I am from Delhi. I remember my mother buying Dalda Vanaspathi Ghee till 1960 only. At that time itself other brands mentioned were also available. Rath Vanaspathi which was being manufactured by Shriram Groups's Delhi Cloth Mills was available at a cheaper rate than Dalda along with Panghat, which was the cheapest vanaspathi brand available at that time. Like Delda, other Vanaspathi Ghee also died a natural death since mid 1990s till its revival only now.

We use dalda when we were small for sweet dish especially in diwali.. but after that we got to know about animal fat used in it and not good for our health we stop using it... But even today dalda is relevant in our society.. we use dalda for temple diva or Pooja diva.. and family donot like the taste of dalda. Because after sometime it's taste is very raval.. Now we used only desi ghee only.

Kuch toh hai Dalda khane wale log shyd aaj bhi jinda ho.. mere sasur ji jo 82 saal ke hai.. unne kitna dalda khaya hoga.. koi issue nahi hai unko, aur sab marketing strategy hai..
