  • A quick (emphasis on quick) ride in Adam's 240z with a brand new Rebello stroked motor under hood. This car will soon be a part of Classic Car Club Manhattan's impressive fleet.

    Awesome Datsun! Got a '75 280z myself. Thank you for posting what is probably the only video on TH-cam of a Rebello engine that includes driving, and not just a 30 second startup vid.

    This is a very easy video to fap to.
    I have owned a 71 240Z since 1976 and will NEVER sell it. Completely stock original.
    Hope to get a couple more and do restomods on them.
    Great video! Wish I could drive your Z with that Rebello.
    I am sure you are familiar with the 1970 240Z "Green Monster" Rebello race car.
    My absolute favorite Z on TH-cam.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks for the Vid. I am contemplating the 3.0L right now. There are no real good vids out there of the setup I will have. 3.0L with Triple Mikuni PHH44. I hope to make 220WHP or more. We shall see.

    it sounds realy good but how much it cost to build a 3.0L by rebello racing for a 240z??

    • @christopheragostinelli5432
      @christopheragostinelli5432 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most people I have talked to said right around $5k for the 3.0 crate engine, but after its all said and done with supporting mods, youll probably be close to 8-10k, if you do it right

    • @MindDezign

      They are not cheap. Most people woukd be very happy with a rebuikt stock motor with stage one head work and carbs either the twin 240Z , even on a L28 , hitachis or 40mm triple side drafts, even on a L28. .Makes the engine work alittle harder ( not a bad thing on the street.)
      Alot of people use 45mm but thats too much for street driving gets you a BIG bogg when you give it gas.
      Thats where the 40mm are very usefull no bog and useful low/ mid range pulling the Z is so good at.

      Check out James Stephens' car. SUPER nice build. I saw it in 2021 at JCCS. 560+ hp. Legit. Tuned at Z Car Garage. Rob's crew there pushed it until the head gasket was pushing out. But he is seeking more even though he spins the tires in 4th gear! You're gonna love it.

      @@jbh1126 anything you would have done differently?
      More specs what diff gearing ? What gear box?
      What ignition?
      How is it in traffic?

    • @adammiller5836
      @adammiller5836 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Car runs great, still in love with the stroker, only need to clean/replace spark plugs every 1k miles to keep running smooth, but thats also from starting and running for short periods of time frequently to move it around.
      In that video it was running the stock 4 Spd, which didn't have enough gearing for highway cruising, replaced with a 5spd from a 280zx w/stock clutch and wish I had done that sooner. Running MSD ignition, triple 48 webers, Diff is a r200. Totally fine in traffic. KYB 5 ways and eibach springs, adjustable rear lower control arms, rear strut brace.
      Only thing I regret doing is poly bushings on the whole car, too stiff for just street driving.

    • @MindDezign
      @MindDezign 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adammiller5836 well its a common mistake.Think thats bad think about the guys that picked heim joint racing suspension.
      The best thing to do is run softer shock settings.
      The next thing is urethane ussualy splits after a while. The best place to put urethane is the steering rack.
      A new rubber steering colum block not urethan or any thing harder so you dont get beat up steering.
      The radius rod in the front should
      have a rubber bushing in the front and a urethane in the back. To give SOME give...not to pound the frame.
      The rear suspension should run stock rubber bushings, as when you replaced them they were 40 year old bushings. So stock rubber is very good ride.Remember in the 70s japans rubber was more "natural ingredients" today's rubber is more non natural based.
      Its a great riding car if you dont over do the stiffening. Lowering it less then stock, already improves ride and handling over stock.
      But everybody goes racing mode.
      Then don't want to drive it as much, which is VERY silly. Its designed to be an every day sports car.
      Just lowering the suspension better shocks and springs.
      Softer settings in shocks .
      And sprinkle urethane bushings.
      The sway bars should have urethane mounts and rubber end links.

    Man I would love to have a stroker in my z,I have built l28 with everything you can possibly do to it,but it's no comparison to a stroker

    • @MindDezign
      @MindDezign 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Shaun McInnis it is a stroker.Its a 240 Z bored out to 260 then stroked to a 280. Its an actual factory bored and stroked motor.
      Now if you have factory low compression pistons , some l28 have them and your running fuel injection the old original system
      May want to get flat top pistons.
      And either back date to 240Z carb and manifold set up. Or up grade to an EZ fuel injection that removes alot of the old injection parts and wiring harness.
      But if you eant to feel like you have put twice the power in a light weight Z car. Get a set of summer extreme tires and that will be an instant smike on your face for not that much money.
      Its June 20, 2018 you may no longer have your Z. ( but Im hoping so)
