company that’s trying to get bought out by a national chain that’s an attractive option.
@@paulgaras2606 agreed. I was pointing out the problem that companies will do anything for a buck, including selling harmful products. Consumers have no protection from this if the product falls outside of a regulated category. These will be for sale at big box stores and people duped by the marketing will buy them.
Thanks for linking videos on screen. Can you also put them in the description below. For me, and likely some others, if I don't click on the link in the video the first time I watch it it goes away when I rewind to find it. Very odd behavior. I want to watch the link but not until after I've gotten through my current video.
THANK YOU for an unambiguous and well-explained message without shilling to the corps. I have mad respect for Panasonic, based on their track-record thus far, but if they keep pulling sh*t like this, that will likely evaporate rapidly.
So glad you made this video. I was skeptically excited when I saw this released. Was even considering buying it. But now that I have the truth I will save my money. Thank you.
I have a similar product and regret purchasing it. After CIRS bankrupted me and how it's nearly impossible to find a decent place to live, I felt I had no choice.
Hey Sir, interesting stuff. I have Panasonic Nanoe X air conditioning at home. I only use the cooling in the summer. I've never used the Nanoe X particle spreader. Is the Nanoe X the same as what your are talking about? Should I be worried to use the air cooling alone? Can't find much info about it, almost all video's on Nanoe X are from Panasonic them selfs. If you read this, can u give me a little advice?
This isn't a review. This is a video about skepticism. I'm not complaining, but the counter claims are just as credible as the original claims. Can we have an actual review on this?
If you’re subscribed to our channel, there’s a lot of research chemistry being revealed on Mondays. The rntire principle of this device does not make a space ‘healthy’- it’s chemistry.
Just google Hydroxl radicals by itself. I wouldn't stand around and inhale them. These units, used by themselves in an unoccupied room would prove to be useful for their intended purpose and not harmful to people if the room is occupied after the unit has been turned off for 15 minutes.
Yeah I saw that on Risinger’s channel and it looked like a disaster. They could have just stuck a filter in there 😂! I literally thought it was point source ERV until they described it.
Thank you so much, I was about to buy this, but not anymore. I am so glad I saw your Video, before i bought it. Thank you for explaining it so detailed.
Can you talk to us about what is a good VOC number to shoot for as an average in the home with a VOC monitor? What is a truly accurate way to test VOC’s?
Ideally, we target under 250 ppb (or 1000 µg/m3) of Total VOCs. This is not a very hard thing to measure these days, my $200 Airthings does it, as does the Broan Overture system and many others.
Panasonic taking advantage of the Covid hysteria. What is your opinion on hepa air purifiers that use a combination of activated carbon and xeolite? Xeolite is used in oxygen concentrators to separate all chemicals from O2. Austin Air and IQ air are two that I am aware of that combine HEPA with this to remove particulate, odors, VOCs, etc
I believe I'd count carbon and xeolite as passive air cleaning- they're not jumping into the air to add more complexity to the chemistry. I think Rich Corsi lumped Xeolite in with Perlite as something that might prove useful as an ozone reservoir. HEPA obviously is great.
Thank you- and I don’t have personal experience with any, but IQAir is solid but expensive, otherwise Medify Air units look promising (without the UV light, don’t use that part).
Sir, I do like a lot of your content, but on this one, I do believe this time you are wrong and are premature in making a video without doing your due diligence. A hydroxyl generator IS approved for use in occupied areas; on the other hand, an ozone generator IS NOT approved for use in occupied spaces. Both of these types of generators are what we regularly use in fire damage restoration and some water damage restoration jobs. Yes, I am IICRC trained and certified in multiple areas, so I do have a bit more knowledge and experience about this subject than most who are not. Regardless, ever since hearing a Panasonic rep explaining more about this device, I have been intrigued. I want to do a deeper dive into every aspect of it because it does have the potential to be a fantastic product. So I also have my own due diligence work ahead. You do have to remember when reading these marketing materials, they were written in layman's terms in an attempt to describe something that is somewhat of a complex subject. Whoever wrote this marketing paper could have done a better job of explaining and teaching the reader. So I invite you to do what I do and become a student with anything novel and really educate yourself, so you don't find yourself 'eating crow' later.
Thank you Micah, and as stated, I am more student than educator, but our chemistry researcher colleagues have made it very clear that all chemistry is experimental wrt products like this. OH is actually a byproduct of ozone, and chemists regard it as even more unpredictable because it does not only react with carbon double bonded compounds. And your IICRC approaches are for unoccupied homes, not for daily occupied use.
@Home Performance , I appreciate your thoughts on the subject. So how do you reconcile all of the hydroxyl generators that are sold, and in use in schools, hospitals, office buildings, daycares, nursing homes, and more? These are specifically emplemented in occupied spaces. As you're well aware, hospitals have stringent guidelines for what they allow into their buildings. The FDA and Health Canada has approved the use of hydroxyl for occupied spaces. Then there's also the fact that these are naturally occurring in the environment and have been known about for nearly 100 years, but it wasn't until the 1960's that they discovered how to reproduce them.
Please understand the tone of my replies as being not argumentative for the sake of arguing. These are the thoughts and questions I am also asking myself and would like to have a deeper understanding of too. I also know that just because any government agency approves something doesn't make it fact. At one time, we thought that some illnesses were caused by a person having 'too much blood' in their system, and therefore some must be removed through 'bloodletting.'
