Subscribed brother, coming over from my comments to support and show some love, I love the concept and yes you can make aquascaping any way you dream up. Even with a narrow space it can look great. And you will always be your toughest critic on your own scape always.
Yep I have 2 tank setup sideways a 5 1/2 gallon and a 10 gallon that actually are sitting on my computer desk and my monitor sit in the middle. great video and great ideas
Thanks so much! That's awesome that you have tanks so close by. My office doubles as my fish room and being able to zone out for a few minutes looking at little creatures and plants is very relaxing during busy work days
This was honestly a great first try! You can honestly remove tannins by pre boiling or presoaking your wood and botanicals and continually just soaking it until there are no more tannins leaching from them! I think you just needed time to let the foreground pants grow in, or using a smaller carpet plant in front the create depth and different sizes of leaves! Good luck on your journey aquascaping!
Update on the Hygger HOB Canister -- I cannot recommend this filter at this point. After the air purging ramped up significantly last night, it completely ceased working by this morning. When I went to check the filter it was extremely hot, and after taking everything apart I found nothing impeding the impeller, which did not return to functioning even after a thorough cleaning despite not finding any debris. I don't know how dangerous this amount of wattage would be if it continued to burn itself up like this, but I'm concerned it could be a disaster if it wasn't identified in time. I'm talking to Hygger support about the issues but I would absolutely steer clear of this filter until they can make me confident it is not a serious fire hazard. I'm looking for filter recs again, what makes sense to run on a 5 gallon that is not a sponge filter, that I can hide to some degree if possible, and that has some room for me to add purigen? AC 20? I'm considering just getting the smallest sunsun canister filter and chucking that in, I haven't really had issues with their slightly larger canisters so far.
Creative use of space! Looking forward to watching the evolution.
You and me both! Thank you!
Evolution isn't real. This was God's plan. 🙏🏽

I swear by undergravel filters. I have a Penn Plex for my 20 gallon long.
