BMW 5 series 2015 | Water Leak |

💧 Here we have a BMW 5 Series in for a water leak procedure, and we have uncovered a common fault which is down to wear and tear on a blanking plate on the bulkhead through corrosion which is allowing water to come down the passenger front foot well and make its way to the rear. We can replace the blacking plate and seal it, but it's most important to dry the car as there are electrical units under the front seats which will become damaged if allowed to sit in water.

⚡ Electricity and water is a dangerous combination. This is especially the case with electric and hybrid cars, but most modern cars have electronic control units in areas which are prone to water ingress. These are easily damaged and can be expensive to replace.
💥 Areas that need to be accessed to fix water leaks may contain air bags. These are explosive and can be quite sensitive. Tampering with them could lead to serious injury.
☣️ Cars that have been damp for a prolonged period often contain mould, mildew and dangerous bacteria. Mould spores can seriously affect the health of people with asthma, the old, very young, and people with compromised immune systems. Mould should always be taken seriously.

Thanks for adding these diagnostic videos. Really helpful as I strongly suspect this is the issue with my leaking 2015 2-series (deep puddles in rear nearside footwell - think it must be coming from a large surface area like windscreen). BMW failed to diagnose but suggested membrane in door (can't think this would carry that amount of water). Would have popped over to you but I'm in a different part of the country. A really good bit of evidence to take back to BMW though...thanks again!

I've got a leak that I believe it's that .how bmw thought this was a good idea instead of welding it I don't know .now I got to figure out how to get the carpet out

The wires are in sleeving so no problem there, there aren’t and ecu’s there but there’s on one ecu on the car,

hey guys. how did you remove the vapour barrier so that you can access grommet from inside the car? my barrier seems to be one peice along the entire length of the cars bulkhead.

I had this problem on my f 30, the problem was on driver door speaker, there was space where speaker attached door frame, i just put silicone and it stopped leaking.

@@reecejaques2488 It isn't. Manufacturers very rarely issue a recall unless the fault is dangerous, and likely to get them sued.

Replace the blanking plate, get the seats out and the carpet up and then dry the car out.

@@dzestinak If you have fixed that leak, then you must have another leak. Try looking at our other videos on BMW leaks. It could caused by several different things.

We didn't fix this, it was sent to the dealership for them to repair.
