After my Thompson Auto Ordnance 1911A1 the Taurus PT92 was the first wonder nine I owned back in the 80s but did not have the decocker or rail back then. Fantastic trigger. Better than a Beretta trigger. I liked the frame manual safety way better than the slide manual safety on the Beretta. Mine was more accurate and out shot Beretta 92s. I miss that pistol.
Got the PT92 for $150 back in 2015. Only fired maybe 3 - 4000 rounds out of it. Other than after market promags this gun has never malfunctioned. According to the serial number it was made in 1987. Came with the stock magazine and beat up wood grips. Gun is blued. Replaced those with Black Rubber Hogue Grips. I love the safety location. Can rely on this gun.
I have a very early model Taurus PT92 that has no rail and no decocker. I love it. The wear it shows is from being in a holster in a dry box I took hunting all the time. It's been loaded in the gun safe for a long time and will empty the magazine every time. It stove piped once. Surprised me but I found i had let it get very dry and had not cleaned it in a while. I cleaned it and oiled it and no more problems.

I owned two 9mm Taurus handguns. PT 99 AF blue PT 92 AFS stainless Both were reliable, durable, and accurate. One feature I really liked was the 5-inch barrel.
Bought mine back in 1984 put several thousand rounds through it. The locking block broke and Taurus customer service sent me a new one, no questions asked. Still my favorite range gun.

Yup, I had one of these for the longest and it was great, no lock but it did have a decocker ,accurate and it never gave me a single problem ever, I had a Italian Beretta way before the Taurus so I didn’t want to like the pt92 but it was great truly underrated.
I have an American M9 and this one, there is NOTHING wrong with this one. I have a couple of Upgrades I wish Taurus would make, but other than that, this is PERFECT!!
I have a aluminum and stainless steel Taurus PT-92, blinged out lol. It was actually the most expensive gift I've ever received from my dad. I think he guessed, bought it based on how it looked. Apparently he has good intuition, as I do more research and realize how solid it is. I just bought a light&laser combo for the rail, and some sticky grips. Mine says Brazil, so im wondering just how old it is.
How long ago did you get it?? Does it have the Key Lock on the back of the grip? They are all made in Brazil, so that doesn't tell how old it is!! They are all good though!!
@@yrsued well, it came from a pawnshop and was lightly used. It has the lower rail mount and indeed the lock on the back. Thanks for your response. If I had to guess, I would say manufactured in early 2000s. From the time I made this comment to the time im responding to yours, I've put that laser/light combo on with new grips and I just LOVE this for home defense.
The Taurus PT-92 AR is great, especially the stainless steel models. When the military began having problems with cracking slides (only the military models), Taurus advertised that its PT-92s had superior metallurgy than the Berettas. No Taurus 92 ever had slide-cracking issues, but at the time the Taurus, while it was as reliable, it simply didn't have the accuracy of the Beretta, so I didn't keep them. In the early 2000s I bought a stainless Taurus and, to my delight, it was as accurate as my Beretta, and I have it still. And it's frankly a better gun than my Beretta. The cock and lock safety alone is worth buying it. The S&W 659 is another underrated gun in my view. People love the 5906, but you almost never hear anything at all about the 659. I have two of them and a 5906, and the 659 is my favorite.
@@snkfelty As you can see, I have both, I got my M9 for a song and still consider the Taurus to be a better pistol, Beretta is a fine gun, but to be honest, their warranty leaves a whole lot to be desired!!
Here in Brazil Taurus used to sell their 92/100 pistols to law enforcement agencies and the military, but the company never bothered to make those pistols easy to upgrade by making it possible to users to replace the sights and so forth because it would make the weapon more expensive to the buyers. Taurus should pay more attention to the 92 market, specially when there are excellent companies that customize the Beretta 92 in the USA. I'd really like to see night sights and a centurion sized or carry sized PT92, just like the Berettas customized by Wilson Combat. Maybe Taurus could offer options on their PT917 model as well!
I know how you feel, at lest we have Hogue Grips, Grip Bushings and Grip Screws here!! But I know how you feel about the Rear Sights, I would love to see a Novak Low Mount Rear Sight for it, with no Dots!!! I blacked out the white Dots on this one and works for me. I would also like a Dovetail Front Sight, like in the newer Berettas!!
@@honourandtradition8078 Yep! Hopefully, Beretta and Taurus compact mags are as similar as their full-size counterparts, so I only have to modify the mag catch slot.
I heard great things from people about this weapon. I have always wanted the Beretta but the safety move by Taurus was a huge move for a lot of people.
Are you sure a STEEL frame? I'd want that! most 92 copies are aluminum alloy. TIP: grease, not oil the locking block, works better on my Walther P38 / P1 !!
I own a mint inox Beretta 92fs. Interested in buying this Taurus to pratice cuz its 3x less expensive than the Beretta and still money left for ammo here in Brazil

Good test I really like shooting with that pistol I bought mine here in Brazil I do not wait for the time that it arrives for me. Here in Brazil, despite having a large factory of pistols and tactical weapons, we have great difficulty and bureaucracy to have weapons.
@@yrsued Hello Friend. In short, until 2003 it was possible to buy weapons in Brazil as in the USA, with documents and money. In 2003, the disarmament statute was implemented and shortly thereafter, I think that in 2005 there was a referendum on the topic, and even with the citizen's vote in favor of weapons, the president at the time did not release it released (Luiz inácio Lula da Silva) In 2018 Bolsonaro was elected and one of his promises was to revoke the disarmament statute. He really has been working hard on this, but ... the left parties and even the Supreme Court itself have been working hard to hinder the changes that Bolsonaro has been trying to implement. So, whenever they can legalize all the changes proposed by the current president. Regarding the acquisition of weapons, we have two paths in Brazil. 1 - Through the Army (we have had many improvements) 2 - Through the Federal Police (has not evolved much) In either case it is necessary. 1 - The realization of a basic course of shots and weapons 2 - Written test 3 - Practical test 4 - Psychological test But it's one thing to get possession (authorization to have a gun at home) Another thing is to get the Porte (authorization to move with a gun) this is practically impossible.
The M9 was my issued carry in the Corps and I love it. Very rarely jammed and when it did it was a stove pipe. Simple swipe down the top and the jam is cleared. Also easy to take apart and clean.
It is a great pistol indeed, I've never been a fan of Drop in Comps for any pistol, having a longer threaded barrel and adding a well designed Comp gives you much better results, but that's just my opinion!! You do have a great setup!!
Bought my first one for 464.00 at a gun shop , now own five, I didn’t know that Taurus did away with their lifetime warranty , I recently sold a blued one to a friend for 400.00 with pachmeyres , and he was happy to get it. The story that I heard is that several soldiers had the slide break free while shooting their beretta 92 and were killed by the slide going through their eye sockets, one of the reasons that they were dropped. This has never happened with the Taurus clone to the best of my knowledge. I’ve never experienced anything wrong with any of the five that I owned, also from Phx Az.
LOL, That broken slide issue is pretty much old wife's tales.... I've heard tons of them, I know Beretta's DID break due to use, but I doubt any service members were killed due to that!!! We need to get together one fo these days!!
Correct Me if I'm wrong. But doesn't this nine millimeter shoot extremely harder than other nine designs? When I was a teenager, I saw this gone.Take a chunk out of a tree and it was basically agrees. Are caliber or a full metal jacket WOLF
This is DEFINITELY NOT a Competition Pistol, so it has a fairly loose fit. But it's accurate enough for Minute of Bad Guy accuracy at 10-15 yards, I would avoid engaging a bad guy at 15 yards, but I bet this pistol is more capable than I am.
I bought a PT 92C in the early 90's it doesn't have an internal lock thank God! I still have this stainless steel with wood grip panels with a gold Taurus emblem seated in the handle plate. It's a real looker. I love the gun so much I just bought a brand new PT 92AF it has the rail system same as the one shown in this video and I'm still impressed with Taurus hand guns, love both.
hey my guy just a lil tip i learned in the past, promag is not great stuff wouldn't recommend buying it as its a gamble each time of it will work or not, sorry yours doesn't work but i would sell the promag or return it or something if u can and go and buy Mecgar mags for your pistol they are really good quality and ive heard alot of success with all types of guns so they most of the time work flawlessly, tho im not sure if they have a 32 round mag but u should be able to find some good quality flush mags that can take a couple more rounds. hope this helps

Is this pistol marked Bainbridge GA on the slide? I'm trying to understand now if the pistol (at least in part) is made in GA now, rather than in Brazil.
OK, this requires a long explanation, but here it goes. Taurus USA is in GA, it used to be in Miami, the older guns were marked Miami, FL, the new Guns are marked Bainbridge, GA. I don't think Taurus makes ANY guns in the USA, they import them. But, Glock for example, makes the Glock 17 in the US, frame and slides, but most small parts are still made in Austria. That happens with many companies that sell guns to the US Government, they have to make most of their guns in the US, like Beretta, SIG and Glock. back in the early 2000's, some Glock parts were imported, like slides, but the G17 Frames were made here, in GA!!! Furthermore, all imported firearms MUST have their US Import Marks on the gun somewhere, that is Federal Law, so that might be the main reason you see two different manufacturer places. Springfield Guns are either Croatian or in the case of the 1911's forged in Brazil. The 1911's have final assembly in the US, the Croatian Guns are imported complete!!, they still say Croatia and Geneseo, IL
@@yrsued According to an interview with Taurus CEO I watched last month they make many guns in US and they're moving towards producing even more. Gun regulation in Brazil is too strict and all new guns require years of bureaucracy and army trials to be released here(we still don't have the G2S, G3, G3C, and we never had the Curve, e.g.). They plan to produce all new guns in US and import them back to Brazil, as that'd make the bureaucracy way easier(imported guns don't have to undergo the years of trials if they're approved in their country of origin). My understanding is they only produce their old guns(Beretta clones, Revolvers, Winchester clones, etc.) in Brazil, everything else is made in US.

Came with the stock magazine and beat up wood grips. Gun is blued. Replaced those with Black Rubber Hogue Grips. I love the safety location. Can rely on this gun.
This is a VERY good pistol indeed!! And you have the version without the lock too ;). That is a keeper!!

@@dealornodealproductions7314 My guess would be the same, early 2000's!! Great Pistol!!

Here in Brazil, despite having a large factory of pistols and tactical weapons, we have great difficulty and bureaucracy to have weapons.
But I heard that your new president was about to change that for you?
@@yrsued Hello Friend.
In short, until 2003 it was possible to buy weapons in Brazil as in the USA, with documents and money.
In 2003, the disarmament statute was implemented and shortly thereafter, I think that in 2005 there was a referendum on the topic, and even with the citizen's vote in favor of weapons, the president at the time did not release it released (Luiz inácio Lula da Silva)
In 2018 Bolsonaro was elected and one of his promises was to revoke the disarmament statute.
1 - Through the Army (we have had many improvements)
2 - Through the Federal Police (has not evolved much)
In either case it is necessary.
1 - The realization of a basic course of shots and weapons
2 - Written test
3 - Practical test
4 - Psychological test
But it's one thing to get possession (authorization to have a gun at home)
Another thing is to get the Porte (authorization to move with a gun) this is practically impossible.
