  • iRacing’s Fanatec GT Challenge has been to many venues across the virtual globe already. Next up on the calendar is another famous racetrack that resides in Austria. Moving on to Week 7, if you’re driving the new Porsche 911 GT3 R in this series, you’ll be taking on the latest course that was released alongside it in the 2021 Season 3 build, the Red Bull Ring.
Originally the Österreichring, it’s been known as the Red Bull Ring since 2011. The current Grand Prix layout has been used since 2016, a 4.318-kilometer or 2.683-mile, 10-turn facility with high speeds, sharp corners at some points and winding corners elsewhere. This venue currently hosts Formula 1 and MotoGP, having also run DTM events in the past.
As it’s become our Monday tradition, we’ve got Dave Cam back for another track guide for this new car on this new track. At first glance, the course doesn’t look too difficult, but looks can be deceiving. A slow, methodical approach is the best medicine here if you want to learn how to get around this circuit consistently.
How wide should you take the apex? How far should you track out of the corner exit? What about pit entry and exit? Dave’s got you sorted on that and more in this week’s guide. Be sure to drop a like if you gained any time, and check out the other track guides over at Traxion.GG.

Hadnt driven in a proper simulator until recently going to an event with a Porsche competition on this exact car and track. Your video allowed me to win one of the daily competitions and received a £120 backpack. Thanks for this great vid! Couldn't have done it without you :)

An excellent track guide young Dave.
I'm hoping to get back to some racing this week if I can.
Depends on the Mrs really as she's keeping me busy with jobs round the house.

Great video Dave! Hope to trade some paint with you soon! You definitely have got some more pace there! I was watching the car move around in the braking zones and I believe in you! Go get em!

Hey Dave, I was doing a Top Split VRS race here and the Pit Entry did catch me out. I was battling in top 10 with a guy 4 tenths behind, had to carry a bit too much speed before coming into the pits and when I went over the red, I got a 40s hold for Unsafe pit entry, so be weary there. I definitely had 4 tires over the white, but didn't touch the grass or anything. Maybe you just have to have have at least 2 tires under the white line to be considered Safe. Extremely difficult in close racing. Guess I should have let the guy behind go before going through the corner into pits.

Ah maybe. Entering the way I did didn't get a penalty. Fine margins 😳

You don’t say why you don’t use the green astroturfing on approach to T3 and T8 is there a reason? Surely it makes sense to open it up as much as possible?

I’m having trouble breaking 1:32.1 in the Porsche. T1, T2, T3 I feel like I can shave off some more time in the Red Bull Canada Qualifier. I just can’t seem to piece together the lap.

Hi Dave, great videos. I see you have triple monitors. How do you get overlays to work with triple monitors? I would like to have the sim lab brake and throttle overlays on my triple monitors. Sorry for going off topic.

Great video again Dave! Really good for me to learn how to find breaking zones! Oh and btw the Red Bull ring has 10 turns not 9 😉
