- Following on from how to weather the wagons in part 1.
A look at the way I created the scrap loads for the wagons and a look at the completed project being shown at exhibition.
PART 1 - • HAIRSPRAY WEATHERING -... - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
Good use of using spare parts that would just end up getting thrown away and the end result looks very realistic. The Roket Hot glue looks to be an ideal product too to use to stick the parts in and permanently hold them . Very enjoyable and informative video again you have produced
Top class load!👍👏🏻
Great upload james
Thanks
Hello James. Have just pressed the subscribe button for your channel. Only watched the heavy weathering of the scrap wagons so far and found them most interesting. Shall probably add that to my layout when I have finished my current projects. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Michael,
Glad you like what you've seen so far. Thanks for subscribing too.
Pleased to do so. Look forward to what you have next. In the meantime maybe you would like to take a look at my channel. It is a mix of my 00 gauge layout and other events in my life.
already have and have subscribed too. Looks like you have a number of very interesting projects on the go.
Got a couple of 6 & 7 plank wagons & some empty steel mineral wagons (in O gauge) so might borrow your ideas and make up a "scrap-metal train". G8 video's and really useful - Kev
Hi Kevin,
Go for it. They're not modelled as often as other freight movements so leaves plenty of opportunity to create a unique mode for your own layout.
Hi James, The finished article looks amazing.. That roofing felt stuff when in the wagon would also make a good load of small crushed up slate.. Looks just like it!
Cheers Michael.
I hadn't thought about crushed slate. might make an interesting model in the future.
Hi James, just subbed you, really excellent wagon and great ideas. Can you tell me, i have a bit of crappy used track that i want to use in a scrapyard, how would you go about weathering that, just some old Hornby OO track, your thoughts would be very useful. Thanks Chris - just beginning again after many years away :)

Hi Chris. Welcome back to the hobby. Weathering track is a tricky one. My approach is to work from prototype photos. Look at the level of thd ballast, its grade and how compacted it is. After years of neglect ive seen ballast that looks more like tarmac.
For prototypes, I'd do an internet search for rail served scrap yards and then look for images of the ones you prefer the look of.
Hope that helps mate
