The whole idea of a photo stick kind of thing is for people like me who know nothing about computers. I am 70 years old and did not grow up with one. I grew up with tools. The attraction of a photo stick type thing is that we don't have to dig around in files, select things, do various steps on some list, items we have no idea what they are or how they work. This guy seems to know what he says, but he is not talking to me, that is for sure. I want to know if there some "photo stick" (name not specific) thing out there that DOES work for us guys. I can build a house, I can wire a house, I can install the plumbing and make beautiful furniture to fill that house. I can't work computers. I know how to do e-mail, Facebook and order things on line. Thats it. I guess to illustrate my point I can tell this guy step by step how to wire an electrical breaker panel and connect it to the power pole outside his house. I doubt he could "follow along" and get it done without incident. See? Its a matter of perspective.

You learned how to do all of those things, you can learn how to do this. I dont get folks reluctance to put a little time in, sure its a bit of struggle at first, but so was every task you mentioned prior.

@@shaunlunney7551 Not so! I am very similar and although I have been using computers in a basic way since they landed, it isn't easy for me..
Some people are hands on practical and some aren't!
If you needed some plastering doing in your house, you probably wouldn't want to take 6 months to learn the basics to do a mediocre job... if you get me?
I would love a decent tool to plug in and sort out all my pics and vids, apple are trying to get me to increase my iCloud account....Again!
I have 200gb nigh on and need space for more... so is there anything? thanks man.

@@shaunlunney7551 I’m relatively tech savvy and here to say that the ongoing effort to store and organize digital photos and videos takes up tons of time even after you know how to do it. @spongey spongey I knew nothing about computer prior to 2017 and learned how to use them in about 1 month of clicking around. 3 months I learned how to use the file directories proficiently, and 6 months to be able to run a few basic commands and learn about how they work in a basic matter. It is not hard and I am not a genius. Our brains can handle basic computer functionality.
The main commentor has skills with his hands but can still do wiring etc. These are high-level skills that require LEARNING. Just because it is on a screen instead of physical, makes no difference and is not an excuse.

I wish I had your skills rather than the computer skills I have. Much more rewarding. On a related note, why not swap some of your amazing practical skills with someone who can easily and properly explain to you tips and tricks on File Management on your computer devices. With practice, it's a very simple skill, certainly easier than plumbing a house and making furniture.

There needs to be a simple photo stick that can attach to any device, search, copy (not dups) and store to any device that's plugged into it, not just onto the stick that was plugged in.
And, it has to do most of the work on its own like photostick. There needs to be a photostick stick for dummies, because there is alot of smart people out there that can pull an engine down to its smallest bit and put it back together flawlessly, but can't work out how to back up pics from phones to PC'S and Mac's. I'd like to try this photostick but the reviews are not good.

I backed up my photo and video files and document files onto a thumb drive, thinking that I would always have a good copy of them, but after 4 years I went to the thumb drive only to find that in that time, the video files had deteriorated badly. Most of the still pic were Ok. Just a warning, sometimes you have to back up your back up, before deterioration sets in. I also noticed that the cheap thumb drives (PNY) were the worst, compared with the the more expensive Sandisk thumb drives. I don't know about larger external SSD type drives, that are supposed to be more permanent. Only time will tell if they will perform any better that than the small portable thumb drives. And there are some x rated videos that have a limit on how many times they can be copied built into the video. Often these videos can't be played back after a couple of back up copies are made. So, you just have to get used to the idea that you can't keep them permanently. Sooner or later the medium they are stored on will fail, and the video will be lost.

I found the Photo Stick Omni to be complete trash. I bought several as Christmas gifts and kept one for myself and decided to use it today. I originally downloaded pics from a Samsung Galaxy S10 and then from a Windows 10 PC and was originally satisfied. Then I realized that several photos sent via text were not copied. I moved them to Gallery and tried to download the new additions. It was then that I found TPS to be completely wiped. Nothing saved at all! I spent the next several hours re-tracing my steps, deleted the app, restarted and reinstalled several times. Nothing. I kept looping back into "Getting Started". Then I contacted TPS Customer "service". After repeating the canned information they gave me -- same as what I found on TH-cam and TPS -- I eventually received an email from "Teresa" who informed me they were closing my file. There is nothing wrong with my PC or my cell phone; the Photo Stick is clearly defective. There was no offer to swap my bad one for a potentially good one. They just cut ties and abandoned ship.
This item does not work. Customer Service is useless. I believe most positive reviews come from people who downloaded picture but never tried to re-use TPC for additional photos. I wish I had just given my relatives the money instead of spending so much of it on this worthless POS.

Buy something on amazon called an External Hard Drive, this is something that plugs into your laptop or desktop PC to your usb port. One example is WD My book (quite pricy but does everything those usb sticks does, but with a much bigger amount of storage), get the 3tb or smaller version. download the WD Backup software, and click on whatever it tells you to do. Here's the product on amazon, better value than those overpriced usb sticks: www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-External-Drive-USB-3-0-WDBBGB0040HBK-NESN/dp/B01LQQHL2G?th=1 And download the WD backup software from here: support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?p=249. This app goes on your computer. Any photos from your iPhone and iPad can be backed up using iTunes by plugging them in and selecting your files. Search it up on google how to backup iphone photos to computer, cause I'm no expert on Apple. And this app won't be on the hard drive itself, it will be on your computer. Aside from photos and videos, this hard drive can hold so much, you have a great chance of not worrying that it will be full. Hope this helps! Reply back if you have any other questions!

Donna, the app recommended from xnview.com is simply an application that helps organize photos and also provides a photo editor to use to clean up your photos if you choose (crop, focus, brighten, etc). It's free and has some very neat attributes. The speaker in the video then recommended that instead of buying a photo stick, (which is an expensive flash drive with the added attribute of instantly recognizing photo files), you purchase an external hard drive. An external hard drive is a backup for all of your files, not just photos, is cheaper and more reliable. You can load about 33,000 photos on a 500GB hard drive. I found one by Maxone that costs $37.00 on Amazon. You can buy lower storage, i.e. 128GB, 320GB for less money. It's always good to keep your files and photos on a backup hard drive just in case your laptop/PC blows up or it gets stolen, etc.
So, here is what you would do: Download the MP app from xnview.com onto your laptop/PC. You can then transfer any photos you have on your laptop/PC into the application and make it your default photo file system. That is what the MP app is, simply a photo file system that allows you to do photo editing, sort, and keep your photos in one place.
Next, it is recommended that you buy a portable hard drive to backup all your files and photos as a safeguard against any unpredictable accidents involving your laptop/PC. The hard drive is a back up file system. Yes, you will transfer all your files and photos to the hard drive. Whenever you add or change your files on your laptop/PC, you can just plug in your hard drive to update the files. You can use it to view your photos, but they also remain on your laptop.
Let's say you wanted to go visit your friends, you can take the hard drive with you and plug it into their computer to share your photos with them. This is akin to the old days of "Let me show you my slides", while you pull out your slide projector to everyone's groans.
Hope that helps. The xnview.com MP is a photo file application. The external hard drive is peripheral equipment that is a portable file system and file backup.

Will this system you are suggesting be able to do that as well as back up the photos that are currently accessible on on my Lenovo(older model)? thank you

Maybe paying for a cloud service would be ideal if you take a lot of photos, and also Google Photos if you don't mind your photo quality to get lowered a little.

I got scammed by this piece of trash. Just use cloud storage. They make videos that look like legit evaluations but are just bs !

We have a write up available on the website if that helps. getconnectedmedia.com/photosticks-are-they-worth-it/

@@getconnectednow I'm afraid your write-up does not help. I commented at the bottom.

@@getconnectednow You’re missing the point. There’s a reason people want the photosticks. Either they work or they don’t, but ease of use is the goal and this alternative isn’t it.
