- l installed a 2nd solar exhaust fan to my shed. These small 4" fans do a great job to push out the hot air that builds up in my shed during the hot days. This is a very easy project and I recommend the solar fans that I bought from Amazon.

You'd be surprised how difficult a video like this is to find. Thank you for documenting and your creativity is impressive!
The notch was an excellent idea!

I live in houston and it gets really hot here. This is exactly what i needed for the dog house

Thank you Rico!! This is exactly what I've been looking for, and your instructions are so clear and easy to understand!
Hi Cindy!! Thank u for taking the time to comment!! Much appreciated! Hope u have a great day!! Rico
@@ricohernandez2394 Just wondering if you know off hand is this a good option for a shed that is going to be insulated? Is it enough to help keep out moisture?
I just finished assembly of my Costco lifetime plastic 8X12 shed and couldn't believe how much hotter it get compared to my older wood built shed with standard comp. Shingles. The new shed has two 7-1/2" gabble vents which helps but I added 4 screened 5x12" vents around the bottom of the walls hoping to draw in some cooler air, it helped but I placed to digital thermometers in the shed yesterday, one at bench height and one in the rafter area. At high noon it was around a 82 deg. day and the readings inside the shed were 101 on the bench and 114 deg. On the rafter thermometer which was around 10 deg. Cooler than the prior day with no intake air vents at the bottom of the walls. I to was going to come up with a solar panel , temperature switch, and a small 8" 12 volt fan, but all the parts alone would of ran around $250 . I'm glad I ran across your video, I think one or 2 of those fans should help when summer rolls around and brings those 110 deg. days to. Your an awesome dude for posting on TH-cam. We need more guys like Rico in our neighborhood. :)
Hi Ain'tright! Thanks for the awsome comment! The fans work well and I love going in to my shed to see them spinning at max speed! Hope you have a blessed day! Rico
What a nice clean and tidy installation!
YOU ARE the goat! im building a studio and its in a 12x10 shed, i couldnt seem to figure out what i can do to help get rid of that hot air and u sir answered my question!
This video is genuinely super useful and fixes my problem exactly as as i have it

😀
Hi Olivea! thanks you so much for watching my video!! Much appreciated... I hope you have a great day!! Rico
Tool cool. Thanks, I'll be doing the same but adding an on & off switch.
You do fantastic work
Did you add another dryer vent lower in the middle of shed to pull fresh air in ? You just need a vent and no fan the 2 you have will pull fresh air in.
Very nice tutorial. Thanks for sharing

hi Patrick... appreciate the comment! Have a great day!

As u have made it its a nice idea but if we want to connect 2× 3.7v batteries then is it the same or have to some changes
perfect solution for me!
Wondering if this would help with the condensation problem these sheds can have in the cooler UK
Thanks for the video.
Hey Sven!
Thx for taking the time to comment! I appreciate you!
Hope you have a great day!

Love the video. Thanks for posting. I saw you mention another post that you were going to do a follow-up video. How did it affect the temps up there? Thinking about doing this in my gambrel shed.
How about a follow-up? I cant imagine two little computer fans have very much effect on the heat inside a shed. I just finished my shed and it gets pretty stinking hot in there.
Hello there. I live in Turkey. and i want to get that. Is it that simple to install? is there a breakdown? is there an update video?
That's Awesome!!
Hi there, thanks for your video, I got a question for you please I hope you can help me. I want to do this but for my little house but with no attic access, there is no way to go into my attic, my attic is a small and closed area only for wires, and it so hot, that's why I need to reduce heat there, maybe do you have any tip or suggestion how can I build all this but from outside my house? I really appreciate your help. Greetings
I would have done the notch up top to route the wire up top for a cleaner look.
Hey E85STI! Thanks for taking the time to comment. That’s a great idea! Have a great day!
Rico
@@ricohernandez2394 I’m about to order the solar panel with two and I like your shed but mine is just a plastic shed.
@@E85_STI good luck with your install! Rico
@@ricohernandez2394 thank you for that and I work in HVAC so I’m going to make something to cool it even further if I need to but for now ventilation is good but the CFM vs the square footage I opted with a two fan setup vs just one.
Thanks!
Hi Donna! Thanks for taking the time out of your day to comment! Have a nice day!!

Hi,I have a shed with no windows only a door but even with the door open theres no air flow inside just hot air all the time. Can I install one of these to push hot air out and one to pull cool air in? Would that work since there no windows? Also what would the difference be bwtween these electric exhaust vents and gable vents that I see majority use in their sheds? Thanks!
Very helpful thank you
I have a metal shed I put a vent on each end but no fans. I have an issue with mildew collecting in the shed and it gets extremely cold and hot in there here in GA. Do you think some fans added to the vents would help after I get it all cleaned up?
Would it be possible to connect 2 panels to the same fan for better performance on less sunny days?
Hi William, thank you so much for taking the time to ask a question. I am unsure if you can connect two of the solar panels together!
Hope u have a great day! Rico
If you live anywhere where it gets hot enough to allow the batteries area to get hotter than 80F You Need to install a MiniSplit or at lease a small inverter air conditioner.
This is genius
How much air flow did you get after you installed the vent cover? I’m curious since the cover’s not designed to go with the fan.
Hi! Thanks for the tutorial! I am trying to mount a solar panel on the side of my house, what mounting bracket did you use to screw to the shed before you screwed the aluminum one you made?
Hi Sasha ..thank you so much for taking the time to send me a question. This kit did not come with any type of mounting brackets, that is why I made one. I guess you could just screw it someplace on your roof if that solves the problem. But I had to make my own brackets. Hope this answers your question.

Big thumbs up Rico!!! This was on point for what I needed. I'm converting my 12" x 12" wooden shed into housing for a few quail and rabbits. Is one exhaust fan on each wall overkill? What do you recommend for lower intake vents? Again big thumbs up!!!
Hi! Thanks for the question. Is one one each wall over kill? Perhaps...but i didnt think it would hurt. My shed has vents in the soffits. they are just vent screens that i bought at the local hardware store. Hope you have a blessed day!
Rico
It’s been 2 years how’s the fan?
@@solairegun4667 hey! Appreciate you sending me a question! Both fans are still working amazingly well I have never had a problem with them to date! I might make a video with an update to let people know! I hope you have a great day Rico
Has anyone tried adding a switch so they are not running constantly? I wanted to put one/two in my wood work shed for summer, but don't want to vent the warm air in the winter months. Mostly for summer use here in hot Texas. Also ... what about wind/storms effecting the bracket you made? Thoughts appreciated !
It may be a pain.. but he does plug and unplug.. so if you can get to it just unplug it
My guess would be it would just be as simple as cutting off the clips where the fan and panel meet and wiring in a switch
I wonder if it would help to have a vent fan pushing air out on the side where the sun is, then have another fan pulling air in on the shady side. Maybe the shaded side fan can be lower towards the ground too.
Ty sir
You are the best for commenting!! Have a wonderful day!!!
@@ricohernandez2394 uw are so welcome have a great day 🙏
Would it okay to have one fan bringing air in and the other sucking air out? I am installing something similar in my chicken coop and wanted to know the best possible set up. Or would it be better for both fans to pull air out?
Hi Shady!
Thanks for watching and then taking the time to send a question. I think it would be counter productive to pull in hot air only to then vent it out.
My shed has soffit vents on both sides that allow outside air to enter the the shed at the lowest point and rise to the highest point , my fans are at the highest point of my shed...thus blowing out and venting hot air at the highest point. If you dont have soffits vents..i would add them to your current structure.
Hope this helps...
Rico
@@ricohernandez2394 I think you’re right, I’ll have both taking air out
Have you noticed a change in the shed temperature since installing the fans?
Hi Stan, thank you for taking the time to ask a question. I have noticed a change in temperature in the shed. I am going to run some temperature tests in the next week or so. I will post when I do. Have a great day Rico
Please send me a link for the solar fan from Amazon

Thank you so very much
wouldn't it be better to have the fan blowing air in instead of out??
Wondering same thing.
No, it's exhaust fan to remove heat and more importantly, humidity to prevent mold
Where to buy?
How long do you expect the fans to last before burning out?
Hi Eefin,
Thanks you for taking the time to ask the question. I installed the first fan in October, 2021 and it is still running great. I will have to wait to see how long they last, since this is the first time I am using these fans. Ill report in a year for an update....but I think these will last a while, but only time will tell!
Have a great day!!
Rico
Super cheap to replace... basically just computer fans. You can get them for next to nothing for a bundle of them
My shed fan is run by wind power!
