Thank you very much for these wonderful wonderful videos on Gettysburg. It has been very very interesting and I have learned a lot from the videos. I am totally blind and have other disabilities and live alone here in Texas with on a very short amount of income from Social Security, so I am not able to travel, unfortunately, but with you making these videos and describing things and reading things is a big help. So I would like to ask you whenever you come across anything to read if you could read as much as you possibly can because the more you do that the more people like me will be able to benefit from it and learn as well and describing things like he have been doing, you may not realize it, but I know that because there is no way of knowing, but who knows how many other people that are blind, and with other physical disabilities that cannot, travel to get around to these places so your eyes and you describing everything and everything you will be helping who knows how many other people and that is truly a blessing to help so many people like that. God bless you keep up the great work that you are doing God bless you take care.Susan from Houston, Texas

I finally got to watch this!
I love all your videos as you know the longer the better 😁 This Gettysburg series has been pure bliss for me. Between my crochet business and watching my granddaughter I haven’t gotten to go for the past 5 years. Not only did you fill the empty hole of missing it, you also showed me things I’d never seen!! 😊 I now have a new list of places to walk and experience in person the next time I go. So thank you thank you thank you JD for all the time, effort, knowledge and love you put into the Gettysburg videos. They were appreciated more than I can ever convey 🥰

Love the series on Gettysburg - thank you for the parts of the stories that you told. I had been watching American Battlefield Trust videos and learning, and Matt Atkinson with the NPS - all of which add to what I've learned. But felt that your videos were different in the knowledge that was shared. There is so much to learn and know about the battle and everyone working together helps educate us. I've been following you for less than a year, but have caught up on all your videos and really appreciate them and your presentation. Thank you also for being honest about your being a Christian. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ....Romans 1:16 Safe travels to you as you continue to help share history.

Thanks JD for taking the time from your busy schedule to spend with us. I started watching you for your WWII content, but I have to say you turned me into a huge Gettysburg fan because of this series. I have a stack of books to read and I've become a fan of several podcasts. The bonus is my wife really enjoyed the place too and we have plans to go back.
I wish things might work out for me going to Normandy, but I'm beginning to think that and my other Europe plans might just have to be put on hold a little longer.
I'm going to start looking into the local history. The River Raisin National Battlefield Park is only 15 minutes from my house and I've never been there. Some War of 1812 history there. They just opened a new visitors center, so I'll have to check it out.
If you need help with any of your projects, I'm more than willing and I've got the time, just putting that out there. In the meantime, safe travels and best wishes to you and your family.

Enjoyed tour series immensely! Horses were a big part of the story of the civilians of Gettysburg. Thousands died during the battle. A lot of nasty aftereffects of the battle were caused by dead horses. The carcasses were very difficult to dispose of. They were too big to bury, they tried burning them, which made things worse. I just don't recall how or if they dealt with the problem.

Thank you for your videos. As a history nut and obsessed I have truly enjoyed your videos and have learned from them. I have been blessed to have visited Arizona and a lot of the west along with Alaska. Depending on location you may want to consider Ohio, you could cover a lot of presidential graves, homes, war of 1812 etc. A lot of history here covering a number of centuries including the Johnson Island prison site and graves, Kent State shooting memorial etc. . Anyway I know you are pulled in many directions so thank you for your videos and time devoted to making them. Joe

As a Canadian lover of history and all your history videos, please don't forget your neighbors to the north. We, as Canadians are really deeply rooted and intertwined not only historically but as brothers and sisters evolving together through history of North America and the world. Especially WW1 and WW2. As a believer, I want to comment to you that another great topic would be how the complete foundation of our countries are founded on God's Word. Back to the Canadian/American thing; there are 2 points I'd like to highlight as topics if presented with your awesome charismatic would be great interest to ALL history buffs. 1-my grandad Campbell fought in WW1. He fought at Vimy Ridge in France and Passchendaele and survived. He was in WW1 from 1915 until the end in 1918. He saw and experienced hell on earth. He was shot in his hip and suffered shell shock from trench warfare. Both times sent to England to recover; both times returned to the front and after Nov. 11, 1918 was sent back to England and then back to Canada. Vimy Ridge is an overwhelming story about Canadians and the Canadian soldiers. Too much to explain here, but aa a short note, Vimy Ridge is viewed by historians as the birth of Canada as a world class nation. VIMY IS A FANTASTIC Canadian story. 2-I was born in Fort Erie Ontario and lived two houses away from the old Fort. I played ours in and around the grounds of it for years. I found out through the internet that in August of 1814, the British/Canadians launched a sneak attack on the then American held old fort in the middle of the night right over our old property. Again, a ton I'm not saying but on a side note I remember as a kid playing around a monument near the front of the old fort where the remains of approximatley 150 US soldiers remains are at rest. BTW, I love Galatians 4. Carson the Canuck who really enjoys your vids.

Missed your live stream over here in the UK, apologies. That said, thoroughly enjoyed your Gettysburg series. Over 40 years ago we had some lessons in school here on the American Civil War. You and your co-op input through the American Battlefield Trust really brought it to life.
Love your work. Hope someday to visit the US and get to some of your infamous historical sites.
Being born in 1963, I have always had an interest in the events in Dallas November 22nd...studied it in detail.
If you ever get the chance to do something on that, that would be fascinating.

I think I have read every book on Henry and his unfortunate wives. My dog is named Henry but not after the king just coincidence. JFK and Dallas was so shocking and incredibly sad. My family was glued to the tv and cried for days and days. When John John saluted his daddy’s casket we literally fell apart. If the book, “Death of a President “ (William Manchester) is still in print you must read it. Jacqueline Kennedy sued to stop the publishing but lost. I saved all the newspapers of this tragedy. @@janicelindsey9557 If you are into the life and times of King Henry VIII and you find yourself this side of the Atlantic in the future, I can recommend visits to Hampton Court Palace, The Tower of London and Windsor Castle. The tours are excellent with artefacts of the man and his Court on display. At the naval dockyard in Portsmouth there is the Mary Rose exhibition- Henry’s favourite warship which he witnessed sinking in the Solent, on its way to engage the French Fleet . The salvaged wreck is something else, along with preserved items that were also recovered - such as personal items. Fascinating stuff.

There were almost 3 million horses and mules that served during the Civil War. Approximately half lost their lives. Horses & mules were essential to both armies, from moving artillery, in the calvary to moving supplies. Vicksburg is so much more interesting. Trip idea for you, I would love you to come to England and take a trip around the WW2 sites that we still have, you have a real talent for bringing the people out in stories and I would love to know more about the stories from these bases and if the bases are gone what is there now.
You could do the south where D-Day was amassed, the damnbusters and even things like bomber county which is where I live.
Especially if you are going to Normandy like you have just said as I wrote this haha, just a short hop in a plane to the side of history that doesn’t get talked about enough (in my opinion)

My grandfather built ships in Norfolk before joining the army during WWII. We recently found items he had kept at home indicating he helped build the Alabama (materials relating to the launch). He was in the Philippines later. And, as for those who say "too much Gettysburg," is there such a thing?

When you were showing the WW 2 uniforms at the museum. I thought I bet they don't have one with an ADC patch, but they sure did. My dad was stationed at Adak. That's why I ask about it. I understand not much left there from the war But it would be cool if you went there

I lived near Dillsburg, PA. An area 4 miles south (Crystal Springs), toward Gettysburg, I rented a house near an 1820’s horse drawn grist mill & general store 1863. Supposedly, JEB Stuart’s cavalry camped in my yard. Rested there for 2 days Jun 28-29, 1863. I believe, I found one of his spurs. General store & mill was robbed of horses, hogs, wagons, shoes, sugar/salt, etc.
Wrightsville, PA & the Union bridge burning over Susquehanna is another good Gettysburg story

James Burke tv series "Connections" went through history and connecting dots- The perfume spritzer (1700's)led to the motor engine carburettor of 1890's. History taught to draw connections between Vietnam and Afghanistan. etc. It is better to learn from the mistakes of others than make them yourself. Histories Bounty.

Everyone was born into that mess. In western new york where i grew up...i had a black friend (context) whose family was given the property their ancestors were working slaves in when the white family passed away. Thats about as good a story as you can get....and from what i understood....were very grateful
