I read somewhere that the song isn’t about sexy feminism but about what people think feminism is and she’s criticising people’s idea of feminism but honestly it didn’t translate well and the message wasn’t clear enough so I still consider it a fail.

This is a terrible experience to push out, as a "way to live" , in some ways it guarantees you bad experiences. Not saying that always happens, but seems foolish to gamble.
Fun fact: one of my grandmother’s neighbors had a connection to Katy Perry. Her son was one of her costume designers and he stated a few times that she’s not too friendly to a lot of her designers. He quit because she was such a jerk to everyone that he felt like he needed to leave. Sweet dude, too. I used to ask him for tips for designing doll clothing and he said “you do what you think will look best. If it makes you happy and it looks like something you would wear, then it’s perfect.”

The fact that the not by everyone loved "Super Lady" by (G)I-dle did SO much better of a feminist anthem, with a relatively similar approach, is also kinda funny. It did cliché, but it did it right. It was on the nose, but it knew its purpose.

Roar was my CHILDHOOD music video when it came out. In my opinion, Katy Perry should’ve REALLY thought about releasing this, most likely knowing it was gonna get A TON of backlash.
