Im a tourism guide that has lived for a few years in San Pedro de Atacama, and on a weekly basis go to the Salar de Atacama (salt flat); and I can assure you that the lithium extraction operation that SQM has in the salar, does affect the Flamingo (and other birds) colony and the ecosystem at general, by extracting huge ammounts of the precious water that slowly accumulates underground, and which is all connected by aquifers.
The engineer seams like a nice guy, but he was either blatently lying or when this was shot he didn't know; and after the few years since, the bad effects are starting to show...

Getting water from air is nothing new, every household that ever had either an air conditioner or a dehumidifier is extracting water from the air. My basement dehumidifier collects about 2 gallons a day, but since it's just sitting in a dirty plastic bucket it gets thrown out. The issue with using this machine is it uses around 1,000 or more watts per hour to run what is an air conditioner and it's fan, the cold coils collect water but also collect all the pollin, dust, lint, pet dander etc in the air in the coils and the water. There are water filters in the machine the guy in Chili demonstrated, but those will get dirty quickly, as will the coils which have to be washed out. So all in all, it's not a very efficient method to get water even though it works, you do need a lot of power and if you pay for power the machine is using a kilowatt or more every hour- it's like running a window A/C 24/7 plus the costs of filters etc.

So, the Array is at 17,000 feet. Are the living quarters lower? If they are not lower, then do they run special compressors to get a liveable level of Oxygen into the quarters? China has that railroad, part of which is around 17,000 feet. Please elaborate on the mechanics of how you do all this?
