    Fun Fact: The USS Bainbridge is named for Commodore William Bainbridge, who led a squadron of ships against pirates in the Second Barbary War.

    I noticed they didn't mention the US Navy's VBSS teams. I've done around 80 boardings myself, so far in my 16+ years in, and VBSS teams are the go-to for anti-piracy ops. At least that's our current first step in a situation. There are multiple videos on VBSS, I suggest you take a look and see for yourself. Love your videos.

    the scene with all the navy ships in formation is probably from a large exercise like RIMPAC. so they're not all US ships. The US navy doesn't deploy that many ships together by itself. NAvy Productions channel often pulls video from things that have nothing to do with the premise of the video. The title of the video is "...ATTACK the wrong US NAVY vessel..." and the bulk of the discussion is about the Maersk Alabama, a civilian container ship (see the movie Captain Phillips). Its clickbait. don't encourage it.

    Sonic weapons are non lethal but if you try to stand too long when targeted by one you will wish it were. You will get hearing damage but it's a question of how much. Being deaf will not make you immune either as it wil still mess with your inner ear where the body uses to keep overall balance, inducing severe vertigo.

    • @jwayneair
      @jwayneair 11 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

      Not true. There are 3 ships of the class. Zumwalt, Monsoor, and Johnson. The gun system was scrapped, as the cost of the specialized ammo was calculated based on 32 ships of the class, not 3. When the plan for the remaining 29 ships was canceled, the cost of the ammo soared, like too costly for even the US government, which should say enough. Those gun systems are being removed and replaced with hypersonic missiles.

  • @tenofprime

    It is very common for people to use the term "nonlethal" when that is not how these weapons are classified. Like tazers or pepper spray they are classed as "less than lethal" which is to say they are meant to not kill you directly but under some conditions they can indirectly. For instance if you take a blast from that water hose to the face it would likely render you unconscious, which obviously makes swimming difficult.

    HMS Echo had very restrictive rules of engagement partially because she was a survey ship, not a surface combatant. You're not gonna send a mapping ship into combat if you have any choice at all. And don't forget: The current US Navy's original mission was anti-piracy. The entire thing started because the Barbary Pirates touched our boats.

    • @alexisrivera200xable
      @alexisrivera200xable 14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      They probably think or are led to believe that if they manage to climb aboard all they need to do is capture someone and they can hold it hostage to take the rest of the ship. This in their minds sounds far more plausible than the cold reality of being engaged from afar by the ship's CIWS autonomous miniguns once a button is pressed to allow it to engage all targets. Of course even if they did manage to climb aboard and managed to capture someone that is not going to result in the captain surrendering the ship. at that point the hostage is not a bargaining chip like they believe but the only thing keeping them alive at that point something that they will learn the hard way.

    I think you're missing the main point of this video. There are designated ships that patrol for piracy. They are not worried about themselves. They are protecting private cargo ships... They handle their own. It is about keeping international commerce open and unimpeded as much as possible. You keep referencing "protecting" a naval vessel. This is not what is being talked about with this entire video. It is about protection of shipping lanes, and yes, these task forces to actively patrol and respond to the threat/instances of piracy. Love your videos!

    Luke, you keep falling for the same B-roll trick every video about the modern US Navy does. 6:37 is not the US Navy struttin' their stuff. That's video footage from one of the RIMPAC fleets on the move to the drill sites. AKA, that's basically a multinational fleet going to go practice. The reason why it's often confused as "the Mighty US Navy and only the Mighty US Navy" is because A, only the US has super carriers that are so dominant on the waters that the moment you see them you cannot mistake them for any other nation's carriers. And B, every other modern warship looks the same at first glance. Strip off the national flags of a group of destroyers and line them up in a port and you tell me which nation each belongs to without boarding them or reading anything on them. There's minute differences, yes, but a lot of modern warships have gone the way of the modern commuter sedan. If you weren't allowed a closer look you'd probably think they're all the same.
    I'm pretty sure that B-roll is a US Carrier flanked and followed by US, British, French, Spanish, Australian, Canadian, Swiss, Swedish, Norwegian, German, Japanese, and Korean ships. But the US Carriers are being used as both flag ships and "rental training wheels" of sorts to the other nations. Again, the US has the most super carriers in the world and operates the most and essentially is the king of carrier naval warfare. Something that gives the US a leg up against other navies that would oppose the US. However, it's not unique to the US. Other nations, if able to, would operate super carriers. It's just the monumental cost to have them, maintain them, and operate them don't match their national needs/desires. The US is the "world's police" and our super carriers are the patrol car sitting on the side of the road of the freeway where you're not sure if they're radar-ing traffic or not, but everyone is suddenly going 65mph or slower on that 1 section of road. During RIMPAC, the US is allowing other nations to operate with their carriers to train them on how it's like to operate with a super carrier and what kinds of operational changes are needed to take them into account.
    I find it to be a good thing. BRICS probably doesn't, but whatever. The point is that that training and experience is being passed down so that at the time of WWIII and the oceans are filled with ships again, nations aren't sinking their own carriers because they don't know how to best integrate them. I don't think it'd be that bad, but you perform how you've practiced, and if you haven't practiced, you're not going to perform.

      This video you're reacting to is probably a 5/10 in info. Like I'm not an expert in anti-piracy, but there's just a few things mentioned that are either out of date information, overly optimistic hyping, or just misinformation and misunderstanding of things all together from what I've learned. For example, Aegis isn't a type of missile. A single US Destroyer can have the Aegis system on it, but that's not how it's best used. It's a defense SYSTEM. The best hypothetical I can give is if a carrier escort is sailing and an AWACS plane picks up a radar ping and a missile launch, Aegis will, without needing all the approvals and checks, take control of, let's say, escort destroyer 3's 2nd port side missile interceptor launcher and fire 1 interceptor to go take down the threat. That's what Aegis does and that's why it's so powerful. You don't need to calculate who has the best chance of taking down the threat or how long you need to counter act or if you should evade. Aegis does all of that and if countering the threat is the correct action, it will do it automatically and it will use any tool it needs to to do it. That interceptor missed and the threat is still coming? Now it's taking over destroyer 2's CWIS and it's laying down fire. It's not sentient, but it's kind of verge of "Skynet" but it's actually not being used for harm. It's strictly being used for defense.
      But if you really want a deterrent for the pirates, all you really need to do is invent torpedoes that move half a knot faster than a skiff's max speed. You fire those at the pirates and have them chase them down and once they hit, all they do is pop a hole below the water line. That's going to be the most stress inducing and biggest troll to them. They'd learn a very quick lesson of it's better not to mess with trade. However, it's pathetic that people think they're fine just dumping trash into the ocean and they're fine doing it because "it's not their coasts". I'd much rather have no pirates, plastic straws, and people capable of picking up their own garbage and properly disposing of it. Instead we have pirates, paper garbage, and hypocrites screeching about the climate as they keep throwing non-biodegradable garbage all over which ends up in the ocean.

    Not that what I have to ask has to do with the video, but has OriginalHuman lost weight?

    THIS was your job?? You never saw any combat...stop pretending like the military gave you PTSD...false sympathy grab man...not cool. So many people actually NEED help and you're just a limp wrist hippie crying over nothing.
