I don't know if you see this but I want to say thank you so much for all you do and teach us. It has not only helped me be come a better fisherman but it has also made me a better teacher to my children and soon to my granddaughters.
Parabolic as in a parabola from math class back in highschool. Means when the rod loads it roughly follows the shape of a parabola. So the rod bends deeper into the blank/backbone than the tip.
Dude, I came here to get tips on the chatter bait, as I went out and bought some zman chatters, and some zman soft plastics(as your my favorite person to watch fish) and then your drop the toliet paper line and look at the camera 🤣🤣🤣. Keep slaying them man
Man he seems down to earth and a fun guy to hang out with, even with the success hes had he still seems humble..I have thrown the chatterbait for years but always good to hear a informative video from a great pro
Hey Brian, thanks for all your down to earth info on your styles. Im sure you are not just bringing your game, but a full history of family fishing! Keep it real and throw whats good!
Thank you so much. The way you went down the lineup of rods made it click for me. From faster sevens to slower fives you talked about reel speeds like golf clubs. Just found this channel and one of the best explanations I’ve found by far!
Very good video! I use a 3/8 green pumpkin chatterbait with a Delta green pumpkin Z-man TRD craw, really small but powerful presentation for smallmouth bass fishing.
The term “parabolic” is used to describe an even, distributed u-shape bend whereas; other rods with an uneven flex like rods with a stinger tip ( that are the 1st or 2nd guides) that has the most flex but less flex in the middle of the rod shaft. The term is most descriptive and visual.
Ned rig set up!! Your rod/bait advice has changed my game 10 fold. I can not figure out a Ned rig set up to save my life. Thanks for the great videos!!!
Thank B! I stocked up on a few Z-Man baits and....7 new Z-Man Chatterbaits (Custom, Elite, Minimax and Jackhammer), PLUS, a Strike King Thundercricket! Caught a LMB 2 weeks ago 3/8 oz Hodgeknocker with a 3" Paddlerz in the color "the Deal".
Totally agree about not filling the spool all the way up. There's no point. Also I change line so often that you just end up wasting half of the spool. I've also noticed that when you invest in the better brands of line, like Sunline Sniper for example, you get a lot less backlashes and even when you do, they're very easy to get out.
I love throwing a Chatterbait!! Its easily become one of my go-to baits. I typically use either a Rage Menace rigged vertically or a Zako. The only thing I don't like about the Zako is when a fish short strikes it and takes off the tail. I think im gonna have to pick up some Razor Shadz. Another great educational video!
Great advise B. Especially about the using less line to allow space for a backlash. I never thought about that. Also about using 6 to 1 ratio reel with the chatterbaits. I switched it up and it made a hushed difference with the depth it ran. Because you’re right, no matter how much you tell yourself you’ll reel it in slower, you’ll never do it haha. Thanks again, great advise. So. In. Fisherman.
Brown, black, white all I use, so on this green pumpkin chatterbait....I luv it!. Keep it rolling B Lat, crush them out there when you get back on the water!
Like how you did your garage for your fishing gear and both boats fitting easily. Only thing is the Mercury sign. 😆 JOHNSON. 😆 have a 150 on a ranger 18'9 has extended haul in the back its a nice boat goes 75mph in the water a FWC pulled me over and said there's a speed limit sign and I said really where not nasty just a honest question and he pointed and I caught up to him later and said you guys have to put a new one there because it's under water. He didnt write me up but just was letting us know. We were fishing in Loxahatchee everglades,Florida we always had fun there Okechobee we fished all over there north end west side Belle Glade ,Cleiston, Moore Heaven, the whole east side of the Lake Okechobee. All over. My dad and I were the founders of Weekend Bassers.
Great info b lat I would like to see your swim bait rod setup and maybe go into detail explaining the difference in z man baits compared to other soft plastics
You got me hooked on these last year and they are my go to bait. Love those chatterbaits. Your videos are just awesome, why you are my #1 go to for fishing videos.... Awesome
I like using the KISS principle also. Like you where I get complicated is on the trailer selection which for me is dictated by water color and species if bass I’m targeting.
Great video, again thanks the great advice. I have a Favorite 7'2 fast action . It's just doesn't seem to have the backbone of a medium heavy rod ... Love fishing a Chatter bait .. Got to learn to tie that Knot .. Thanks for the tips ... Keep'em coming ...
Good stuff BLAT I think the same way keep it simple with skirts and just add different trailers , I fish slot of night tourneys local so I use black blue an broke tail. However still love my spinnerbaits at night.
Always finding your information helpful in fishing question ❓ what baits you like fishing lake Murray SC lake Monticello SC and lake Wateree SC what would be your go to baits
@Brian Latimer Parabolic derives from the mathematical term Parabola. It can be graphed as a u. Hope this isn't dickish. You have given me so much advice and helped me become a great angler within a small amount of time.
parabolic action is a physics term meaning the rod bends like a parabola (or looks like a letter C) -- more moderate action rods where the backbone is lower on the blank and loads throughout the entire rod not just the top.
"Parabolic Curve" does come from Algebra. Most simply; it's a curve whose path upward to the peak, MIRRORS it's path downward from the peak. If the curve is distributed across the ENTIRE LENGTH of the rod, it is closer to being a true parabola. The faster the tip, then the less parabolic because the curvature finishes toward the tip section, not the full rod length. But, slower the tip, the closer it is to being parabolic because the peak of the arc is more toward the middle of the rod's full length. Therefore, we should stick to the terms that refer to rod actions (not to be confused with powers like light, med, heavy), we should use the terms: Fast, Moderate, Slow. So, instead of saying "more parabolic" we need to say the rod has a "slower" tip action than a (x-fast, fast or medium) or whatever you rod action you are compairting it to. Class dismissed. Yes, I teach math.
B.Lat i learn so much in theses 10 to 15 min videos its amazing. Have you thought about putting out a DVD type learning series or something like that ?
My man!!!! I got the same set up minus the real , I have a tatula tw sv.. and I agree with the lower gear ratio ... I use gambler lil’easy for a trailer and I love them.. thanks for staying active and posting good stuff bro, always like to see what the top guys are really tossing.. Wen this virus stuff is all over I’ll be rooting for ya man!!
I love chatterbaits I live up on the Susquehanna River do you think the blade colors make a big difference I'm just curious what you think it seems like the silver blades work the best thank you for any information I appreciate it
That's all I ever use. I only recently started using white, been using white purple combo, but black/blue, pumpkin. What are ur thoughts on mixing seed color in pumpkin? For ex, I use red pumpkin seed, but have considered trying orange.
I use a fiberglass rod medium heavy power fast Action rod don't want it to stiff for me. No graffit rod for me to stiff or carbon rods. I want the fish to grab the lure before I pull so I don't pull the hook out of the fishs mouth. I see people pull the Hooks out of the bass mouth before it grabs it. I'm old school and use OG chatter bait guy work great well I guess I'm cheep. But got 4 little ones that are not cheep 🤑 they lose most of my stuff in the blue.
Hay brian I have I 21ft ranger gas is cheap how much gas do you usually put in the tank to go chatterbait fishing ,???? do u fully charge the trolling motor batteries? I've gotta fish against Christian gecko tomorrow morning possibly. Well Brett hite helped us with these dang baits shout out to b hite..!!! Thanks for content I'm going stir crazy I think ..🎣🤯😳😷🤔😎🤯🎣🎣
BLat your gonna break a tooth on that flouro! Trust me I did it already. The dentist gave me a good chewing out, for biting that fishing line. Great vid, good info!
Hey B lat quick question. I’ve been fishing out of lake keowee the past year and a half and I was wondering if I should give Hartwell a try. Is it significantly better then keowee ?
Love your videos!!! Very simplistic and down to earth with gooood analogies. Hope you eventually win a Bassnaster tournament on the James River. A tip for winning the James. Start up at the very top of Gunns Run (as far as your boat will go)on the slack before the ebb and fish the deeper bends. When done head across to Powells Creek and do the same thing. Herring Creek is an excellent creek next door to the 2 I mentioned, but it gets a whole LOT of pressure. Does hold some big uns though!
Bennybass something about the channel being called Brian Latimer makes me for some dumb reason think he can call it bendy whips instead of parabolic to me... hmmm wonder where I get that idea from...🤷🏾♂️
@Bennybass I mean everyone hot the idea.... and I dont expect many people to know or remember parabolas. That's if you took calculus. And the last time a lot of people did was highschool.
I’m guessing that a parabolic rod is a rod that bends more, to the point that it looks like a parabola which Is a line that is determined by a algebraic function.
PARABOLIC CAME FROM PARABOLA -a plane curve generated by a point moving so that its distance from a fixed point is equal to its distance from a fixed line : the intersection of a right circular cone with a plane parallel to an element of the cone. All rods have this it just is more defined in certain rods in ie heavy rods has a short one and light one have a longer curve. Light rods are more forgiving than heavy rods but have rods provide a better Hookset. Therefore lighter line is preferable on lighter rods because you can use the rod more to fight the fish.
7ft 3inch st croix mojo glass rod absolutely wouldnt even think about another rod unless I was throwing a quarter oz chatterbait or micro then I will down size
Hi Brian! I love the content and I am a big fan, the word parabolic comes from the word “parabola”. It’s a math term that describes the shape of a line. Keep up the awesome work man!

Also the name of one kick ass Tool song...
@@520angling5a kick ass tool song indeed
This is the exact reason I bought a jackhammer, you explain this stuff so well, and within my first 10 cast I caught one of my biggest bass!!!
To be able to go back and watch these little bit older videos in specific topics is PRICELESS!!! B LAT these are sooooo helpful sir 👊
Man, the filling of the spool is so critical thanks for sharing. I skip a lot of docks and it really does make difference! Great information!!

I completely agree with a mechanical slowing of reeling..my dad "slows" his fast stuff but hes just the same all day and stubborn about it
Words to live by! Thanks B Lat.

bud that is an awesome tip about spooling the line. will be trying out for sure
Great job on the information on chatterbait setup you use.
Only very recently started to use a Chatterbait. First fish I caught with it was a 3-1/2lb Channelcat on a crawdad pattern.

I love chatter bait thanks for video!!!!
Awesome video sir thanks for the info
Great video man..would you say a chatterbait setup is very similar to a crankbait setup? Thanks.
Brian you need do a video on favorite rods good for different type fishing
Yes sir that’s what you just watched!

Am I the only one that realizes after three plus years your bait caster will start casting farther
Ordered 2 kits today...when they open up fishing here in Michigan I’m going to go out with one rod and see if I can make them do what they do;-)!!!
Can you please do rod, reel, line and color for wacky rig.

I got lost on the knot. Can you do a super close up in slow mo one day please. Love the vids man
Just search TH-cam for Gerald Swindle knots or the double shindo knot. You should be able to find it. Tight lines bud 🤙👊
thank you brian!
The only thing I got from razorshads was water resistance, but no feel, throbe, action.
Do you feel it is better or need to turn the boot tail upside down or run it toe down.
BLat your gonna break a tooth on that flouro! Trust me I did it already. The dentist gave me a good chewing out, for biting that fishing line. Great vid, good info!
We ain’t got the same teeth homie 😂
Great video and yes over on the toilet paper 😂👍👍
B lat I just have to ask, how does Lews honestly compare to Abu garcia?
1/2 oz Elite in Green Pumpkin and Craw colors r my Go two.
Hey B lat quick question. I’ve been fishing out of lake keowee the past year and a half and I was wondering if I should give Hartwell a try. Is it significantly better then keowee ?
Jackall revoltage 7ft med/heavy glass rod. Lightest glass rod out there
Awesome information! When will that chatter bait kit be restocked?

Great video, Brian. What do you call that knot?
My dude outstanding great fyi🎣👍🏿
Huge fan man keep up the good work! Stay healthy
Thanks 🤙🏻
Parabolic means it bends in te shape of a parabola. Like an even arch. Bending pretty much in the middle
Because I like simple and that word confuses the everyday angler.

Needed this 1
Would you recommend a Black max rod and reel combo for a chatterbait?
Great video. I am going to start using these this year. Will they be available tomorrow in your store.
Lol a fancy way of saying it “curves”
Good video Brian
Love your stuff man let’s fish the Cooper!!!
Thank you.
