Prescribed fires by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are carefully planned events conducted by a specially trained and skilled crew. From the burn boss to the grunt and the engine to the drip torch, see what and who it takes to safely put on a prescribed fire.

So exciting! Such a great tool! I am glad I am a Texas Master Naturalist and get to volunteer and learn about these events!

In Alabama it can be one of two common mixes. 4 parts diesel/1 part water OR 4 parts diesel / 1 part gasoline (if you want it a little hotter).

I'd sure be pleasant if at least someone mentioned any BIT of fire ecology.
Yeah, the Earth has varied in temperatures "for 1000s of years" but we know exactly by how much from ice cores, deep sea cores, and the average for the specific period. Even the weather of particular days, of over eight hundred thousand of years ago. That could come from a glacial ice bubble, and/or a tree buried deep under ground.
The frequency of naturally historic burns should be compared towards the annual approach, and more studies should encourage innovation in fire fighting.
They must INCLUDE estimated models of increased frequency of naturally spurred wildfires due to climate change(global warming) by four fold.
Fire fighters are "controlling" but the smoke should be a serious consideration, as we are sitting high at 402ppm in the atmosphere. We only have one atmosphere. We are saturating in carbon.
If firefighters cannot come up with innovative plans, I cannot see much change coming from veterans doing the same thing year after year. That smoke doesnt just disappear, it floats into the neighboring city.
