  • Puts an extra bearing where its needed most, on the spindle giving the reel a 3rd spindle bearing. The line out alarm is not affected and this is such an easy conversion to do!

    it looks like you remove the level wind from your reels. why is that? just curious

    whats the difference between these older 5500c and 5000c? does the "c" matter? thx

    • @PimpMyReel
      @PimpMyReel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      C is the model, in this case the base model. The older 5000 c tens to have spool and spindle all in one with the bearings in the float chambers and the newer 5500c has a floating spool with separate spindle and inboard bearings inside the spool

    I enjoy your videos...thanks for making and sharing. What is a "brass speed bullet that has been very carefully prepared"? It looks like you replaced a brass "bush" with a another brass bushing? But you never put in a bearing? Then you show us the added bearing? Methinks you skipped some footage. I think you missed the part where you add a bearing. I gather the carefully prepared bushing is smaller and allows for a bearing to be added? And what are the advantages of the PMR speed release crown screws? Cheers, CR

      I believe the step on the bearing installation was inadvertently left out. Looks like he's taken out the standard brass bushing and specially milled out a bushing in which the added bearing sits inside of via its race on the inside rim of the milled bushing. That leaves that little piece of protruding plastic on the end of the spindle/clicker cog wheel to rotate against the bearing, eliminating the friction from where it used to rub on the standard brass bushing. He also makes some sweet titanium bushings and shims. I need a couple of these kits myself to upgrade some of my Pro Rockets!

      I thought just the spool rotated on these?

    • @CROWOUTDOORS
      @CROWOUTDOORS 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The cog wheel assembly is snapped on to the end of the spool and rotates too. That's where you get the friction from - the end of that little plastic sprocket rubbing on the brass bushing during a cast.

      @mwoods614 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thank-you! it's all starting to fall in place now. Could you just trim the end of the sprocket?

    Will this solution not create friction between the spindle and the inner ring of the bearing?

    Is there any spool side to side play after upgrading to this, any problems actually fishing it?

    • @PimpMyReel
      @PimpMyReel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a float chamber bearing kit i e it's in the float chamber so you can set the float of the spool to whatever you want just the same as you would have done with the original brass Bush. The difference is with the float chamber bearing kit the brass brush is swapped for a smaller custom bush and bearing giving you 30% more distance because of 30% less friction.

      @@PimpMyReel Ok, was just thinking there could be some possible excessive side pressure on the bearing since you need some pressure on the left side of the spool to keep the spool engaged to the pinion when reeling and was thinking it could possibly damage the bearing or make it come apart if there was to much side load when trying to reel in a bigger fish or just putting on alot of drag in general, I've been thinking about this all night, wondering if a tiny tapper roller bearing or angular contact bearing could negate this possible issue? Would like to hear your input, I could be totally wrong😂

    • @PimpMyReel
      @PimpMyReel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jonesboy2398 I normally set this type of mod up with the spool having just a tiny amount of lateral play. There will be no damage to the bearing or pinoin gear while playing a big fish. you can even put a hybrid bearing in for more performance if you do the same with the spool bearings

      @@PimpMyReel Yeah I'm running abec 7 ceramic spool bearings currently and just swapped in the ball bearing level wind into my rocket, I live in the us so wondering what kind of shipping price it would be for just that little brass bush and the bearing, do you sell different bearings for your kit? Would like abec 7 or 9 ceramic just to match my spool bearings, what are the bearing dimentions btw?

    Seems to me that the deeper hole in the speed bullet is too big,(deep) which does not allow the brakes to not operate. Sometimes it won't stay engaged and doesn't reel in at all

    • @PimpMyReel
      @PimpMyReel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Three different problems. First does not essentially matter because the bearing is holding the spindle in place, makes no difference to the brakes as spindle is held in place by the float caps and shims and the main drive is on the other side of the spool where your third problem is!!! Damm man do your homework before your hit the keyboard....

      @@PimpMyReel 1st this was homework, 2nd I found my bushing was too small, about an 1/8 of an inch. Giving spindle too much play. Float cap wasn't holding anything. Thanks anyway

      @PimpMyReel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@garysample1980 Brash bush is nothing more than a spacer if you have the PMR bearing mod. The bearing holds the spindle in place as i said before. if you don't have a bearing mod then you have a brass bush for a competition spindle. This has a 4mm hole instead of 3mm
      If the float cap is not controlling the float you are missing shims that should be inside. There's your homework!
