I don't often comment, but I just wanted to say that still enjoy all of your content. Particularly love your extreme close-ups (... no, I meant of the knives). I love the look of cleaver knives, but I don't one yet. Good idea to strop the washers. I never thought of that! It looked to work well.
Yeah, I have been stropping washers for many years, especially on budget knives it can make a big difference. Thank you for commenting - it REALLY does help the video and the channel get more exposure.
I am not sure what you mean, I guess I will watch it again and see what you mean. It's too late to fix it though. If I take it down and fix the video and repost it then I get a too many complaints that I tried to "trick" people into watching the video twice, even if I put in the title that it is a RE-POST, I guess many people don't read, they just look at the picture of the thumbnail and decide if they want to click or not.
Yeah, it might be composed of that. I do wish they would come out and say for certain. I had a MAJOR problem with CJRB customer service this year, so I decided I will not be buying any more of their knives during 2021, at least.
I just don't understand why companies use it. the only time it was okay was on a knife where they milled chevrons into the handle, and some handle jimping as well, which offered extra grip. otherwise it's a bit like adding grease to the outside of the handle - counter productive for holding a sharp implement.
What timing… I’ve been looking for a mini cleaver to take camping. Haven’t decided whether to get a flipper version or a true full tang version. Do you have a preference?
For functionality a fixed blade cleaver is preferred - IF you have a good way to safely carry it. If you know of a small fixed blade cleaver with a good sheath at a decent price please let me know. As I showed in the video the main drawback for using this thing is the hand clearance if you are working over a solid surface, you need to hang your hand over the edge, the fixed blade versions don't have this issue.
If you like Full Tang I just saw a nice new blade from Kubey - whitemountainknives.com/kubey-aiden-fixed-blade-knife-black-micarta-handle-d2-sand-blast-finish-ku341a/ too bad WMK is sold out in both colours right now.

Nice knife...erm cleaver. Hey Jake, the on screen specs were floating around earlier in the video. Thanks for sharing.

@@CanadianCuttingEdge at a third way through, you can see specs floating around on screen while you're talking about other things with the knife.
Their damascus steel might be composed of 9cr18MoV & 10Cr15CoMoV. For a nice alternative to the Civivi cleavers; check out the CJRB Tigris.
Yeah, it might be composed of that. I do wish they would come out and say for certain.

CF laminate is way too slick for me too
