IJS
Russ has gotten a bad rap. IMHO, Hackett broke Russ in the Broncos first game of the 2022 season against the Seahawks. By not letting Wilson go for it on a potential game-winning drive on 4th and 5, opting instead to kick a near impossible field goal, Hackett crushed Russ's confidence. That game was playing out exactly how everyone wanted, even the 12s. Of course they wanted the Seahawks to win, but they, Russ, the NFL, and everyone watching was denied the opportunity to see on Monday night whether Russ could come back to his old stadium, playing in front of his old fans, and beat his old team with a signature come from behind win. He had actually had a good game to that point. The Broncos lost primarily because of two costly Melvin Gordon goal line fumbles. I truly think that, by Hackett pulling Russ in that situation, it kinda broke him, and it showed all season long. Russ lost confidence in his coach, and, by extension, in himself. Throw in the shoulder injury Russ says he was working through that year, and it all adds up to a bad season. The following year, Sean Payton was a nightmare. In order to get the job, he flat out lied about his strategy for working with Russ, that he would study tape and design an offense around what Russ does well. Instead, he did pretty much the opposite, which, as head coach, he had every right to. But it just wasn't what he said he was going to do. Not only that, no one talks about how Payton essentially lost that Christmas game vs the Patriots by calling those two late timeouts rather than just letting the clock run out. Obviously, anything could happen in OT, but had Payton not basically handed the game to Belichick, I'll take Russ, who had just engineered two 4th quarter TDs and 2 pt conversions, over Zappe and crew... Every. Single. Time. If the Broncos win that game, they are still very much in the playoff hunt, with two opponents remaining that they would likely beat, the Raiders and Chargers. If they win both, they're in. And the rub is that Payton then had the nerve to soft-blame Russ for the loss by benching him (although we all know what the real reason was by this point). In spite of all that, Russ still managed a decent year. Yes he held on to the ball too long, took way too many sacks, and was the checkdown king, but none of that would have mattered had the Broncos managed to get to the playoffs, which Sean Payton all but guaranteed wouldn't happen by making that costly 4th quarter Christmas blunder. So yeah, while Wilson's certainly not as athletic as he used to be, and his endless attempts at branding can become a distraction, I do think he's gotten a bad rap in terms of people saying he can't play anymore. If there's 1:45 left in the game, I have no TO's, and I'm down by 4, I'd still take a healthy Russ over probably 75% of the QBs in the league right now.
All your points are valid.. but the comment about being the checkdown king, sometimes you do what the defense gives you... Looking at those games his last season in Denver, HC-Payton was calling those plays (trying to get Russ to be Drew Brees, when he is not)... Now he is on a team where the Coach and OC has confidence in him and allow him to do what he does best (catering the offense to his strengths).. you see the results.... (yes, its only two games but you get the picture... LOL)
We don't get to wait when you make speculative takes about Russ, why we gotta wait when he's proving you wrong? Just admit that he's showing you that you don't know ball
please look at other stats than tds and ints. it shows you didnt watch him play. 11 fumbles. 9 of which were crucial end of game situations. 46 sacks taken behind the 7th ranked line. hes also #1 in the last 50 years of completions behind the line of scrimmage. which inflated his completions. pff and espn had him 26th overall qb at end of last year. which shows his 28 tds to 6 ints means nothing when all the other qb metrics make you the 26th best

We're just gona forget all the reports around what was going on in the building and behind doors with him in Denver? 2 games just eliminates over 2 yrs over being horrible? 😂😂😂 yea ill see you in a few weeks when they're bck losing!
It wasn't a good fit. Simple as that. I will never root for the Broncos as long as that guy is coach. He embarrassed him, it was a personal attack. He never adjusted his system to fit the player. That's what a good coach does, not prance around like a crazy peacock!!!!
@murieljubar8672 Russ shouldn't of tried embarrassing Denver in yr 1 and should of been focused on football! Embarrassed him? It's a game of men who don't care about your feelings so move on! Are you a Denver fan? Prolly not so it doesn't matter to you the way he acted and thought he was just God's gift to Denver before Sean got there! He helped make Denver a complete laughing stock for a yr! Denver may not be very good at times but they're never that which they were when he 1st came! All the personal and private shit he thought he was owed, thought he was above and better than everyone and thought his voice was the only one that mattered! And then came out and played like shit! It's funny, I've never heard the excuse bad fit except for when talking about rookie QBs lol... if a QB is good enough and everyone acts like Russ is a hall of famer, then the fit should always be good! Your that dude right? Pitt has played 2 of the worse teams in the NFL with Russ at QB... we'll see what happens when they come up against someone who's actually good with a good Defense! Pitt will be asking for Justin by December and Tomlin is gona be fooled by the Giants game and mistakingly keep him in and they won't get anywhere! He'll take last weeks game, again against a shitty team, and think oh that guy is in there even when he's playing horrible! They'll keep him in even after he goes pumpkin hoping the good Russ will show back up and it won't! 2 weeks of bad competition has led to a bunch of false hope! So Bo Nix, a rookie that shouldn't of been picked in the 1st round, is better? Or a better fit? 😂😂😂

@@BossAJSyou didn’t watch the game because he should of had 3 more than wasn’t his fault. He only going to get better and no one can stop Pickens.
@@AndrewCore-k1s almost doesnt count lol. bo has 2 potentail tds dropped by his wrs. and one penalty that would have put them at the 1 yard line. but they didnt happen lol. you cant go back and bring up "almost" when talking qb awards
casuals dont realize that this current Steelers team is built similar to those Seahawks teams that Russ was on, goodDefense, decent RunGame, and EFFIECIENT QB-play from him.. Russ has never been a TomBrady 50TD a season type of QB but he would "cook" when needed to get the W (thats what makes him so special)... not saying the Steelers are a lock for the SB, but with Russ in there with the complete team he has around him, they are a serious contender... scary thing they look to get even better... other quick note: Steelers managed to at least get to playoffs every year with literally no QB, now they have one... IJS
Just gotta love this!!!
Haha Russ has looked awesome!
@@JWLSports ohh yea he did. This was an obvious choice. Hard to believe that anyone could think different
LOL)
You’re all ears, Nick’s all noses. He could hide behind that thing as a defense from predators.
You guys does not like Russell👎🏾
We don't get to wait when you make speculative takes about Russ, why we gotta wait when he's proving you wrong? Just admit that he's showing you that you don't know ball
How was he horrible last year? 20tds 8 ints... look up Lamar's record against Pittsburgh
26*
please look at other stats than tds and ints. it shows you didnt watch him play.
29 since we now count rushing TDs by QBs. Or do we just count them for Fields to make his number appear better? 🤔
The goal-post moving by these Russ-haters is incredible.. At first it was, "Steelers will be horrible if he starts", now its "the teams he played are bad"... like which goal post are you using?? Make up your minds.. you bums..😅
Russ was bad his first year in Denver but he was playing hurt and his coach was ass in Hackett
Russ second season with Denver was good he was playing with a coach trying to sabotage and turn him to a different QB instead of playing to his strength
They are live at the Dodgers stadium? That seems weird.
Yankees stadium!
@ ohh lol
It was funny to watch them talk baseball.
@ yea I bet

Need to change this dudes name to Nick Wrong 😅
Why do these guys try so hard to prove they were right or wrong? Who gives a fuck! Just keep it football! That’s why we watch! Not to see what these guys think or predictions! I would never bet my money on something they say!
Sorry, I was off topic/see below.
Nick talks out of both sides of his mouth. The good numbers don't matter because they're not real. The bad numbers matter because he sucks ... Blah blah blah
Nick Wright is a clown. Russ was not horrible last year. Russ played well last year yet better numbers than Patrick Mahomes, but you’ll never get Nick to admit that just like Nick won’t admit that Russ is own the Chiefs for most of his career because he’s a homer and he act as if Patrick Mahomes is Godwhy even worry about when Nick Wright says he’s an idiot just takes a trash when it comes to certain things in sports
I’m not impressed on a win over a 2 and 6 giants team that they beat by only 8 points and giants actually had two chances to come back and win it. Let’s see what happens against actually elite teams lol
HE BEAT TWO BAD TEAMS STOP IT 🤦🙅🤷😭😢😅🤣😂 YOU Y'ALL THEM THEY ARE ACTING LIKE HE BEAT TWO PLAYOFF TEAMS. I CAN'T MAKE THIS 💩 UP LLAB
Ok, and the Ravens lost to the Browns so what’s your point??
Steelers are 6-2 and Russ has opened the passing game and with the Steelers great defense, your delusional if you don’t think they can take on any AFC top team on any given Sunday.
Shots a Sean Peyton for what? Denver is doing better without him! So Sean nor anyone in Denver owes him anything! I don't recall Russ apologizing for coming into Denver the 1st yr and acting just like the total diva Seattle said he was!
