No one prevents people from voting. Asking for a voting ID does not prevent people from voting. So tired of this claim.
Then how will you stop cheating.
I don’t understand why this is such an issue for some people. Why shouldn’t we show our id? We have to show it to do so many things. What is everyone afraid of? My mother never learned to drive, yet still had a state id. It’s not that hard to do!
The people they are talking about are the illegals they want here.
It’s the soft racism of Democrats to imply that minority voters don’t have ID. They also want anyone to vote so that they benefit from the 12 million voters they have imported for that purpose.

As a german I agree. Than again having hour long queues in front of voting stations, fighting voting by mail, closing voting stations in left leaning areas and holding elections on a weekday kinda gives me impression that republicans are trying to suppress unwanted votes. It is not a huge jump to assume that voter ID has little to do with fighting (unproven) voter fraught and more with preventing people from voting.

I have several black friends who I've asked what was racist about voter I D. All of them have told me that it's offensive to think that blacks are too stupid to get an ID!

So the actual issue is that if you look at voting patterns historically what you find is that ANY obstacle to voting, even something as minor as needing your ID will prevent measurable numbers of people from voting. Particularly poor people who don't have vehicles and the disabled.
So while republicans might well be correct that we need to start mandating ID's for voting pretending like they don't know this or that it won't have this effect is completely bad faith.
As a Dutch citizen I really do not understand why it is such a problem to show your ID when voting, we vote with ID as long as I can remember.
No one got a problem with it, it is just to make sure you are who you say you are.

Let’s look at the truth about the push for voter IDs. First off, you don’t just walk into any polling place on Election Day, give them a name, and they hand you a ballot. You have to REGISTER to vote. You have to provide an address, and your state confirms your identity at that time through property and tax records. You are then put on the voting rolls at a specific polling place in a specific precinct. (This is why claims of stuffing the voting box with false ballots or thousands of dead people voting are nonsense. If 2000 people are registered in a precinct and 3000 votes are cast, don’t you think someone might catch on?) Then, a week or so before the election, you are sent a card with your name, etc, on it, which you present to the poll workers at your designated polling place when you go to vote.
So really the only reason for a Voter ID is to prevent someone from getting hold of the voting card that is sent to your address and impersonating you to vote. The penalty for this if they're caught, is 7 years in prison. How many people do you think would be willing to take that gamble to illegally cast one vote?
So why are so many Republicans making a big deal about voter IDs? Because if done properly, it’s a great way to keep poor people from voting. Voter IDs are not free. In Georgia, an ID cost $33. In Alabama, $35. And you can only get them at a couple of locations (usually located in county seats as far away from inner city voters as possible), and only on one or two days a week, during normal work hours. And as one woman said, she had to go 3 times, and wait over an hour each time, only to be denied an ID the first 2 times because she didn’t bring proper proof of her identity (even though she brought what they asked her to the second time). Others are turned away because of a Catch-22: to get a photo-ID, you have to HAVE some sort of govt-issued photo-ID ( birth certificates and social security cards are not accepted). Some folks who don't own cars had to go through the time and expense of getting a driver's license first.
So tell me: if voting is a citizen’s right, why don’t all states make Voter IDs free and easy to obtain?

In Sweden, where I live, NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON would be allowed to vote without showing his/her ID. No chance. How is that in any way controversial? It would surprise me if that didn't go for the rest of Europe, as well. How on earth are you otherwise supposed to have secure elections? You need an ID in order to vote, the end. I live in Seattle. Our governor passed a law making it legal for shelters to hide minors from their parents in cases where the parents don't immediately transition their child. Mind you, these are socially liberal parents.

UK, Denmark Sweden Norway France Finland Switzerland all ceased gender affirming care for minors based on evidence that it does more harm than good. These countries were seeing increases as high as 8,700% in minors presenting w gender dysphoria in a very short time frame.

Back to the shelter law in WA. Contrary to what ppl may think, youth shelters are not safe places. Sex traffickers easily persuade some of these poor kids to trust them and their lives are ruined forever.
This happened to a 14 yr old girl who's on the spectrum who ran away from home bc her parents wanted to seek counseling as opposed to moving directly to hormone treatment.
There is currently a lawsuit on the part of 8 families who's children were legally hidden by Inslee's ignorant and egregiously harmful law.

Reality is that the US is setup to survive nearly any president. Check, balances, different branches of government, state powers, etc. even a bad president can't do much. However, the US can't survive when its own institutions are weaponized, when they join with the media to stay elected, etc., etc. That erodes faith in the system, puts elections in doubt, and makes people distrustful of institutions even when they are working or needed.

Easy, don't even have to be a citizen in CA to vote. Don't need to be a citizen to get a driver's license in CA. When you get your driver's license, the DMV automatically registers you to vote.

Trump has been persecuted since he first came on the political scene, even if it ends up that he's guilty of some of the things he's accused of. For example, some were stating he was another Hitler back in 2016. Clearly, that was false, but they made those claims just as they are making further alarmist claims now. That's why people don't listen anymore, including a growing segment of black and brown voters. So, playing these language games claiming that what happened on January 6th was an actual "insurrection" is just one further nail in the coffin for genuine democracy. The country will not survive much more of these manipulations, which always favor insider establishment power. People are starting to see the whole political system as a sham, and that's why it is getting closer to collapse by the heavy weight of corruption.
