Although his mum & dad are no longer together, events not too long ago illustrated the torment & distress they still feel even after almost thirty years. My heart bleeds for them. Much of what they did to poor James was kept out of public domain. Absolutely dreadful. In Norway a few years later a similar murder occurred of a little girl by two boys - the way it was dealt with was very different. I am so confused as to what is the most effective form of punishment, since there is no doubt that James and his parents could not have been punished more. Is revenge a healthy option? Yet I know if this had happened to my family I would be as embittered...which is why perhaps the law doesn't deal with emotions. RIP James, may your spirit live in your younger brother...x

James wasn't left to run around. He wandered out of the butcher shop as his mum paid for her purchase. Had she gone after him in the other direction she would have reached him with the two boys but sadly she didn't.
