    3. Go Whale Watching
    Whale watching is something you have to do during the winter months in South Africa.
    Hermanus is one of the best and most renowned whale watching spots in the country. Hundreds of Southern Right whales make their way to Walker Bay and come close to shore to breed every winter. Watching these majestic creatures of the sea can be captivating to onlookers as their muscular tails propel their huge bodies out of the water.

    4. See the Sardine Run
    This extraordinary marine spectacle occurs every year from May to July. Billions of sardines - more specifically the Southern African pilchard, move in a band up the coast to spawn in the cool waters of the Agulhas Bank and then move northward. The entire shoreline of KwaZulu-Natal is coloured silver while the tiny fish make their way to the shores of the beaches.
    5. Surf some famous waves
    You will find rideable waves in South Africa all year round but the best time for surfing is during the winter months. Jeffrey's Bay on the Eastern Cape’s coast is one of the best surf spots in the world and offer some serious waves during the winter months. It draws some of the best surfers from around the world on a regular basis.
