OUCH! Buzz gets a visit from Mr. B+. I'll bet your underwear looks like Lockmeister's now. Man...the job you did with that shaft was awesome...patience of a saint. Can't wait for the next episode.
Wow, that was a complicated troubleshoot. I am happy that the restoration is still going ahead. That shaft looked like a lost cause to me. Great patience and persistence demonstrated with this shaft for sure. It almost ended abruptly though with the 280 Volt daredevil move. LOL... Thanks for sharing Buzz.
😊 Hey Gary....I admit, that shaft kicked my ass for 2 days..what you didn't see was about 1 hour of video edited out...it wasn't a pretty sight....haha
Buzz you could watch some of John's jukebox videos for tips when you get ready to debug that automatic station selector. Glad to see you get the best of Dickel for a change! Always good to see you back! Bill.
Good to see you again Buzz ,big job that and long hours on auto switching ,iBut you did it so well done ,Tell Dickeli saw that spider back again. Many thanks enjoyed.
I enjoyed this one a lot. Something totally unique. Cool mechanism. You are on a roll too. So far no totally dead radios all year if I recall correctly. They all came to life after their long snoozes.
Really enjoyable video Buzz. One of the most complicated mechanical projects I have watched you work on. I was going to joke about a bent shaft being a pain in the butt, however this is a family show. Cant wait for the next video and to see how you are going to do the cabinet.
I enjoyed watching your video, Buzz. But it brought back memories of my Telectro Stereo recorder that was such a mechanical nightmare to repair. I'm glad you were successful, and please be careful around electricity! Thanks for the video!
Wow, that band switch was overly complex, never seen one quite like that before. Excellent work figuring it out. All in all a great video for a not so great week. It's coming along nicely now, take care and have a good one, and thanks.....
Another Friday Buzz video. What could be better. I wonder what originally happened to that shaft causing the solder repair. It does show though that back in the day people did go the extra mile to repair things. I always love to find these old repairs. That one though was almost right but not quite. It's like doing a radio autopsy to find the cause of death. Thanks for your service to the radio rascal community during these tough times. We're seeing some light at the end of the tunnel here in NY. I'm just hoping it isn't an oncoming train. ATB Doug.
Poor Buzz, After suffering through that horrendous troubleshooting and repair, you get shocked for all your trouble. Better you than me. I'll bet the new guy at the radio repair shop had to "fix" that radio. I don't think much of his solution. I can imagine him telling the owner, "It's now a real pain to switch to automatic. It's more trouble than it's worth and should just ignore it. Besides, no one uses the automatic tuning anyway." Best regards, Tom
Melt that solder off, straighten the rod and then maybe spot weld it back into place? You should tell Dickel that 13X7=28 sometime. You should set one of those auto-tune buttons to your AM transmitter frequency. :)
great job Buzz, i am proud of you. Got you detent and the pusher thingy woiking. You stymied Dickel out of a buck. just be careful of that caged animal 'lectricity
Buzz, That's using the old noodle. Good job. It's great to see you're developing a smidgen of mechanical skills. Next comes a car restoration. The 1958 Ford Fairlane convertible would be a great starter project. Of course, if you're a total wimp.......... Regards, John
That shaft sure looks like someone used to much force and bent the shaft until it snapped then had to braze it back together but didnt straighten out the shaft first. Yep someone did a number on that shaft before you got it Buzz good work getting it straightened out. "can't find the hole" the girl screams lol you crack me up.
Meaning to ask you where you mounted the cabinet by Stromberg Carlson sticker when you did that restoration? I picked up a 1939 model 410 h this past weekend. Doing the inside of the cabinet now and can't find where they originally placed that sticker.
Sounds like you and Dickle ripped off an old Abbott and Costello routine!!! 😱 Enjoyed the video. Do you think the worst is over for restoring this radio??
Nice work Buzz. Did John from Arkansas torque down that band switch to 20 Foot Pounds as stated in the 1966 Ford Thunderbird Manual ? Seriously, nice job my friend
I'm going to refrain from using any one of the many shaft jokes that came to mind while watching today's video, but Buzz do you feel any better after your electric shock therapy?
Great diagnostics Buzz! I admire your patience and drive to remedy the problem.
well, it had to be fixed or there would be no part 3, haha, thanks, Buzz
Hi Buzz. Has always I enjoyed, liked, shared. Awesome job on the repairs. All my very best.
hey bobby, nice to see you

Great episode, and fixing the miscreant bent shaft. Good to see ya give Dickle the business for a change....LOL!
👍👍
Excellent work sir!
👍👍🙄
Glad you finally used that shaft as a tool! Should have used lube though! That intro was epic!!! Only thing missing was calling Dickel a dope!
haha
Great video Buzz, you whipped it! Sometimes these old radios have a lot of tight pain in the butt stuff!
yes, ir kicked my ass for 2 days, but in the end i gave it the shaft! haha

Thanks for the visit Cesar! 👍
I think Dickel went to the back yard to bury his stimulus purse! Money burns a hole in his pocket! Should be a great set when completed..........
now that the band selector is working, the rest should be easy...🙄
Gollygeewillikers Buzzo, looks like the brake caliper shield wasn't positioned properly.
Just grind it down to fit like John did......
haha
Good catch. Someone must have really cranked on that in the past.
yep
Thank-You very much. You are the greatest. I got my $1,200 to.

This radio must have been owned by either a professional arm wrestler or a gold miner. Funny how Dicklel got the mine and Buzz got the shaft!
yes indeed

if your talking about the plate with the name Stromberg Carlson, it in is the inner top left side looking from the rear
@@Buzz1151 yes! Thanks Buzz!

maybe, haha
