This is definitely one of my favourite trick-taking games, and it especially shines at higher player counts. The chaos of the shifting trump suit leads to such hilarious moments.
My original copy is worn and scuffed through playing many hundreds of games. The ultimate sign of an amazing game. I have so many great memories attached to it, I can't bring myself to replace it.
I also think the design of the original version (Texas Showdown) was better, but it was out of print for years, so I'm happy to see it re-printed and in wider distribution. It truly is a gem.
Identifying the top card of each suit is actually quite easy - Look more closely at the card numbers.
The general cards in each suit show a white number on a coloured background, and a coloured icon below.
The top card of each suit is reversed. The number itself is coloured on a white background, and the icon is white on a coloured background.

It’s such a great game, with cleverly designed cards! I came across it by chance but more people should be talking about it!
