i get close to 40 mpg on highway (cruise control) and average combined of 30 mpg. best compact suv. they are not making solid vehicles like these anymore.
Remember if you are an owner of a Bluetec, you are available for a free recall replacement for the emissions systems. Just got mine done and now Mercedes Benz is going to mail me a check for the settlement.
ormand3000 The only problem with the Q5 is hat you are dealing with VW tech, now I know VW does a lot of good things, but when it comes to navigation, it sucks hands down, it always feels a few generation behind.
You are missing the point of diesels. HP is not what counts, torque is (and it's massive compared to the 3.5)...as Cooley has explained in this and many other videos.
Good take but after driving both, we brought the glk250 2013 diesel in 2017. Now has 180k Miles’s It’s more nimble and agile because it’s smaller. I also find the smaller engine better tuned for the 7 speed providing the right amount of torque at right gearing to provide a hot hatchback style of a drive. We’re probably going to get an x5 as well though or a cayenne diesel next because the glk is too small in the rear for long journeys and are looking for a replacement to another vehicle. I would take the glk if I was going by myself or with a friend because it is really that good
Yeah the GLK lease is not too bad. My gripe is M.Benz has to be the only car maker that sell $60,000+ vehicles with piss yellow halogens headlamps. Rarely you see a GLK, C or E class with proper (led/xenon) Lighting Package. It behooves me that they continue to short change us when in 2015 you can buy a $19,000 Kia that has better lighting tech than a $65,000 E350. Wifey is picking up her third Benz this month; it is a GLK lease with a $50,000+ sticker price. Sadly it comes with very-dim piss yellow halogens even though the 302HP beast will be delivered loaded with every feature imaginable inside the car. WTF Mercedes!? Thank goodness my BMW has xenons.
Why is it that luxury cars like this have shitty technology?? It's got great interior and exterior finishes but the infotainment system is not as good as the entire vehicle. This is my opinion. The Honda, Tesla, and VW have the best car infotainment. Honda delivers very good car technology like BSW, the new vacuum cleaner, new camera features, and Japanese design is not as bad as American design but the overall quality is a passing. I don't understand why rich people have to spend their money on this. Is it because of the brand, the looks. ?? One thing I know is that their missing out on the overall safety and quality, and pricing!!
You wouldn't understand unless you own the car. I have a 2012 GLK350 and the electronics in it ARE slow. You would have no patience for this car either if you were in either of our shoes.
David Nakase CNET does the Tech review BEFORE the drive review! That is the flipping point of being here. You must be the idiot that goes to the Steakhouse and complain that they don't have enough variety of Vegan dishes or Chicken. I've been looking for you for a long time. lol
I've since moved on the RegularCars as CNET is too SiliconValleyPoser for me. If I had a point it's that if you are going to review a pig, don't waist time om it's lipstick. No one over 40 will spend the time to figure out the "InfoTainment" system beyond tuning the radio to the (maybe) 3 channels they listen to if and when they turn on the radio. And we have phones that give us directions just fine. For once I'd like to see an auto review where they plucked the vehicle from a rental or commercial fleet rather took the UltratPlatnumDaimond trim level the manufacturer had on offer. Outside a handful of AutoJournos, none of these guys can afford that shit and get all wowed by the bells and whistles. Acting like that's their life style, when in reality they drive a 12 year old beater with roll down windows.
David I hear you brother BUT I prefer the CNET reviews because a car in the "normal world" that you and me drive in is more than how it drives. We don't live in the Mad Max world where you drive like there is no road signs or police. Most of us enjoy the interior tech since that is where we spend most of our time with car there. You may never use the 450HP your M5 may have but you will use the navigation and infotainment features every day you drive. This is why CNET puts that first in their reviews and not last. Drive quality is important as well but not before interior comfort and quality.
The price (51k) is ridiculous. For much less that that you can get a maxed out Honda CR-V (35k) or Volvo XC60 (45k). Durability? That Honda will be around as long or longer than the Benz I think.
Waste of money seriously a rearview camera being optional cmon Mercedes! A honda Civic offers a rearview camera standard this is why I will never buy a german car waste of a boatload of money.
I've always hated this ugly piece of crap. It looks like a Jeep with a Mercedes grill and badges and some fake composite woods on the dashboard. Ugly ass thing. Glad they got rid of it.
Brian Colley is the best car reviewer, period: right to the point (No BS), articulate/well spoken and knowledgeable! Great job Mr Cooley!
@Aziz HACHIMI, I agree. TopGear America should have chosen him for the show. He is a bit like Jeremy on the British show without being such an a-hole
Ok. well it obviously has a father of a G-Class and a mother of a C-Class.
Definitely see roots and cues from the G class....
Bro, you are a better Auto journalist than the Top Gear dudes...
i get close to 40 mpg on highway (cruise control) and average combined of 30 mpg. best compact suv. they are not making solid vehicles like these anymore.
How many miles have you put on it? Has it been reliable, especially the turbos?
Remember if you are an owner of a Bluetec, you are available for a free recall replacement for the emissions systems. Just got mine done and now Mercedes Benz is going to mail me a check for the settlement.
What $30?
@@cop2506 $3500
Best small suv
ormand3000 The only problem with the Q5 is hat you are dealing with VW tech, now I know VW does a lot of good things, but when it comes to navigation, it sucks hands down, it always feels a few generation behind.
Audi reliability and parts in the US... good luck
He was funny af with the address inputs lol
You are missing the point of diesels. HP is not what counts, torque is (and it's massive compared to the 3.5)...as Cooley has explained in this and many other videos.
It actually looks like the G-Class a bit. That's who its daddy is.
369 torques from a 2.1 liter mother of god
No. 369 ft lbs of torque. Torque isn’t a thing you can buy at the Olive Garden like breadsticks. It’s a measurement of power.
Thinking of this over the BMW X1, Diesel is the way to go!
24/33 is very good for a vehicle that weighs over 4000 pounds.
Woah did anybody else catch that sunroof closing camera work. Lol i think that's the first time i've seen anybody do that. Creative
Yes. He's doing the v/o from a car museum.
This GL is definitely getting better looking
First to say that Cooley is awesome
THE GOD OF ALL CAR REVIEWERSSS ALL HAIL TO COOLEY HAHAHA
"smallest diesels engine" pffff its 2.2liter and 200horse = more than enough for everyone.
wow! good looking car
watching this after the video about the cameras that they use to shoot videos, it kinda have a different feel about it now...
im sure he does but he is making a point. if you had that car you would be right pissed in the first week. best speaker on cnet!
Its NOT an a suv its a crossover, its a great car dont get me wrong BUT for a 4 clyinder diesel yah that isnt good mpg
this is a nice car
a great great car 😀
CNET should stay with reviewing Bose and Beats headphones. And Tesla cars. Leave the car reviews to professionals, lol.
Perhaps they'd put this engine in a C-class and sell it here if we like diesels a little more, and that'd be the perfect car.
actualy is best to have small engines and turbo rather than have big engines and no turbo
If it annoys you sooo much, ill trade you my 02' lancer :P
you didnt answer my question mister.
The 2014 ml voice system is good, you can speak out the whole address at once now :D.....
That's a big fat lie, it's daddy looks to be the g class.
Cooley is awsome
is there anything u ever like? BMW X3, MB GLK, Audi Q5, ?
Rob Lycan He loves the BMW 640i
24/33 is quite bad for a Deisel, let alone a 4 cylinder Deisel
A diesel 2014 bmw X5 gets about the same mpg despite being alot larger, 6 cylinder and just nicer

do rich people ever tow anything I've noticed a lot of new luxury cars can't haul much
***** nah we don't. we have all our stuff there before we show up to our weekend homes.
olaf2046 yeah or for a road trip rent a full size RV
You don't have to be rich to own one. They aren't expensive. Most of the women in my area drive a white one with tint

THIS CAR WAS BASICALLY MADE FOR WOMEN.
ALL THE NANNIES AND SAFETY ON BOARD.....it makes sense.

Joshtin Comendador VW and "best car infotainment" in the same sentence? That's hilarious.

On o
He has absolutely no patience
NO ONE WANTS TO PAY FOR THESE SAFETY FEATURES LIKE BLIND SPOT WARNING ETC THEY SHOULD BE STANDARD

COOLEY!
Cadillac SRX or GLK???
I drive 2011 c class, it's much faster to set navi manually then by voice.
im sorry that cooley dont have a tv show yet #ithinkitwouldbecool
Anyone notice the Adidas sweat pants
Sure. Pay me $25k plus the lancer and the car is yours.
Yah but it aint good for a Diesel, whats the point of a Diesel with this kinda of MPG anyway.
hows rear seat room?
I'm in love with this car but too poor buy it
how the hell are u dressed!?!?!?

no i didnt hear anything
200 hp from a 2.1 liter mommy of jesus
A seven speed true cog automatic transmission? You sure it's not a CVT as found in the Toyota Rav4??? HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

Yes, so eloquently said. With a myriad of terrible grammar to go along with it. Congratulations.
Hey dude stay cool dont be so angry all the time you look so angry like a professor of history
he's not angry that's just his style
Is he on Meth?
Obviously it's a e class mixed with the g wagon 😒
Durability because that deep what???
durability because of that Diesel (engine), sorry you asked 2 years ago, and someone replies just now, i love my 2014 GLK bluetec
Never said it was kid
When are they going to finally put android in the car?
how is it bad for an suv? kid!
More than 4 min. in to get a drive review? Sad.
It's called car TECH for a reason.....

not a suv
for 3 minutes this guy talks about the radio .
