Snake is one of my favorite characters in manga. Generalny all circus people were very interesting, but bc we get to know Snake more it makes him ahhh 😊 I also like Lin even tho for people only watching anime it is hard to grasp his role, but he is also very interesting.

book of circus is one of my top favorite arcs ever. trust me, i know you hate ciel and think he’s a brat (well he is but yk) but that’s EXACTLY how i felt until this season and onward. this gives him so much more sympathy and character and backstory and it’s so so good. and the circus members are all so interesting too. trust me, you’re going to change your mind
And even if you still dislike him (me) you at least pity him and understand why he came to be that way. It's funny - through Ciel's behaviour and actions you're led to dislike him and sympathise with Sebastian as the poor guy who has to do everything for him. But you kinda get hit with all the implications of their deal and what Ciel has signed himself up to and at an age and situation where he can't really grasp the consequences, and well...
I’m half convinced Sebastian surrounds himself with the most incompetent staff possible just because he enjoys all the chances it gives him to show off. He doesn’t want to risk anyone else getting credit for anything if he’s in the room. That would decrease the number of opportunities he gets to use his catch phrase.😂
It wasn't a time loop, it was the guy basically imagining what was gonna happen/how he wanted the plan to go down. But then it struck 8 and nothing happened. The Queen Victoria thing, so, for SOME REASON, the anime only stuff made Queen Victoria look like a little girl (I think it was something related to the filler plot), even tho the time period this takes place, she would have been in her mid 60's. So in the actual canon stuff here she looks, well like a woman in her 60's. Like she should.

The first episode is also non-canon. It's supposed to be that in the manga Ciel receives the Queen's letter at the end of the curry competition, but the OG anime messed things up so bad that when they did this anime years later, they had to make a non-canon episode to introduce new watchers to the series without excessive exposition. In addition, he allows Agni and Soma to live in his London home. The OG anime messed with the queen so this is the actual canon Queen Victoria in the context of the series.
Since Ciel taught Sebastian what a butler is and does, yes, he WAS the one who told him to iron his newspaper. Also, the queen in season 1 may as well be a completely different character and simply not-canon.
Yeah, everything after the curry episode and everything involving Angela/Ash is non-canon. It's been a long time since I read that chapter, but I believe the queen was depicted as an old lady in the manga

In the manga it's explained that whatever the servants damage or destroy in the house, including their own clothes, their cost will be detracted from their pays, so they're basically working for free 😂 So glad you're reacting to this!

Unironically, Black butler: Book of circus is the BEST disabled representation we've gotten in anime XD (they don't JUST have amputees, they have little people and the visually impaired, and their disability doesn't define them or stop them from living a full life, but does cause them hardships and inconvenience)

Book of murder, & book of Atlantic is also really good too. Though for mystery I recommend book of murder, but book of Atlantic has lots of action. Also, when the fourth season comes out next year, you'll notice the quality of the animation graphics & art is different than it is here. And thats cause the guy who made book of circus, book of murder, & book of Atlantic passed away. So we have a different new animator for the fourth season.

Sebastians Voice actor is actually a fascinating man who is incredibly funny, and knowing about him and some of the stories he tells will make this show SO much funnier
The Noah's Ark Circus voice cast are: Joker(Matthew Mercer), Beast (Tia Ballard), Snake(Spike Spencer), Doll(Mikaela Krantz), Dagger(Michael Sinterniklaas), Jumbo(Christopher Sabat), Peter(Vic Mignogna), Doctor(Alex Organ), and Wendy(Rachel Robinson). Tia Ballard in particular is funny to me, cause she played the female protagonist of the anime Kamisama Kiss, alongside J Michael Tatum(Sebastian) as the male protagonist Tomoe.
I actually just watched Book of Circus, murder, and Atlantic and they are all SO GOOD. Love your reactions to the series so far and can't wait for the rest.
These episodes prolly feel more engaging because its not slice of life and the plot is throughout the whole arc. And im so excited for this season im litterally about to explode 😫. Cant wait for the next episode.
I think it’s also more engaging because the plot moves fairly quickly. There’s a lot to cover in 10 episodes so they can’t slow down. Simultaneously they have made this arc enthralling so they clearly haven’t gone too fast.

I would suggest doing what the creator of Black Butler did and research this stuff so that people won’t point out your foolishness.
To explain the queen, they changed her design to fit the anime exclusive filler plot of season 1. Spoiler Basically, an angel grafted Prince Albert’s heart into her and somehow caused her to regress in age. She died from Necrosis when Albert’s heart gave out. Afterwards, a “Fake Queen” was put in place of her, using the manga Victoria’s design.
Oh trust me, Mey-Rin has only been a maid for three years so yeah, she really does sucks at her job 🤣😂. She was only hired for her other skills which you'll see soon in future episodes. Same for the other two servants 🤣
Okay. Know this cause I spent a while studying journalism, but the reason butlers would iron newspapers back then was due to the quality of printing. The ink wasn’t truly set on the page because the paper struggles to absorb the ink. ironing the paper makes it so the ink stays on the page and doesn’t dirt wealthy families fabrics.
The Queen in the Curry cookoff you saw was part of the plot of the rest of the first season (the one that wasn't part of canon). That's why she looks different! Plus, the characters in the manga adapted seasons (Book of Circus, Book of Murder and Book of Atlantic) tend to be a little less goofy than the anime-versions, I think? Which is why Sebastian is back to haunting people and some folks are actually to be taken seriously now.

I know ironing a newspaper did used to actually be a real thing, but my favourite joke theory is that because Ciel is still just a kid, he honestly thought that’s something adults do and Sebastian didn’t have the heart to correct him.
"Galette des rois" is a real cake typically enjoyed on Jan 6th! It's great and I'd recommend looking for one at a local French bakery during that time :D They don't always have 'the bean' inside the cake depending on safety laws
'The King of the Feast' is actually (to my knowledge) a French tradition where that cake is name for a family then whoever finds the token in their slice is the 'king'
I think also these parts feel more engaging because they follow the later parts of the manga, which is darker and tbh more engaging. Like the characters have these secrets that don’t get touched on till later that the original anime never got to. Love that they made these!

Book of murder, & book of Atlantic is also really good too. Though for mystery I recommend book of murder, but book of Atlantic has lots of action. Also, when the fourth season comes out next year, you'll notice the quality of the animation graphics & art is different than it is here. And thats cause the guy who made book of circus, book of murder, & book of Atlantic passed away. So we have a different new animator for the fourth season.
I mean this are really the best arcs, this 3 like back to back take crown. I also like school time but mosly bc of different vibe for Ciel.

The "fanmade horror game" scene reminded me of one of the OVAs, I think it's called "Welcome to the Phatomhives" or something like that. You should check it out when you're done watching, it was a wild concept
Sebastians Voice actor is actually a fascinating man who is incredibly funny, and knowing about him and some of the stories he tells will make this show SO much funnier

The Noah's Ark Circus voice cast are: Joker(Matthew Mercer), Beast (Tia Ballard), Snake(Spike Spencer), Doll(Mikaela Krantz), Dagger(Michael Sinterniklaas), Jumbo(Christopher Sabat), Peter(Vic Mignogna), Doctor(Alex Organ), and Wendy(Rachel Robinson). Tia Ballard in particular is funny to me, cause she played the female protagonist of the anime Kamisama Kiss, alongside J Michael Tatum(Sebastian) as the male protagonist Tomoe.
I actually just watched Book of Circus, murder, and Atlantic and they are all SO GOOD. Love your reactions to the series so far and can't wait for the rest.

These episodes prolly feel more engaging because its not slice of life and the plot is throughout the whole arc. And im so excited for this season im litterally about to explode 😫. Cant wait for the next episode.
I think it’s also more engaging because the plot moves fairly quickly. There’s a lot to cover in 10 episodes so they can’t slow down. Simultaneously they have made this arc enthralling so they clearly haven’t gone too fast.

2:32 in the Victorian era (where this is set), butlers would iron the newspapers to dry the ink so that the paper could be easily read without the reader’s ending up with black hands.
I would suggest doing what the creator of Black Butler did and research this stuff so that people won’t point out your foolishness.
To explain the queen, they changed her design to fit the anime exclusive filler plot of season 1.

Basically, an angel grafted Prince Albert’s heart into her and somehow caused her to regress in age.
She died from Necrosis when Albert’s heart gave out.
Afterwards, a “Fake Queen” was put in place of her, using the manga Victoria’s design.
Oh trust me, Mey-Rin has only been a maid for three years so yeah, she really does sucks at her job 🤣😂. She was only hired for her other skills which you'll see soon in future episodes. Same for the other two servants 🤣

Okay. Know this cause I spent a while studying journalism, but the reason butlers would iron newspapers back then was due to the quality of printing. The ink wasn’t truly set on the page because the paper struggles to absorb the ink. ironing the paper makes it so the ink stays on the page and doesn’t dirt wealthy families fabrics.

The Queen in the Curry cookoff you saw was part of the plot of the rest of the first season (the one that wasn't part of canon). That's why she looks different!
Plus, the characters in the manga adapted seasons (Book of Circus, Book of Murder and Book of Atlantic) tend to be a little less goofy than the anime-versions, I think? Which is why Sebastian is back to haunting people and some folks are actually to be taken seriously now.

Ironing the newspaper is an actual thing butlers would do. It dries the ink. Can't have the master's fingers getting inky.
I know ironing a newspaper did used to actually be a real thing, but my favourite joke theory is that because Ciel is still just a kid, he honestly thought that’s something adults do and Sebastian didn’t have the heart to correct him.
And I just now realized why I recognized Joker's voice. Matt Mercer is truly a wonder of an actor.
"Galette des rois" is a real cake typically enjoyed on Jan 6th! It's great and I'd recommend looking for one at a local French bakery during that time :D They don't always have 'the bean' inside the cake depending on safety laws

'The King of the Feast' is actually (to my knowledge) a French tradition where that cake is name for a family then whoever finds the token in their slice is the 'king'
I think also these parts feel more engaging because they follow the later parts of the manga, which is darker and tbh more engaging. Like the characters have these secrets that don’t get touched on till later that the original anime never got to. Love that they made these!

Ironing newspapers was actually a thing back in the days and probably some luxury hotels still offer this service. We also used to have a small iron in our house which was basically for ironing newspapers but i used to iron handkerchiefs with it lol
