- Vent gleet is the infection and inflammation of the cloaca and additionally known as infected cloaca or Cloacitis.
Vent gleet is not exactly an illness, however it shows some signs because of increased pH ranges and an imbalance of bad bacteria in a chicken's digestive tract.
Signs of Vent Gleet
Missing feathers around the vent
Pasted up feathers around the vent
Whitish discharge from vent
Diarrhea
Smelly droppings
Red or bloody vent
Soft, swollen abdomen
White sores on the vent
Causes for vent gleet
Eating moldy feed
Not giving enough, clean water
