Going on a balloon ride was always on my bucket list. I just could never justify the cost when I wanted to go. I wanted to go with my Dad when he was alive, but we never did. Now... don't know if my body could survive the landing, and I still can't justify the cost to go. But Rick Mercer went and I get to go on a ride. Not the same thing... but I have great memories of my bungee jump and skydive to fill that void. Thank you for taking us with you.
My FAVOURITE Rick Mercer video. The pilot is wonderful. Rick is amazing as always, totally into the project. Love the hot dog. And the Landing was EPIC. Hahahaha
Having Rick Mercer in High River made people laugh and feel better. His landing was close to our farmyard and I would say "yes" to welcoming a balloon landing in our yard, especially if RM was in the basket! I wonder if he knows just how good he makes people feel. He is Canada's Ambassador of Good Will and Fun.
That is something I have always wanted to do! I live in Quebec where St Jean sur Richelieu has an annual Festivale de Montgolfière, maybe I’ll try there!
I've always wondered ... When they're filling it up with hot air, how to do they prevent the flames from burning the canvas? Looks like it comes pretty close.
I want a hot air balloon now... its easier to fly than planes, safer, cheaper, and slower is better because you see more and can fly at lower altitudes. People on land must love it too. Now I just need $25,000 and a trailer...
+Joseph Summers No you can't fly at lower altitudes than other aircraft. But these guys do anyway and then claim they were coming in for a landing if they are challenged. Which is why in some areas they are prone to finding bullet holes in the fabric.
+Joseph Summers You say you need a trailer in your first comment. Does that make you trailer trash? People who are putting holes in them are just trying to protect the safety of their families and property. Don't fly too low and you'll be OK.
But if it wasn't part of the show, he wouldn't be in character and he might not be anything like he appears on TV. Don't forget, he has a team of writers and producers, whom all contribute to make this happen. For all you know, in real life, he might be completely different from his TV persona.
I would love to spend a day or two with Rick. I'd be sore from laughing so much for a week.

Love that they show the camera man and his assistant who went to Comic-Con with him!

I would never think to bring hot dogs to cook on a balloon burner. Genius.
Always wanted to go on a balloon ride. Thanks for the ride.

RICK has way too much fun . Great stuff Mr. M .
I love hot-air balloons! Hot-air balloons are my favorite aircraft!
They are so beautiful and colorful!
I'd love to go in a hot-air balloon again!

Another great one!
Glad he did something in High River
The best one was when he went on that roller-coaster in Edmonton.
Because everyone else is saying it:
Rick has the best job in Canada!

Norman Wells
- The people that shoot at air balloons are the same people that enjoy incest. Low IQ trailer trash.
