- Railroad diamond interlockings and Amtrak trains! Awesome railroad crossings with Amtrak in Tampa Florida and Plant City Florida. Florida trains and Florida at grade level railroad crossings. Millenniumforce and I were chasing trains in central Florida. This video only includes the Amtrak trains that we caught the week of February 5, 2019 to February 12, 2019. I flew to Tampa and stayed at Alans home so I didn't have to rent a car or motel. I got a great deal on airline tickets from Frontier Airlines and the most expensive part of the trip was just leaving my truck at the long term parking lot at the airport. Check out some of my videos of my trip as I post them including the airplane take off from Tampa. I chased trains with his crew and also attended the Gasparilla Night Parade in Ybor City. See that video if you like wild parades. TN Tower was demolished on 2-19-19, just 9 days after I filmed this! This is probably the very last video ever made of TN Tower. Thanks for watching! I would if the cell phone could do it. Its way too easy using the cell phone and smaller. I don't even use a tripod. I'm the only photographer who only uses a cell phone. lol

Very nice, as I have been to the Plant City viewing platform. Also, I have photographed the former tower near the Neve Wye, Tampa. Do you happen to know when it went out of service?

TNT went out of service in 1984 when Amtrak suspended Tampa - St. Petersburg service

When I was a kid in Boston, trains ran by my back yard. But we rarely waved. We kids would gather on a small, low bridge and spit on each car. The object being to run out of train before you ran out of spit. Freight trains left us dehydrated.
My Grandfather was a conductor on the B&M. So, you are the kids who were spitting on him! Now we know.

If you haven't tried watching trains from Lakeland, Florida, you should. You've got trains coming in either from Tampa to Miami and vice versa or Tampa to New York and vice versa.

They turn the whole train on a "wye" about 2 miles before they arrive at the station in Tampa. That way they back into the station and then when they leave they are facing forward. I filmed them turning on the wye about a year ago. Its pretty cool to watch because they have old signals, weedy track and a crossing right in the middle of the wye. Yes, there are freight moves on these tracks also. I filmed a work train and a couple local freights in Plant City that I will post next week. The longest train was the chase video that I posted a few days ago. We chased a couple trains at night but I probably wont use those videos since it was so dark. It was cool driving alongside the trains for miles while they were blowing for the crossings. Thanks for watching and have a great evening!
