It is our summer 2022 season opener for @schlitterbahnwaterparksand2217 Galveston! We haven't made it to New Braunfels yet but soon!! You guys know we love the Schlitterbahn Waterparks! They are so family-friendly in their approach to operations. They are also budget-friendly allowing food to be brought in and free parking. We love Schlitterbahn and are looking forward to a near-normal operating season.

It’s a good water park, new braunfels is better though just because it’s the original and more interesting because of the setting. I just went here, super fun. Definitely recommend

Can you buy Fast Pass at any point through the day or do they have to be bought before/at entry? Wondering if we can gauge the lines and then go back and buy them if needed. Do you think it is worth it on a Friday in July?
If you have the money to burn, it could be worth it. I'll always be on the lookout for saving money.
It's the busiest week of the year. You can see online that there are still Fast Lane passes available. I would probably risk it and see if you need it before committing the extra $50 plus tax per person. Remember, it can sell out and may not be available. Have a plan to start with the most popular rides first and best of luck!

Hey how deep is the water? It seems so much fun but I can’t swim
You can stand up easily in almost every attraction. The website does list the water depth once you click on the attractions. I am not a strong swimmer and don't feel unsafe.

We were highly disappointed after our last annual visit to the park in Galveston. It's no longer an indoor park. That's right. All of that has been torn down and is wide open sun, or cold air, depending on the time of year. Actually the indoors was never warm in the colder months. The water stays ice cold, so I guess the purpose of the past roofing was to help block direct sun. Other terrible decisions were to hide the float tubes to where it's almost impossible to find the small stack. They've narrowed down the places where you can enter and exit the river, and good luck finding the entrance. The waves that used to come out of the river and push people along have been reduced to small waves that is far less fun to experience. Perhaps after I witnessed a fat lady almost drown last year fighting to stand back up as the waves knocked her down, and perhaps after others had issues, the park decided to back off a little on the action. The conveyer belt ramp that we used to ride up and down before entering the rapids is not operational, and various other things have been removed or simplified. Aside all of these frown-inducing changes, one thing I was glad to see was a few SAFETY decisions that bothered me in the past. At the top of all of those tall water rides is usually one or two teenage workers fighting the high winds. They used to have a large umbrella that they had to manually set down in a hole when they wanted shaded. I watched a frail girl try to put the umbrella in the hole and the wind yanked her arms up in the air as she struggled to bring the umbrella back down. I was so pissed off that I couldn't see straight. Imagine her being yanked off the top of the ride to her death. Gladly it seems that the park decided to fasten the umbrellas in a more permanent way. I hope they saw my past complaints and acted on them, but who knows.
My whole family heavily favors the New Braunfels location. Some of the changes that have been made under new ownership can certainly be frustrating, but I try to remind myself that there's a reason. That reason is likely safety.
did you guys purchase tickets ahead of time or were you able to purchase at the park?
We have a season pass. Purchasing ahead of time will get you in the park faster.

It was a one time member perk. Unlike New Braunfels, you don't have to schedule a time and just go in the fast lane. It's a much better value, unlimited fast lane.
I’ve never been, should I bring a wagon with kids 5 & 4 yo?? Can you leave everything at tables unintended?
You can leave things at tables. Obviously valuables should not be left like credit cards and money.
The wagon would only be useful to get your stuff in.
Around 2:15, you say to take food and a cooler. So we can bring those things into the park? I visit galveston next week
Yes we take a cooler every time. You can take everything except glass and alcohol. They will search your cooler.

They do not know yet but I just purchased season passes. @@SuitcasePrincess is it packed on the weekend? We went on The 4th of July before the C word that was a mistake! I had anxiety the whole time I thought I was gonna lose them in the crowd
I would be there at opening, preferably Sundays, for the lowest crowds. That or a day with rain in the forecast. Everything this year has been busier than before the Pandie. Just enjoy yourself and have fun. Also the whole place is walled in and gates to get out. That always makes me feel better knowing my kids can't just walk off.
Do you think the fast lane is worth it? $50 per person on Friday…
We enjoyed our use of it. I think it's a much better value the way it's handled at Galveston as opposed to New Braunfels. You basically just walk through an alternate lane and right to the front. It was great!
What shoes are you and your kids wearing?
I am in tevas, my girls are in water shoes.
How do you keep credit cards safe, do you leave them with your stuff or do you have a water proof thing that you take with you?
I have a waterproof cell phone pouch and you can rent lockers. We usually don't buy anything in the park. We take in all food and drinks.
