    The Planets (2019)
This stunningly ambitious series brings to life the most memorable events in the history of the solar system, by using ground-breaking visual effects to tell the thrilling story of all eight planets. Transporting you to the surface of these dynamic worlds to witness the moments of high drama that shaped each one, The Planets reveals how the latest science allows us to unlock their past lives. It pieces together clues of magnificent lost waterfalls on Mars, the mass planetary migrations as they jostled for position early in their history, and even the distant fate of Saturn as one of its moons awakens to form a beautiful water world.

But including a bit more explanation of the causation would be useful: things like why was Jupiter migrating inward, how did Saturn pull it back rather than both moving inward further, and how did that then pull water in from the outer regions? A bit more background science instead of the exaggerated drama...

I believe in India the Sanskrit word for Jupiter is Guru, which means a guide or teacher or similar. Truly fascinating how those ancient Indians had such philosophical views of the planets which are so much like there actual history and behaviour.
Edit: It's Brihaspati but still means quiet the same.

It’s “Brihaspati”, or Paruhassabodi in my language, literally means “lord of all sages” or “chancellor of all gods” who counsels all devas or gods in Hinduism, also a guru or teacher of all rishi or hermit

I remember a Hymn taught in High School which made no sense at the time, yet so fascinating
    1. Then even non-existence was not there, nor existence,
There was no air then, nor the space beyond it.
What covered it? Where was it? In whose keeping?
Was there then cosmic fluid, in depths unfathomed?
    2. Then there was neither death nor immortality
nor was there then the torch of night and day.
The One breathed windlessly and self-sustaining.
There was that One then, and there was no other.
    3. At first there was only darkness wrapped in darkness.
All this was only unillumined cosmic water.
That One which came to be, enclosed in nothing,
arose at last, born of the power of knowledge.
    4. In the beginning desire descended on it -
that was the primal seed, born of the mind.
The sages who have searched their hearts with wisdom
know that which is, is kin to that which is not.
    5. And they have stretched their cord across the void,
and know what was above, and what below.
Seminal powers made fertile mighty forces.
Below was strength, and over it was impulse.
    6. But, after all, who knows, and who can say
Whence it all came, and how creation happened?
the gods themselves are later than creation,
so who knows truly whence it has arisen?
    7. Whence all creation had its origin,
the creator, whether he fashioned it or whether he did not,
the creator, who surveys it all from highest heaven,
he knows - or maybe even he does not know.

I love how these guys speak as if having direct knowledge of the events

    • @VictorbrineSC
      @VictorbrineSC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

It would be the same 2000 years ago if someone were to tell you the story of Genesis, they would speak with certainty. That's what theories are. And when evidences prove or debunk theories, we have new more plausible ones, so of course we can speak as if we had direct knowledge: it's more plausible to have Jupiter and Saturn dance around, getting too close to the Sun then moving further away, than have a supreme being with questionable omnipotence create the Earth and everything around in 7 days, because there are more evidences and calculations pointing to the earlier than the later for example. Nothing is certain, we can't know everything, we can only know the echoes of the truth, where we are certain. Science is something that evolves over time, so eventually some things we speak with certainty of might be debunked. It's okay, we get better. Change.
