Jay was my friend. He played in Salina Kansas and I always had him and his band with Paul and Claude over to my house for dinner. I loved these guys! They are national treasures that I will honor for all time! I can only say I was blessed to meet such wonderful musicians! I love them for ever!
My musical family, Everett Freeman on piano; Bobby Watson, alto sax; Lisa Henry, vocals; Mike Warner, drums; and Tyrone Clark on bass. "Nice Work If You Can Get It!!"
Great work, but where are Mary Lou Williams, Pete Johnson- many others? You can’t tell everyone’s story, but more names for people to learn about could have been included.
