I read this book many years ago, I was way younger and I was raised with a very anti-high church (Constantine destroyed the church until Luther came around) view
Thanks for reminding me this exists, I will give it another read, it should be refreshing now that I’ve just finished reading Justin Martyr’s Apologias and Trypho, along with Ignatius’s letters

I love that one. Do you have his Josephus? It combines Anqiuities and Wars and cuts out a lot of passages to make it more readable. I think his version of Josephus is a great way to quickly study up on what happens between the testaments (since Maccabees only gives a small portion of that history).

I don't have it, and the abridgement is actually why I chose a reprinted Whiston edition over his; I wanted the whole text. I genuinely hate abridgement lmao. But otherwise Im sure Maier did well in translation and editing.

I actually got this book to follow along with Brandt Pitres video about the brothers of Jesus. There is a quote in this book that in parenthesis tries to lead the believer to a different conclusion as Brandt Pitre. So i can see that this isn't a Catholic translator but it is a cool book. I enjoyed learning more about Herod and how he burned down all the Jewish Lineages to hide the fact that he had no royal bloodline.

    WHY DOES EUSEBIUS
refer to the LAW AND SABBATH as just some MYSTICAL LAW
then CHANGE TO SUNDAY to suit themselves and the current political issues of the time
EUSIBIUS thought he could fix the world himself
we love to QUOTE THE DAVINITY OF JESUS

"Quotations of primary sources" You mean like for example, the letters between Jesus and King Abgar the Fifth (that Eusebius likely created himself, Joseph Smith style)? The Eusebius of whom St. Jerome said, “Eusebius is the most open champion of the Arian heresy,”" and not only that, St. Jerome says that Eusebius lies about other things as well? A list of Eusebius's lies are:
    1) Lie about martyrs alive after eaten
    2) Lies about the fiery cross
    3) Lies about the conversion of Constantine
    4) Lies about the Church prelates
    5) Lies about the Greek Sibyls
    6) Forges letters between Jesus and King Abgar V
    7) Angel-owl forgery
