I don’t think trying to do the rhythm and lead together here works, I know that’s your thing, but I’m afraid I have to be “the emperor has no clothes” here, you’re choking the groove and open air in the song by trying to mash the lead and rhythm together on one guitar

I kinda agree - but Prince was a master of combining lead and rhythm, so I guess Andy is paying homage to that (?).
