    Played it tonight for the first time and loved it. I'm not a huge fan of Euros, especially worker placement games. But I loved this game. Easy rules, simultaneous play, tactile interaction, etc, made it really fun. And I LOVE the theme (really, I love cheese).

    I have some urgent rule questions: 1. Am I allowed to play an Ace next to a Ghost card with stronger symbols? For example, a Fire Ace next to a Water Queen. 2. Am I allowed to summon a Ghost card on top of another similar Ghost card? For example, I want to summon a Queen and need to place my Queen on top of another Queen that is already there. Is that allowed? 3. Am I allowed to play a Joker card next to a Ghost card and then declare during my turn that the Joker has a weaker symbol than the Ghost card? For example, the Joker is next to a Water Queen. Am I then allowed to consider the Joker as Fire? 4. Am I allowed to play an Ace with a weaker symbol next to or even on top of an Ace with a stronger symbol?

    • @brainsongames
      @brainsongames 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hard questions! I don’t have the game anymore! I’ll try to answer based on my old rule book file. Ace cards replace any card except the spirit cards, so they can go beside anything. For summoning, the space can be empty or occupied. By my reading it can be occupied by any card. Jokers can be any suit, and “can be played in any situation”. It doesn’t have a value so placing it anywhere, no matter the suit should be OK.

    • @brainsongames
      @brainsongames 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      An ace can be played on top of another ace, but playing beside means you’d have to follow the placement rules based on the strength of the suit.

    Thanks for the video. I just played it for the first time today. This is a fun, fantastic game but it's marred by poor quality control: misprints, damaged components, spotty or missing linen finish on cards. So I got to play this last night with my play group . I play with a very “ chill bunch of players “ I wouldn’t want to play this with an uptight group right away . The one player that ended up winning won by a landslide. He never got the King Throne ‘s and never owned a clan the whole game . ( sorry if I have the names wrong didn’t watch the show ) . It appears you want to come last for sure at the 3 rd round as there some many moves that start battles and it a point salad for VP for that player . It’s not in my top 10 of 2025 but it’s early . I don’t hate the game but need to play again we all would play it differently Thanks for the review I’m sure people that watched the show will love this game

    I personally feel the complaint about it being a smaller game isn't really valid. If you want a big epic Game of Thrones board game that already exists. This fits a different demographic and is easier to get to the table when you don't have time for the epic game.

    • @brainsongames
      @brainsongames 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good point - a game with “Tiny” in the title should not be big. I’m aware of other GoT games, but I think the Tiny Epic series is a better play duration/weight for my group. I had no complaints about the size of Galaxies, but I’m worried that many power tokens on these maps will be packed tight enough that it becomes a dexterity game! I could be wrong, I haven’t had trouble with it in my play through with 2 players… but Gamelyn apparently made the playmat maps larger, so maybe they’re aware of a potential issue. I’m also nit-picky when trying to be somewhat balanced about games I like! Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback!

    Played my first solo game last night. Really enjoyed it and the solo experience seems to be similarly variable and challenging to plan against. In saying that, I beat it comprehensively but I feel this was from rushing castles to get kings landing quickly and then having the iron throne to lock out the alliances. Would definitely be keen to see some deeper thoughts and further video once you’ve played a few more games and at the higher play count. Also a review of the ice and fire expansion in terms of how that plays and how adding the dragons impacts the game play. My takeaway from a solo first game is that there is definitely some meaty decision making in a very tight game. The theme is on point, the events may even be the best part by being so on theme. Thanks for the video!

      I played 1 solo game and beat it with 39 against 4 points. Expected more from it. The bot makes random decisions that doesnt make sense. As you said going for kings landing early is really op in solo. The level modefiers are simply to give the bit a head start but it still makes those random moves. Hope that someone makes a better automa opponent or something on bgg 😅

    I feel like I don't get to play as many games as I'd like, and there are so many new ones that are in people's top lists and are the ones everyone talks about, but I've never played them! This year, we discovered Courtesans when Bill picked it up at Otonacon, and we played that quite a few times when we got together, as my family enjoys it. Other than that, I got The Two Towers deck building game at one of the events we went to this year, and the kids and I have been playing that a lot. Love Letter is another favourite (I have Jabba's Palace) because we play at game cafés a lot, and it's quick and easy to learn. When we have people over, Just One and Poetry for Neanderthals tend to come out because they are fun and quick as well. Bill really got into Hidden Leaders this year. I need to make a point of trying out more games! With Niagara Boardgaming Weekend and Breakout Con coming up this year, I'll try some new-to-me games!

      @@brainsongames Courtesans and Hidden Leaders are great games. I’m getting back into Splendor. I got 3000 Scoundrels for Christmas, and with only one play, I already really like it. I’m also looking forward to trying an interesting game gifted to me by my in-laws. It’s a twist on a classic: 4-player Mancala.

      I have a traditional Mancala board, and LUDOS Africa included a mancala variation. I’m not familiar with 3000 Scoundrels at all! I liked Courtisans and Hidden Leaders quite a bit too!

    Formage was a great choice for #1. What a difficult choice between Summoner wars , foundations of Rome . And Skyrise . Holy cow you’re correct what a great time to be into board games ♟️. Way better than the 80’s with Monopoly, and Risk 😮

    What you need to do is employ at least one buddy or a team of buddies to play a casual 2-Pl or 3-Pl game, so your audience can enjoy seeing a real gameplay match for better audience experience with this abstract board game, Sinoda; Hope to see you do something more interesting with this abstract board game!

    We're so excited to see Sinoda on your list, and so high up as well! I hadn't really thought about it before, but you are so right about the way people look in all the pictures we take of them playing! Also, any idea you have for a fancier board, you can believe that we've already thought about it! We have a couple of people working on wooden boards, and we've contacted a custom leather-working guy to see about a leather board. Also, we're working with a local dice maker to do fancier dice sets to sell at events next year! Mori looks really interested and now I'm keen to try it as well. Can't wait to see what's in the top 3!

    We had a blast , really a ton of cooperation in this one . We had to plan out to attack as there was always zombies that attacked us ….. 2 of 4 of us took characters with low health. Love to try again . Must be very difficult if you have a player sabotage stuff . Thanks Dr. For the review 👍

    How does the golden rule work, eternal battle, if I launched an attack with movement and for the attack to succeed, I must move, even if the opponent played a block (counterattack)?

    • @brainsongames
      @brainsongames 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The block would have to cover the attacker’s position at the time of the attack to block it. So the move and attack would occur, but it could be blocked if the defender is fast enough and facing the correct direction.

    Have played the proto type version at the End Games with my Son. I believe it has been thoughtfully developed, it allows tiers of success, and possibility to have no one actually "win". Pretty unique game play w/ social impact/ group effort aspect.
