Thank you for this. I read on the GT4 iRacing Forum that + 11 ABS/TC is actually the lowest setting, ie close to no nannies, that 1 is most intervention.
Stiffen up the rebound a couple of clicks on the front to stop it pushing wide mid corner when you get on the gas instead of using the red sway bar. U should be controlling your pitch and role with bump and rebound setting. I’m also not sure if you’re turning in problems are driving or setup related but u could either soften the front sway bar or soften the front bump to give u more turn in.
This video was made for an old build of the car, but at the point of mid corner the shocks have already had their influence on the car since it should be set and ready to leave the corner. Most setups on the newest build of the car are either at +0 or +1 on the rebound knob. The cars shocks physics are made up and the points dont matter lol
@@DJAlessandrini no that not true the rebound damping on the front end is what effects the car with regards to understeer in the mid corner. As u get on the gas’s the front end of the car lifts up if it lifts to fast it will cause understeer as you get on the gas. By stiffening up the rebound dampening on the front of the car it won’t lift as much which will give you more available front end grip as u get on the gas. This is the only reason you would won’t to adjust the rebound on the front.
Really helped dial out the understeer! Thank you! Also I think the higher assist setting actually means lower intervention. Which is where most of my time came from. With all the elevation changes at Sonoma TC would keep engaging, now with your setup it lets me get out of shape before coming on. EDIT - The setup screen clearly says 11=MAX so I'm confused.
The car has went through many updates since I made this video. It's wildly different now. The adjustments to change the cars behavior still apply though. Just not the numbers next to "knobs"
Hi DJ. I watched your TH-cam video on the 718 Cayman setup and it was very helpful. I used your stock setup file and it made the car so much better turning in. Thanks! I’m going to I race the RUF RT12R in an upcoming PCA race and wanted to see if you have any experience racing / setting that car up. Tim Smith, PCA SPB #07
Could you do a video on how to drive this car? With the Miata you kind of chuck it in a bit and rotate the car on the brakes. When I try to do similar with the 718 I just get understeer. Maybe you could do lap guides for the 718 as well since the rookie Miatas just do the same tracks in a different order every season
Since I've already covered a lot of the Miata rookie tracks I've been trying to figure out what to do next. Perhaps I'll try the Cayman and see how people react to it. I'll make the video tomorrow :)
For the shocks, it seemed to me when working through my setup, that the lower numbers were stiffer, and higher numbers were softer. Anyone else agree/disagree?
VR makes this incredibly hard to watch. There’s probably good info, but it legitimately makes my stomach hurt to watch. If anybody can tell me why I’m not able to drop the air pressure in my Porsche 718 GT4, I’d be stoked. I’m doing the class C races at Spa
The Cayman has went through multiple updates since this video was made. Sorry man. I haven't really spent enough time in the car since the update to offer a replacement.
I've found that on setting 4 it has the same balance as low speed stuff. I think at that setting it cancels any lift the car might get at higher speeds. I honestly didn't do any testing on straight away speeds and how they are affected on each setting. Driving around Daytona would be an easy way to figure this out
There isn't much to change on that car. 🤔 I haven't played around with it to feel comfortable enough to share information with you guys. If at some point in the future I feel competent enough where I'm able to help you, I will. :)
Thanks for the info, but don't do these types of videos wearing the VR headset. Almost impossible to read the screen. And the head movement is super distracting.
Thanks for sharing!
This setup completely transformed the car for me. So more lively and active now.
Instead of low 1:08s I'm doing low 1:07s now :D
Awesome to hear!

Yes it was and the have since fixed it, 1 is now the lowest setting
Yeah on 1 it’s almost undrivable without setting the brake bias forward a ridiculous amount
Thanks a lot ! You’ve transformed it from an understeery mess to fun little racer !
Thanks so much for this DJ! It helped me understand better what each adjustment does to the car.
Thanks very much for this mate. Have been scouring the web for something like this, and you had a setup file to share as well. Fantastic
This is amazing stuff, thanks so much for your generosity with sharing your setup!

Good content but not easy to watch in VR when looking at setup screens
Yeah someone else had the same feedback. It will be better next time! Thank you!

Bump at 1 on front and rear? The car feels like its on springs over kerbs

DJ Alessandrini been a while since this comment. Bunch of crazy stuff with this virus is going on, hope all is good with you bud.

When's your next video update 😶
setup failed tech. rear ride height was too high.

And liked, tnx

And sub,...:-)
wing make any difference?

DJ Alessandrini ran a few laps at Daytona and the wing made little if any difference from 1 to 5. Car tops out around 283kph
Great video, can you make an iRacing GT3 Cup setup video?
There isn't much to change on that car. 🤔

Key: *This type* of videos. I don't get all the haters on VR, I much prefer watching actual driving in VR.
Thanks for the Video. But to Upload a content Video with the shaking VR goggle is not optimal.
