I loved this performance. I think you can tell they've been singing together a long time since their first duet was 4 years ago. Their chemistry (both personal and vocally) is evident.

of course! shawn himself has talked about (in one of his q&as) how when he first got into the studio making music and learning different instruments, he'd told someone he liked her (not very clear on that, maybe her singing or personality) and they brought her in so they could write and sing together, which resulted in I Know What You Did Last Summer i'm guessing. he went on to say that they were really good at writing and singing together, like they had a special something between them, and so they became very close (and probably sang together a lot, even if it wasn't for any particular collaboration). i guess it's natural that their chemistry has led to yet another well produced collaboration and a blossoming relationship!

The chemistry was so great because they’re actually a couple now after being best friends for five years. A songwriter on the song also said their voices were meant to sing together because of how well they compliment each other. Can you also do a reaction video to Camila’s best live vocals.❤️❤️❤️

They're singing this whole song one semi-tone lower than the original, which I think is really smart for live performances. They don't risk sounding too pitchy, and they can better control their breath. One semi-tone can make a giant difference! Now I don't feel bad about lowering the original key the same way to cover this song LOL

This was such a great reaction. I really enjoyed it. I've never seen either of you guys before, but I'm a fan of Camila's voice and reactions in general, so I decided to check this video out and was not disappointed. You both seem really kind and it was one of the most informative reactions I've seen, in just the best way. I'll definitely be back to watch you both again. Thanks!
p.s. You may want to correct the spelling on Camila's name in your title in case it makes it easier for others to find. She just has one "l" in her first name - Camila Cabello.

    Their performance was really captivating.
I would love if you both do Camila’s Consequences performance at the American Music Award! I’m curious about both your input on her vocals there. You can find the video on her channel if you end up going it.

I think you should react to Camilla cabello's SNL performances she did recently. They were really good and showed of how good she is at not only singing and dancing at the same time, but also her great facial expressions and how she shows emotion as she sings.

Loved your space background, Marc! I’m so happy you defined compression, I thought it meant something different (I thought it was more to do with having too little acoustic space in the throat/mouth). Loved both of your technical analyses of this performance, thank you! 🌟

They are both either in love or VERY good actors. However, it is a nice Little romantic catchy song. I ask myself how would such Kind of a song lool like, if DIMASH sings it, lol. Probably, some People will faint and have to be carried out on a stretcher. But this couple too very good

Saya Right?! With a muscle Shirt on like in the boxing scene of „Phantacity“ he proved that he is not such bad actor there. But I think this is not his style. Unfortunately. Doesn’t fit in his moral standards in general I think.

I’m like a minute in and you guys are already wrong AF. She’s using the jaw movement to tune the timbre - it’s not gonna sound good without it. Techniques are specific to actual sounds. Why do you “teachers” always insist on making these reductive and prescriptive statements? Oooops and now you’re talking about “health” instead of specific coordinations getting specific sounds.
Five thumbs down! Demonstrate what you mean and everyone will see you’re clueless! Neither of you can do what she’s doing - you’re instead recommend she should do things you can do. But WHY sound like either of you when you sound like her!
Also, for opera, open pharynx is a MYTH that was popularized by a freaking Vaudeville singer. Look at an MRI and check your damn premises guys! Open pharynx does NOT make more resonance because it’s not an empty room with waves bouncing - it’s an open tube that works by constraining the waves, which DO NOT FIT in the vocal tract. The physics you imply are not from OUR universe. WHY do you guys base your entire practice on bullshitting the audience?

Chill... they are two of the most respected teacher on TH-cam. One is an Opera stage director / Opera singer, the other is a great Musical Theater performer. If you go to Sam Johnson Channel he has entire videos about him showing how great of a singer he is.

    • @DrMarcReynolds
      @DrMarcReynolds  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I would usually delete a comment like this. Not because you disagree with what we are saying, I welcome that, but because of your abusive language. In this case some of our viewers already commented on what you said and I want to value the effort they put into responding. Because I am leaving it up though I should probably respond.
First, if you do have a far superior understanding of how the voice works to what we are sharing here why would you do anything but share that instead of bashing two voice teachers, who if you listen to the video, make it very clear that we don't think of ourselves as anything more than voice teachers who try to help people sing easier and reach their goals. I'm always baffled when someone gets online and talks to a complete stranger with such violence and rudeness. It just isn't productive.
Second, we don't want anyone to sound like us. We want them to make the most efficient and easiest sounds they can make that fit the style they are wanting to sing so they can sound like themselves and enjoy singing. I have been teaching voice for over a decade to a wide range of students. Not that doing so makes me a great teacher but it does mean I have had a lot of time to see what works and what doesn't in the studio. It has also meant that I have spent a lot of time reading and researching ways to better help my students beyond the formal training I spent years to get. What I am doing here in these videos is letting the public see through my eyes for a bit in the hope that will help them enjoy singing that much more.
Third, I don't understand why people think that being a good singer and being a good teacher have anything to do with the other. They are totally different skills. Some of the best teachers I have seen get the most amazing result from their students were not the best singers I have ever heard. Some of the worst teachers I have ever seen work are singers that have had the most amazing careers. Teachers need to have experience with singing and need to constantly be practicing what they teach but really where they have honed their abilities is in the skill of helping others sing well. I don't want to be a performer. I had that chance and I didn't want to take it. It looked like a miserable life to me. Teaching on the other hand brings me tremendous joy and fulfillment.
In the future, instead of waisting your time trolling I would request that if you think you have more knowledge and better information that you engage in the discussion by trying to share what will help people and not just bashing on two guys who are trying to give for free what took us many years and a lot of money, blood, sweat, and tears to get. Neither of us pretend or suggest that we know everything and I always love to learn something new. We have both seen students walking away from our studios singing easier, happier with their own sound, and more excited to sing in public. If you really do care then help us to continue this.
