this description is exactly what I was looking for excellent information and well presented usually everybody tests something new ..... but what about a year later thank you
I have the same model. It works well, but I did have a problem with the programming. There is a procedure for resetting it, but I found the answer is to always switch it off at the mains when it is not being used. The plates seem to last around 2 years and are readily available. The last ones I got seem to have an improved coating especially on the reverse sides. Drip tray is huge, and unlike other grills I had it collects everything.
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and solution to your problem. I did not have it. As for the plates: there are a few scratches, but they are still good to use + you're right, it's possible to purchase new parts :)
@@tse_reviews The plates are now available from many suppliers, but their mark-up is high. Tefal now ships spares from France so shipping is more. Still the cheapest option as plates are currently cheaper if ordered in UK than 2 years ago.
When I first bought the grill it lasted about a year. After that it went bananas and stopped reacting to button presses. I only used grill like 30 times in total. I got a new one and I haven't used it much but it doesn't seem to grill chicken very well. For some reason mine turns into rubber even if they are defrosted before grilling. Besides that I lack the possibility to set a desired result so it alerts when that happens. Else it just plays that tune when it's cooked to well done. For me the result when grilling meat could be a little bit more grilled on the surface, but I guess that's how it is when using electric grills. It's a good product overall.
Thank you for sharing! I never grilled chicken there (I think), so I cannot say anything about it. Of course it's not as doing real grill outside 🙈 I'm also using an additional device to see the temperature inside the meat (e.g. steak) to make it closer to the result I want.
Hi, thanks for watching!) Do you mean if you want to make a toast? In general, it might be up to you,, but it's always recommended to pre-heat any machine before cooking i think😉
Are you sure that accessories for Elite version do not fit to yours? I'm asking because I would like to make vaffels too. You can buy this grill second hand, not the Elite though. Thank you for your presentation!
Hi, thanks a lot for watching, I'm glad I could explain it. When I go to tefal website, they supply you with the links to attachments for a selected grill (btw that is super convenient ) and the attachments for waffles is not for my model. In addition, I also once found a visual comparison from Tefal and the info was same ... :( If anybody had experience, I'd be interested to hear.
This is a great device! I got a similar one (or maybe the same, don't remember the model) for my birthday but my boyfriend borrowed it from me a few years ago and doesn't want to give it back.
I have my one for few years, the plates are in good condition but after few months the sensor stopped working and now we using it as a old fashion grill🤷♂️
Great to hear about your experience! Try to use external device to measure the temperature inside the meat you grill. It should help you to use the grill more often.
I read somewhere that if you wet the sensor pins from the cooking plates to the lid and base contact points holes. It will. make better contact and the temp setting will began working again. Give ìt a try...Good Luck !! Also you can recalibrate the button settings. There's a U-Tube vidio. " Fix My T-Fal Grill" That explains how to do it. In the comments. It worked on mine.
We got the elite version but after a couple of years the non stick coating starting peeling off in large pieces. We never used anything abrasive on it, only dishwasher.
Hi, I did sandwiches (toasts). I believe they are thinner than the wraps, but it should work (of course if the wraps are not huge). At least you can do one wrap at a time by putting it horizontally, close to the end of the grill (part that is closer to you).
The max temperature on this kind of device (including this one) is way too low. It fits perfectly only the foods that are to be prepared around 130-150 deg Celsius. The meat mostly boils and steams rather that have any Maillard reaction, rendering the steak rather tasteless. The explanation is simple, due to the PTFE coating of the aluminium, the max teoretical achievable temperature ise below 200 deg Celsius, otherwise, the coating will start coming of.
That's not true, PTFE coatings are good up to 260ºc. Otherwise, these grills or air fryers or any other appliance with non stick coating would not allow 200-230ºc on their settings. I have a grill from another brand which on the first uses was boiling the meat even though I was using it on max temperature, even thought about returning it but gave one more chance and now it's grilling perfectly even the grill marks turn black if you're not careful. Maybe your grill is defective.
Indeed, mine rather boils than grills. I tested 3 identical items, same results. The only "grilled" result I got is from bread slices with high sugar content. Anyway, it was my wife's wish to have one so I had no choice. As for me, I am happiest with my carbon steel pans.

Cool video =) Best regards from Germany, Benni the OptiGriller
Hey, thanks a lot, Benni!)
Benni, is it possible to buy this OptiGrill made in Germany and not in China?
I put kitchen/paper towel in the drip tray. It makes clean up easier.
Thank you for the tip!
hello your video is very self explanatory. Can you please tell me if the slices of bread needs needs preheating? Thanks.

Ahaha meaning it is good 😉 and you literally lost it )))
Does all the plates come off? Top aswell so they can be cleaned

Have you tried the reset procedures? They are available online if you search. Problem is sometimes the sensor for thickness.
@michaeltb1358 yes I did , it's gona work 2-3 times and then won't work again, I've reset the sensor few times but but not much luck with my one

No warranty? I got 2 years warranty with mine so I'll just get a new one even if it goes slightly wrong. Easy 🙂
Thanks for helping me make a decision to buy this :-)
Great to hear that it brought some value!) It would be extremely interesting to know about your experience later :)
I wonder, does it cause smoke? I am lokkng for a grill which is smokeless
Hm I wouldn't say that it does, at least I didn't notice that
No smoke, maybe some steam/vapour
You explained very good ..Thanks
Glad it was helpful!

Best bacon cooker in the world...saving the bacon grease is so convenient!

change it, it not expensive
Got new plates for mine off of tefal think they are about £12 each
Hey can we grill pita chicken wraps in this one?

I can confirm this, these grills temperature is too low. Induction stove and good stainless steel pan all the way. Would not buy the grill again
Thank you
You are welcome!) Thanks for watching!)
