I always do that. I don’t know why I’m so paralyzed by the fear of failing. Not trying has been devastating anyway. Here’s to hoping I at least try on 2019!
I do it too. I mentioned the pattern of knocking myself down before anyone else has the chance and they totally didn't get it. This makes me feel better
Dax and kristen are not just people that are able to articulate themselves as a team but also as individuals. They can definitely articulate and get their point across as well as have ppl like me really connect and feel connected to their experience or explanation... i love them as a couple/team as well as individuals. The way they tell stories or explain things as an individual, they're really good at connecting with people. They have so much patience and a way of navigating themselves through life that i respect so much.
I absolutely love Armchair Expert. Literally one of the best parts of my whole day. I listen over again older episodes, and I’m always so happy and I feel like they hit me to my core. They make me think about things in a new way, and Dax is so relatable, and so is Monica. I don’t think I’d be as happy as I am if his podcast were to suddenly just end. If you ever see this Dax and Monica, I hope you know you bring joy to many. Please don’t stop putting out content, it’s an amazing two hours I look forward to each week... 💙
I would say that the podcast didn't just happen that fast. All you've done leading up to it has prepared you for it and you're great at it. I love it and watch it all the time.
Dax's podcast has really helped me grow up. I've grown up with a lot of love in my home, but little guidance. Dad has helped me hear a lot of different opinions and ways of thinking and interpreting life. I really appreciate his guidance.
Ps... For years I had heard about you and also your wife Kristen bell but never really knew you or your work. Then I watched you on Ellen… And feel crazy in love with you ....your brain ....your thoughts ...your humor!!! I fell in love with your wife!! For all of the same above… But I think mostly because of her expressions of undying love for you. It is, by far, the sweetest and most endearing display of affection for a spouse. 👍 so I watched everything I could find on you… Every episode on Ellen any talkshow you ever dead or that both of you have done and not just together and absolutely like laughed hysterically, love them endlessly!!!! And today I started watching your podcasts. So I am a DAX Shepard and Kristen bell late Bloomer… But I just wanted to throw in my two cents and tell you how wonderful the two of you are!!!!👍👍❣️♥️♥️♥️
GREAT interview... a few thoughts based on what was stated... 1:22 easy come easy go... truth is, we're all worm food waiting to happen. We all die. We came from nothing, we return to nothing - what have we lost...? Nothing! Or, we came from unconditional love and light, and we return to unconditional love and light - what have we lost? STILL, Nothing! 1:26 "my pattern is" ... vs "my pattern thus far seems to have been..." 'my pattern is' is a real-time statement of identity. It's how he lives, unconsciously in real time. Adding in a temporal/time marker focused on the past - 'my pattern thus far seems to have been...' makes the statement about his pattern something that's happened in the past and leaves open, unconsciously, a potential for a NEW pattern in the current moment. Our language often reveals our reality if we know what to listen for... pattern of softening - 2:37 "then it becomes" ... vs. "then it CAN become..." correlation isn't causation - choice is just about always possible when it comes to meaning and projecting ourselves into various situations now and in the future. 2:40 Good catch on shifting language from 'you get stuck in' (projection) to 'I get stuck in' (taking ownership of personal reality). 2:44 "and I'm trying to break myself of that" - "try" never works. Try to stand up - don't ACTUALLY stand up, just 'try' and you'll sit and strain because the goal of the statement isn't ACTUALLY getting the result, the goal of that statement is to just try to get the result. Step on the gas, step on the break and go nowhere... and wonder why it doesn't work. It IS working, the unconscious is just aimed at the wrong target. Attachment is a powerful thing, language is a powerful thing.
Wow, listening to him made me realise I also do this - try to prepare friends for my failure in order to avoid embarrassment. My career is very competitive (as many are) so whenever I'm asked about my aspirations I always point how unlikely I am to achieve them, just so when I fail they'll know that I am the rule, not the exception. When I listen to him though, it's so clear how that's not the right path to take.
Oh wow. Talk about holding up a mirror to me! I do the same thing all the time, with projects, grades. I expect to fail and spread that I will fail among people who care. This way you don't get dissappointed...
Dax, I started loving you & Kristin separately, but then started loving you both as a couple! Beautiful! couple individually & as a couple. I believe you both are popular now because of a need that we have as a whole, who want to see & feel genuine emotion! Beautiful! coupe, as well as people who put humility & humanity into what they have, with what you’ve been through, & what y’all want. Keep being you. You don’t need surgery, treatments or whatever, to keep y’all relevant, loved, adored, & accepted. Y’all are my heroes & I learn so much from y’all. Plus I get my complete belly laughs from you. Luv you both & have a ton of respect for ya
Love Dax' podcasts. However, when watching him he always looks like there is so much pain behind his eyes. Sometimes looks like he is going to tear up. Hope he is doing well
I think Dax and Kristin should start a marriage/relationship retreat! I’ve learned a lot through them and I love how open and transparent they are about the “messy stuff” that typically gets swept under the rug. Oh- and can Ellen and Portia co-host?! 💕 Dream big!!
Oh my god!!! I am SOOO LIKE THAT!! Then I am surrounded by these wonderful friends who keep telling me what a strong person I am and how I am so good at things and so talented and that I should be positive and quit being so negative that everything‘s going to be OK. But I know that they are not correct in their assessment. 🥴. So now I am in a position where I absolutely have to succeed in totally maintaining my life and for my animals and the finances are not what I was told they would be and all of a sudden… Here I am… And I am terrified!!!!
I think that most people do this tbh. Especially this day and age where we are all exposed to the success and perfect filtered versions of so many lives. We all wanna protect ourselves from seeing disappointment in the eyes of those around us. Much easier to self sabotage😬🤷🏻♀️
Only movie i saw of his was that 1 with Jessica Simpson at the chain store. N he played a perfect jerk! Great great acting! I hope to see his career get to a Keanu Reeves level, i believe he has it in him and he seems like a very down to earth nice human being. He is as good as the greats.. just needs the right roles. Thats just my personal opinion.
They might as well should after having Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis on recently. Not bathing your kids? Disgusting. And then he and Kristen his wife admitting the same? I lost all respect for them. It’s hard to listen to the show knowing this.
I always do that. I don’t know why I’m so paralyzed by the fear of failing. Not trying has been devastating anyway. Here’s to hoping I at least try on 2019!
You can do it!
I believe in you 100%
I do it too. I mentioned the pattern of knocking myself down before anyone else has the chance and they totally didn't get it. This makes me feel better
Seeing how I feel actually written in words, kinda hits me hard
Hope 2020 isn’t slowing you down.. it’s a shitty year for earth but hope you keep going!! 🎉🍻

This man is wonderful. Armchair is one of my favorite podcasts for sure.
He is the only person that I listen to for podcasts! Love it!

I just discovered your interviews today. They are good.

Gosh I love this dude’s brain so much.
PLEASE TELL HIM HE NEEDS TO DO A TED TALK
i honestly second that
I love armchair expert. Dax have your Mom on again. She is eloquent and enthralling

It's rewarding to listen to Dax's insights into stuff... makes me realize I'm a lot healthier than I would have imagined

We'll be seeing Dax in Santa Fe in April. Looking forward to it!
Build a trust relationship w yourself. Self credibility is sooo important. Plus everyone starts somewhere.
So glad Dax made it out of drug destruction because a beautiful mind is, as they say, a terrible thing to waste. He's an intelligent man.
That man has done a lot of hard work with a good therapist! I wish I'd seen this 20 years ago. Shit... 10 years ago.
Love Dax' podcasts. However, when watching him he always looks like there is so much pain behind his eyes. Sometimes looks like he is going to tear up. Hope he is doing well
Probably cause deep down he wants to be with Monica & drink and do drugs again
Ugh, I have felt about projects the exact same way!
Love Dax and mon! Keep it up yall

Lost me at Ellen :/

I loved him in Idiocracy and Baby Mama

Anyone else notice that when someone says "on so many levels," they never explain what the levels are and it's usually only two?
Be like Dax. I will be like him.
Dax!!!
Hey fax your awesome man
Lackluster pod but love this dudes movies
Only movie i saw of his was that 1 with Jessica Simpson at the chain store. N he played a perfect jerk! Great great acting! Hes words are like Mozart's music

As Emma Chamberlain once said, "why not give the absolute minimum, so you can only go up from there?"
So that was your hidden turn me in wanted man poster huh
I also have a podcast for actors too! My fear is that it'll never be popular like Dax's ( julian j franco show )
Isn't this the forced vaccinations dude?
Silly fear. Get outside of California. No Burt cares if your movie falls. Bigger problems in the world. Cash your check
