    • @lost4468yt
      @lost4468yt 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@valenwood6299we are in the very early universe by most models? It has only been 13.8 billion years, when stars will likely last to 100 trillion years. It's entirely possible we're a very very early intelligent species. Remember that life really struggled with complexity here, and it was only with the Cambrian Explosion that it finally got started. Then it took another several hundred million years to get to us - and we came very very close to extinction multiple times, and every one of our cousins didn't make it.
      Had life taken just another 20% longer to form complexity here, then chances are we simply wouldn't have been here fast enough to avoid the sun making it inhospitable to complex life.
      Not to mention, it's still a pretty reasonable probability that we never make it to the stars... So it seems we're quite a ways along in the process, but it's still possible the next few hundred years are another significant filter event...

    I remember a Hymn taught in High School which made no sense at the time, yet so fascinating
    1. Then even non-existence was not there, nor existence,
    There was no air then, nor the space beyond it.
    What covered it? Where was it? In whose keeping?
    Was there then cosmic fluid, in depths unfathomed?
    2. Then there was neither death nor immortality
    nor was there then the torch of night and day.
    The One breathed windlessly and self-sustaining.
    There was that One then, and there was no other.
    3. At first there was only darkness wrapped in darkness.
    All this was only unillumined cosmic water.
    That One which came to be, enclosed in nothing,
    arose at last, born of the power of knowledge.
    4. In the beginning desire descended on it -
    that was the primal seed, born of the mind.
    The sages who have searched their hearts with wisdom
    know that which is, is kin to that which is not.
    5. And they have stretched their cord across the void,
    and know what was above, and what below.
    Seminal powers made fertile mighty forces.
    Below was strength, and over it was impulse.
    6. But, after all, who knows, and who can say
    Whence it all came, and how creation happened?
    the gods themselves are later than creation,
    so who knows truly whence it has arisen?
    7. Whence all creation had its origin,
    the creator, whether he fashioned it or whether he did not,
    the creator, who surveys it all from highest heaven,
    he knows - or maybe even he does not know.

    The most dramatic presentation of the formation of the Solar system I've seen 😅
    And beautiful images 👍
    But including a bit more explanation of the causation would be useful: things like why was Jupiter migrating inward, how did Saturn pull it back rather than both moving inward further, and how did that then pull water in from the outer regions? A bit more background science instead of the exaggerated drama...
    But thanks for the video 😊

      @VictorbrineSC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be the same 2000 years ago if someone were to tell you the story of Genesis, they would speak with certainty. That's what theories are. And when evidences prove or debunk theories, we have new more plausible ones, so of course we can speak as if we had direct knowledge: it's more plausible to have Jupiter and Saturn dance around, getting too close to the Sun then moving further away, than have a supreme being with questionable omnipotence create the Earth and everything around in 7 days, because there are more evidences and calculations pointing to the earlier than the later for example. Nothing is certain, we can't know everything, we can only know the echoes of the truth, where we are certain. Science is something that evolves over time, so eventually some things we speak with certainty of might be debunked. It's okay, we get better. Change.

    • @iraqlobster7678
      @iraqlobster7678 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They explain it at 5:20

    • @VictorbrineSC
      @VictorbrineSC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What I understand from this theory, in more detail, is that when Jupiter plows into the primordial disk's dust, all the material collides with the planet mostly on the near side (aka the side that moves "forward" in the orbit). It slows down the planet since their impact goes against its direction in the orbit, and so its orbit decays, slowly getting closer to the Sun. At one point, Saturn and Jupiter became locked in a mean motion resonance. When Jupiter gets closer to Saturn, it accelerates being "pulled" by the planet, and when it gets further, it slows down. Same goes for Saturn, which gets pulled and accelerates when moving closer to Jupiter, and slows down when moving further. This created an interaction that stabilizes the system. More dust material, mainly those that would collide with Jupiter's far side in the orbit (the side that moves "backwards" in the orbit) pushes the planet and gives it kinetic energy, and thus accelerates its speed. Jupiter and Saturn start moving outward. As Jupiter plows into the icy dust further out, it flungs all of those towards the Inner Solar System, hence why we get water on the first four planets, especially the Earth.

      Lol what? Planets form from the collisions of millions of rocky, metallic, gaseous and... wait for it... ICY particles. Jupiter and Saturn didn't lay down oceans on Earth neatly like SimCity--their immense gravities helped PULL these particles into colliding paths that helped create our solar system's rocky inner planets... including Earth.
      There are MILLIONS of planets, moons and other celestial bodies in our galaxy and beyond with various forms of ice, including fascinating stuff like Ice VII. Much of Earth ice turned to water--the OCEANS--because Earth wound up in the "Goldilocks Zone."

      I was thinking the same. I mean, the stories and characters are meant to be descriptive for ease of reference, but the phenomena are too good to be true when you hear them; until you have it retold with objective thought.
      When they say Shiva entangles Ganga to his locks, it may be a poetic way of saying the comet hit the Himalayas and the water flow was slowed down considerably as it had to wind its way through the mountains. Otherwise it would have been a monumental deluge from the heavens, literally.
      Just a postulation.
