- As pro-Palestine protests rage in universities across the United States of America, a New York Post report has claimed billionaire philanthropist George Soros’ links in fuelling mass agitation. “George Soros and his hard-left acolytes are paying agitators who are fuelling the explosion of radical anti-Israel protests at colleges across the country,” the report states. The report went on to claim that tent cities set up at colleges including Harvard, Yale, Berkeley in California, the Ohio State University and Emory in Georgia have been aided by Soros-funded organised branches of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). Notably, at some of these camps, clash broke out between police and protesters. Who is George Soros? A hedge fund manager turned philanthropist, 92-year-old Soros is major backer of liberal causes, according to Reuters. Last year, Billionaire investor had questioned ties between Gautam Adani and PM Modi. In one of his speeches, the Hungarian American businessman said that he wants “democratic revival” in India. Senior fellow at the Institute of Peace and Conflict Abhijit Iyer- Mitra had said that Soros wants that kind of a setup everywhere, where companies determine the future of country and not people. “It is one dollar, one vote not one person one vote, that is the system which suits him the best because then he can short-sell and make money out of those inefficiencies in the system,” Mitra said. India’s External Affairs Minister had once called George Soros, “Old, rich, opinionated and dangerous”. Watch this video to know more.
