Just because you have been injured doesn’t mean others have. Their just trying to keep people safe and help them become aware about the possible dangers of wakesurfing
This is so funny... The doc was like "ive fallen forward before..." but the boat kept driving away didnt it? Anytime I've fallen forward it was because the nose of the board grabbed water which almost instantly stops you and you go down. By the time you hit the water, the boat is already far beyond you.
No it’s because most older boats that aren’t ski boats don’t have inboard motors instead sterndrives or I/o that extend off the back and if you fall towards the prop you could possibly hit it. Versus the inboard which are on most if not all old ski boats have the prop underneath the boat which prevents the chance of falling and hitting it
The biggest injury I have got from wakesurfing is water going up my nose and maybe the board hitting my head but the board never hurt because the wave is not very strong.
Geez, wakesurfing has got to be one of the safer sports of that type, assuming you're using the right type of boat. You're going much slower than water skiing or wake boarding, and you don't run the same risk of being slammed face first into the water at 20 mph as with wakeboarding because the board isn't attached to your feet.
I was wakeboarding and wakesurfing few times. The biggest risk is probably board slamming into your head which can happen but never did for me. The falls were very soft. On wakeboarding trials I had a few falls where I thought I have fallen on concrete.
Coast guard approved vest? Yes Any year inboard or ski/wakeboard boat? Yes People Reporting on something they obviously know nothing about? Yes. Why not ask someone to report on a topic after learning about it so you can properly inform the public.
Do they not know boats made for wakesurfing have the prop really far under the boat to the point where you would have to swim under water past the swim deck to see it.
For anybody wondering… the “dangerous” boat is a stern drive.. the one that’s apparently safer is a direct drive tow boat.. I’ve got a tige direct drive and wake surf off of it all the time 🤷♂️
not “apparently” safer.. it’s unquestionably safer. with a v-drive or a direct drive engine, the prop is under the boat, where it’s impossible to hit if you fall. if someone’s dumb enough to surf on a stern drive then that’s on them lol i didn’t even think that was a thing
First of all, not that many people are surfing outboard boats. Also, not that many people are falling forward enough to hit the propeller even if they were. I’ll bet the good doctor sees way more wakeboarding and slalom skiing injuries. The end of this video wrapped it up pretty well, “the doctor hasn’t seen any increase in injuries due to wake surfing”
Wakesurfing is MUCH safer than water-skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, etc, because it is done at 10-11 MPH. There is virtually ZERO CHANCE OF HITTING THE PROPELLER because wakesurf boats use V-drive systems that position the prop several feet in front of the swim platform. Anyone from 8 to 80 (literally) can enjoy wakesurfing their first time out, and it never gets boring because there are many tricks to learn.
This is kinda dumb because the boat will keep moving forward after you fall even if you fall forward but also in a way I kinda agree that for doing things like tubing or skiing or wake surfing, you should have an inboard boat that has the prop two feet more forward than the back of the boat
Sir I have never seen a damn pontoon boat throw a surf if that’s what you mean by engine to run into. A google search on old school wakesurf boats/ski boats still had the prop under the boat. Very easy to slow down on a wakesurf board very rare do you see a boat throwing a good wave for outboard motors. They I guess need some sort of attachment but I never have ever seen a damn outboard motor throwing down a good surf able wave.
Is this for real? Seems like an SNL skit lol! Wakesurfing is completely safe, way safer than skiing or boarding when you are only going 10-11 mph…of course assuming you have the right kind of boat, not an outboard.
You have no clue what you are taking about the boats that are designed for it are safe because the prop is under the boat and the gas fumes bubble up behind you. These things become an issue when people mod older boats that are not designed for it.
They literally have no clue what they are talking about sometimes I get my board halfway on the swimdeck and don't get hurt I also wakeboard they should talk about wakeboarding instead of wakesurfing wakeblard is a lot more dangerous
There’s a danger in walking out of your house and crossing the street you might get struck by lightning hit by a car a million things could happen to you this is the stupidest report I’ve ever seen..
Yeah I get this is old. It’s also one of the dumbest reports ever. Don’t do it with an out drive that is not designed for it. That’s it. Propeller jutting our of the water...that’s not how any of this works.
Women how much you eat sounds dangerous... surfing in the ocean is way more dangerous... driving your car is way more dangerous. Can you really not come up with better content. More people get there news from tiktok and rightfully so at this point
I wake surf I haven’t been injured it’s fun u have no clue what ur talking about
I agree out of all the times I’ve been wake surfing I haven’t had as much as chipped toe.
Just because you have been injured doesn’t mean others have. Their just trying to keep people safe and help them become aware about the possible dangers of wakesurfing
Yeah same I have been wakesurfing at Norris lake for 3 years and have never been injured or know anybody else who have
It's like the smokers who say they've been smoking their whole adult life and they aren't dead yet
@@averyg4001 no it just doesn’t happen, it’s impossible to fall onto the platform even if you do fall forward
Literally people that have no idea what they’re talking about
Facts, they’re acting like any kook with a four winn or sea ray is gonna try and surf.
kryo gennek fax
lol they said don't surf behind old boats, but you can behind i/o boats 🤦♂️🤦♂️

I see what your saying but I wouldn’t wanna take a propeller to the face from an outboard or I/O
That are kind of uneducated in this tho, “old boat” there are direct drive ski boats from the 80’s that are perfectly safe to surf on
Lol they said it’s easier to learn how to wake surf with a life jacket
@@johnmosca3655 on a lot of boats your legs can go fully under the boat
He says don’t have a old boat.. We have a 1997 Malibu and your saying you can’t surf behind it just because it old? Yeah right
No it’s because most older boats that aren’t ski boats don’t have inboard motors instead sterndrives or I/o that extend off the back and if you fall towards the prop you could possibly hit it. Zac burns Burns Well most newer boats that aren’t ski boats aren’t inboard either
Zac burns Burns I have a 2016 Boston whaler with a 175 merc outboard and do it
@@LordCowbxyRDR Let us know when you receive your Darwin Award
😂 yeah we got a 96 natique and surf behind it all the time
Lmao there whole argument went out the window when they said there hasn’t been a spike in er visits from the lake
Kooks bruh kooks
Them: wakesurfing is very dangerous
Also them: there has been no injuries
Imagine running out of content that you have to slam a sport that’s over 20 years old? 🤷♂️
The v drive system (where the prop is under the boat not behind the boat) are DESIGNED to be surfed behind.
Yeah that’s what the video says
Yeah it’s made so it blows you away. Not pull you in
We have like a late 1980 mastercraft tri star and I surfing on that beauty. Nobody is surfing on an outboard motor boat. This is kinda stupid.
The biggest injury I have got from wakesurfing is water going up my nose and maybe the board hitting my head but the board never hurt because the wave is not very strong.
Bruh no ones is going to be wake surfing behind a sterndrive
ikr. Oh no I’m gonna fall into my inboard propeller inboard motor
There are some dumb asses out there though
Spoken like a true rich white racist!

Is this the Onion?

The dude literally showed an inboard outboard and said it was dangerous then he said it was ok
Wakesurfing is MUCH safer than water-skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, etc, because it is done at 10-11 MPH.

Only reverse drive
@@keithdarman90 Or direct drive.... NO inboard/outboard.

Wake surfing is not dangerous you don’t go fast so it’s not dangerous . Wakeboarding crashes hurt more
The motor is not exposed on wakeboarding boats. My boat is a 1999 Air Nautique and the motor is not exposed
What are you talking about I’ve done it for a year and never gotten hurt
It’s not the age of the boat, it’s the location of motor
Prop, not motor
Amy is the Commissioner Gordon of the Fun Police
Not inboard/outboard or inboard, just inboard. Aka proper under boat not hanging off or protruding from the transom.
My uncle is an ER doctor and takes me wakesurfing. As last by as your not being dumb your fine
First of all that’s not a coastguard vest it’s actually not evn a pfd
No injures but news... moron!
I fucking hate when the news doesn’t know shit about anything and then tries to warn people about dangers
Damn those millenials having fun behind a boat
we bought a jet boat but we can still surf on it

Cool guy wake surfing
You dont wake surf behind a fishing boat or pontoon. Like even the wake boats from 90’s have propellers pretty par back
The only thing dangerous about wake surfing is when you fall off the board and it hits you in the shin 😭 that shit hurts 😂
Tubing is was more dangerous and wakeboarding. If you fall on a surfboard you will be fine
U can’t be going that slow that you fall into the propeller
Skateboarding is probably more dangerous lol
Using an onboard boat for it is safer but then saying it I/o boat when u just showed a pic of one saying there is a blender right there clueless lol
It’s not dangerous
