- Last week I was on a 3 day IOSH managing safely course. I enjoyed it but it was mentally draining as it was a lot of info to process in a short space of time.
The final assessments were a risk assessment exercise and a written closed book test.
I always appear to be quite a confident person but in all honesty I have very low self confidence in my own ability, I start doubting myself and that in itself creates pressure.
Happily for me is that my risk assessment was passed straight away and after my test I had my course completion accepted as I passed both parts of the exam.
The examination took place at Gtg in south street Glasgow and the tutor was David Smith ( who was excellent )
I am now scheduled to do my nebosh course in October which I am looking forward to and nervous about in equal measures as I don’t class myself as the most academic person in the world.
It was nice to get out on the bike with full panniers.

I'm IOSH trained from a previous employment, well done for doing it. The mantra's you need to apply to risk assesment are- "people are stupid" and "you need to protect the lowest common denominator". Which are basically saying the same thing.
Thanks, it’s a very handy tool to have. I am booked in for my nebosh in October which will be a hard qualification to get.

I think we all do stuff in our jobs that we do every day without thinking about it. We do it brilliantly..... Until there's a word like Exam or TEST attached to it 🤦🤷♂️

It is indeed fact that Human Beans are even more unpredictable in their actions than their Mexican Jumping Bean counterparts. Plan all you like, put measures in place, warn them of the dire consequences but still someone will unexpectedly randomly do something particularly stupid. Congratulations on passing the exams, I'm sure you will do the best you can to instill safety. Qualification for the Darwin awards however will always evade preparation even on a scale of 25/25

If you have less than 5 employees you are not obligated by law to carry out risk assessments. It is however good practice to do it. 👍👊

I hate doing these things. Very boring but have to do them unfortunately.

Dealing with projects I fully understand the H&S aspects. Great to see your passed the IOSH and working towards the NEBOSH. Will we see any of the safety training overflow into your videos? Health and Safety is everywhere including motorcycle riding and Maintenance. Do we always work safely at home as well as work where it is more controlled with permits and RAMS . Play safe.Cheers

@Zedhead_ Well it was the getting up 3 times during the night to pee,while in a tent that has left me hanging...Throwing up in a huge bin in the middle of a beer tent was a 1st for me though!!! 😂🤣😂👍
