- We stayed at Machicomoco State Park, in Hayes, Virginia, for a week in June. It was our home base for a visit to Williamsburg, VA. Machicomoco is Virginia's newest state park. The sites are roomy and spread out, the scenery is amazing, and the park pays tribute to the history of the land and its people at a beautiful outdoor interpretive center. Loved camping at this park this summer and imagine my surprise as I was watching your review to see my trailer about a minute in. Maybe our paths will cross again.
Oh my goodness! Small world. Wish we had gotten the chance to meet in person and yes, hopefully they will. We loved that park and hope to make it back to VA soon!

I hadn't heard of this new state park but the sites look huge. We'll have to remember it next time we want to visit the Williamsburg area! Agreed, looks like a great place for paddle boarding!
It's a beautiful park! Just be sure that if you go hiking to check for ticks before getting back in the camper. We both had a few on our legs. The weather had been pretty wet though so that probably didn't help.
