Currently working with this Bassist at the moment, well.....at least when we aren't locked down thanks to Covid restrictions. Paul (Pauly) Wheeler now uses a 5 string bass and is still one of the best in the country, and a nice bloke as well.

Glad to hear that 2 important figures from Oz rock in the 70's are now rockin' together .

Dose anyone know what year Les Paul Billy played? And what amp he used?

He took on Strauss custom amps and speakers from late 1971 to the,end of the 1974 tour as Marshalls could not handle the volume and overdrive. Most of the Les Paul's and LP customs were 1960s and later he went to new models as an "ambassador"for the brand of sorts

At Sunbury 72 and 73 the setup was 2 banks of 4x100watt overdriven speakers could be heard 10km from stage on full! Club shows were anything from 50 to 300w size of venue dictated his needs.

Don't know what exact year that LP is, but it looks like one of the reissued LP Customs from 1968 onwards. It was black finished but Thorpe - or someone else - sanded the finish off the top. He had that guitar right through his career from then on.

Sometimes the end of an Aztecs song was longer than the song. Great times. I think Neil Young learnt that from Thorpie. Maybe.
