Excellent presentation! This should be shown to all new OR staff. I had a preceptor years ago that taught me about this. Unfortunately, not all surgeons will assist with the positioning of their patients. There are times when the anesthesiologist isn't available, so often it's up to the RN to direct the positioning because the CRNA has to stay at the head.

I doubt they'll bother to do this safe positioning in my hospital. They don't give that much of a damn

Should never tuck the sheet under the mattress...... The correct way is under the patient. FYI

Id rather die than be displayed that way.

you forgot the spotlight that shines on your genitals.... Or having this position as a man having perianal surgery.... with your toolbox displayed like a bouquet of flowers in the middle of the room under a spotlight. I've been told I need to undergo this reasonably soon.... I'm modest to the point it could kill me due to childhood circumcision.

😐😩 so the entire time my whole lower half is just out and naked? Oh good god .. no more surgery for me just let whatever is going on kill me. How embarrassing.

So how is surgery sterile? They have no gloves on, are touching patient, the pad and sheet and poking everywhere. Yet an argument they use on patient who wants to wear underwear , depend, or sport bra is can't because aren't sterile. Doing all this and all the while patient is totally nude to all in room. Another case for same gender teams if the paying customer wants. Humiliating.

FL DP, this is just a training video!!!!! This is not a surgery. This video covers a very important aspect for positioning in stirrups. Nerve impairment can happen. These steps have to be taken to ensure our patient's safety and well- being. I never had a post op neuropathy because my patients were positioned, padded and secured safely and correctly. The patient still has their gown on and covered.
When the patient is positioned, then warm blankets are placed over each leg and chest. The CRNA usually places a Bair Hugger on the chest. This blows warm air throughout the device.
You cannot wear underwear for procedures where the vagina or bladder is the op site. For a man this position would be for a prostatectomy or bladder procedures, urinary tract.
